The entire story of the second portion of Dragon Ball's original manga run. Some call this "Dragon Ball post time skip" or "DBZ" but most just call it Dragon Ball Z- the second series animated for the franchise. A lot of people r barely remember the events of Dragon Ball Z it so here's a summary of the whole thing - minus Toei Animation filler!

That "he's not a hero though" immediately after showing exactly how Goku in fact is a hero is a very cathartic moment.
Tbf he is not. He fights for himself, his friends and his family. He knows what is right but he aint losing sleep because someone blew up a city or something.

@@codetaku fair on the dragon ball and revive point but we saw Goku be like this from the beginning at least when it came to helping people.
Though to be fair to Goku and the whole Cell thing after a certain point every villain/big threat that came to earth was because of him. Goku also just found out that his son doesn’t like to fight and he felt the genuine only way he could allow his family a normal life was to stay dead. Cell existed because of his past actions and he couldn’t defeat cell and had to leave that responsibility up to Gohan. At this point not only were people dying because of him but he wasn’t even strong enough to stop the being doing it

Hey wtf were we supposed to do!? As a 90’s/early 2000’s kid- I was entirely at the mercy of whatever the networks aired whenever they decided to air it. After grade school one random, glorious, life changing day I happened to flip to Cartoon Network, which happened to be airing an utterly one of a kind jaw dropping goosebump inducing animated program called.. Dragon Ball.. Z?!.. I’m a little confused at first because I don’t know who this Radditz asshole is or what his deal is.. but fuck it!.. let’s go for the ride!- a loooooong beautiful ride, every day after school, for 20 mins tortoise paced minutes at a time! We didn’t CHOOSE the specific show or saga our naive asses were dropped in on- THEY CHOSE US! Like Future Trunks, we belonged in OUR own timeline. For us, trying to go back in the past after the fact to watch “Dragonball”, when our cherries had already been popped on the pedestal of DBZ?!- spare us!! No disrespect. It’s just that we had/have FAR MORE EPIC SAGAS to consume that we will just take your word for it- Dragonball was the OG badass!.. gotcha! Jw.. is there any particular reason it’s NEVER referenced specifically for its epic moments or consequential storylines? Must be a coincidence

I wanted to get into DBZ as a teen to understand the hype. I figured I should read DB manga before reading DBZ manga. I found DB immature and childish and kinda boring. I read the first volume or two then skipped to demon king piccolo saga. Then finished that arc and went right into DBZ after DB ended. I don't think I missed out at all by skipping the majority of DB and vastly prefer DBZ.

I watched his Moro Arc and Granolah Arc videos and in my mind it's like I actually watched the entire arcs when I think back on those videos. Even though they were just animated panels..

The "Goku, don't fight Frieza, he'll kick you @r$e" part was hillarious
In the manga, the amount of dialog during Namek's impending destruction can be reasonably read in 5~7 minutes, so if you assume the fighting is happening at an impossibly fast pace that's merely slowed down for the reader (which, considering how fast they are said to move during Dragon Ball, while being literally a thousand times stronger on Namek, should be accurate), the "plot minutes" might as well be actual minutes.
For being so short, that was surprisingly thorough.
The sequel we all wanted.

10:52 is the moment i fell in love with this video. I've seen too many skip Dragon Ball, only watch Z and say afterwards how the story was lacking something that was covered in DB. Also i love how you say facts about how Goku gave up his life twice for his son and planet but he's a selfish fool of a bad father for some reason.
legit, he lost his son to piccolo only cause he sacrificed himself to have gohan, then he had to go to namek in a space pod, then gohan had to evacuate otherwise he'd die, and he did miss the birth of his second son and missed 7 years of his first sons life, but only because he didn't want to attract danger towards them.
He only misses time with gohan due to outside factors and wanting to keep him save.
Goku is a good guy. That doesn't actually make him a hero. It's a distinction based on motivations imo.
@@priestesslucy3299 The title of "Hero" has been falsely used synonymous with "Super Hero" as if its some sort of profession of job: like he spends all his time looking to save or make the world safer. This is partly due to American comics and MHA. But true Heroism isn't a job and anyone can be a hero or display heroics by their actions and achievements. Motivations only act as a factor to how others understand a persons ability to overcome fear and act in the face of danger.

8:15 It was likely because nobody was strong enough to last in the hyperbolic time chamber at best a month and that would've only made them above Nappa but still get wrecked by Vegeta
I think they actually could’ve lasted longer had they been above Nappa (and subsequently the Saibamen), possibly stalling the fight despite being able to destroy Nappa easily together until Goku arrives. All of them could still be beat up including Goku (so he can get that tasty zenkai) but no one really has to die. THOUGH…that does raise the problem of the Z fighters never requiring the use of the Namekian Dragon Balls so the Frieza Arc never happens.
