Thank you for this! The tip to use the nylon string is genius. Not sure why Tesla doesn't recommend that in the instructions. I just did my 2023 Model 3. There is very little glue and the original sill comes out very easily. Didn't even use the pry tool. Took me about 5 minutes per door. Thanks again!
Wow. Great video with everything explained very well. I watched Tesla Raj do these and on removing them he bent them all up. I don’t think he was reusing them or anything and it’s his money so whatevs. The fishing line or nylon line is such a great idea. I’m about to order my M3 Performance in red with the black interior for a HOPEFULLY November/December delivery. I’m going to be be getting the black sills from the Tesla site so wish me luck.
Thanks for the nice words. It’s funny, I watched that guys video as well and literally laughed out loud. I thought to myself, I hope people don’t watch his video and get discouraged or think that’s how they should do it. I hope others like yourself find their way to my video. It’s a much better result and you’ll be able to replace the batteries when that day inevitably comes. I may not make the best videos, but I do try to explain everything as best as I can. As well as think things through. Congratulations on your new upcoming car. A few weeks ago I bought a dual motor red model 3 with white interior for my wife. The red looks absolutely amazing with the black trim. Specially after you polish it. I was truly blown away by how the red pops in the sun. If you need any help, let me know. I do recommend the vinyl decal remover. It will cut the adhesive tape removal time down to minutes. Unlike what the guy in the other video did. Oh, by the way, if you order a performance, it’s considered a priority to Tesla. You’ll have it well before Christmas, I think before Thanksgiving honestly.
I bought these almost a year before I bought the actual car. My only issue was the magnet location on the passenger side door. The template did not work for me. I had to play with the location to get it to work. Otherwise, it was a very nice product. I had to install in the driveway in Orlando, Florida. I don't recommend the installation on a hot fall day. I sweated my butt off. Wait till it cools off. Oh and a can of Goof-Off is a must.
Looks nice! I just wish maybe they added some sort of connecting wire tucked underneath to hardwire it instead of battery operated, but I guess that makes sense since they didn’t have this option for a while
Thats awesome! I’m glad my video helped and thanks for watching. Vielen Dank fürs Zuschauen und ich freue mich über meine Videohilfe! Viel Spaß mit deinem Tesla und hallo aus den USA
James. Love the video. I have a question. I have the door sills for the Model S (same configuration - batteries, magnet…) Do you know of a quick-fix for the magnets if you have lost one. It looks like the body shop had to remove my doors and one of the magnets fells off. I need to know (without replacing/buying a new set of sills) if maybe I can use a different type of device or magnet. Your thoughts?
Thanks for watching! You can use ANY magnet you want and it will work. I bought some on Amazon before because I lost one and it worked. You may even have a extra magnet laying around the house. Just test it first. Place it on the door sill and remove to make sure it lights up. Here’s an idea of what I bought. amzn.to/3CZrBLc
What do i do if i dont have the templates anymore? How would i know where to place magnet. Of it is possible for u take a ruler and just tell me how many inches from teh circle hole to the magnet hole on the stencil. That would worktoo!
Take the magnet and put it on the led door sill where it activates the sill to light up. Place it there and shut the door. It will stick to the bottom of the door.
Your garage is incredible! It looks like you should remove your shoes before entering it.
Haha! Thanks! I made a deal with my wife. She could have the rest of the house if I got to make the garage the way I wanted. :)
@@locoboof I think that you won that deal, James!
Great job! You're very clever on the removal.
Thanks Jeff!
Thank you for this video, it’s what I was looking for!
You’re welcome!

Not only did he bent them up, he scratched up his paint and such so fishing wire or strong floss works too.
Did you receive your M3P?

Glad you got them installed and like them.

Yeah, it’s better than nothing I suppose.
How the hell was this not included in the price
Excellent instructions. Super helpful. Thx
Glad it was helpful and thank you.

This was one of the easiest videos to watch and James made it very understandable. Great Job!
Thank you Paul. I’m glad my video was easy to watch. Thank you so much for watching.
Great video! I'll be installing mine on Chritmas day 🤙
Thank you! This is a great Christmas gift. You’ll love them. Happy holidays.
Thank you sir for this great video.

Nice….the only thing deterring me is having to pull it back up to install new batteries. 🙃
That will be at least two years away.

Can you share vendor? Super interested in purchasing the rear illuminated door sills!
As of now it doesn’t look like they’re bringing them to market. I’m under a NDA, so I really can’t comment.
Great video
Looks nice ❤
Thank you
Awesome vid bro. I subscribed
Thank you!
Wondering if these ended up scraping against the door and scratching your sills or door?
Not at all. They fit perfectly with no issues.
@@locoboof unfortunately, not for me 😢
2 years later, batteries still going strong?
Absolutely. Two years later, still going strong with no issues at all.
So when the battery dies then what? U gotta unpeel it and replace the battery? Or that’s it once the battery dies that’s all she wrote?
You’ll have to peel up and replace
i was wondering the same thing. that will be annoying to do when the battery dies. they couldn't just find a way to open on top to replace?
Just 2! Price should be for 4 unit
Can i change the Batterie?
I’ve had these since 2021 and haven’t needed to change the battery yet.
where the back one come from?
Explained in the video
How long did the batteries last?
Still working fine. I’m hearing a few years.
