I could listen to him talk about music for the rest of my life. He's so knowledgeable and always has something interesting to say.
+Candace S. Came here to write the exact same things you said in your comment! I love the way he speaks about music, I never get bored! :)
Yes he is quite knowledgeable
That's true generally, and he made some great choices. But, on Northern Soul he misunderstands: "whole communities" most certainly did not attend all-nighters. Part of the appeal was that it was an 'in-the-know' select group who attended -- travelling many miles. But, whatevah, good tracks selected.
really didn't want to like. then billweathers came up...
I at least feel some comfort that a guy with this sort of a taste is in the mainstream music market.
A humble guy. I'd love it if he would put together compilations of songs that he digs.
+Adam Herbst you should check out the spotify playlists he put together for Bose!
+Elle J. Winsett I couldn't find it! I'm curios to listen to it!
Daniel Garcia you'll probs be able to find them if you search 'droppin' science'. there's a series of videos under the same name!
He has the most ambiguous transatlantic accent I have ever heard
born in London, raised in New York
Bill Withers, Soul II Soul, Patrice Rushen... damn, the guy has a REALLY good music taste! Respect!
I don't get why people hate this guy. He's fine. Uptown Funk is a good song. I'm not a Ronson fan, but he's not hate worthy.
Maybe I'm wrong
Speaking of Daffodils ...... @Amoeba ...when can we get a Kevin Parker what's in my bag?...Pretty please?
I just asked this on the Pond what's in my bag! Lol
Yes! We need this
He's got some cool picks.
he is right i love those 80,s soul tracks, soul to soul etc
Daily Operation is a hip-hop classic! Shoutout to Mark Ronson and RIP Guru
he sounds like he'll fall asleep in a second
I just found a "Midnight Marauders" cd at a local thrift store for a dollar the other day!
mark is a chill guy
Can't believe this guy is 40, definitely doesn't look it
woah wtf
Yeah. Definitely older, right? Say 45
40 is not old
Mark has a point comparing Stevie Wonder and Kevin Parker. Kevin is and amazing multi-instrumentalist and songwriter.
"Both of these guys are actually on my new album; Kevin from Tame Impala and Stevie Wonder. Kevin is playing drums and Stevie Wonder's playing harmonica. They're like, jamming."
Jesus H. Christ
Some very good choices. Particularly The Stone Roses, Soul II Soul and Tribe Called Quest. I have to respect him grudgingly for that alone.
aquablushgirl It's interesting how he can have good influences but his own music completely sucks.
+Connor Brown half decent producer though
+Connor Brown Actually he produced Amy Winehouse's album, back to black and that's definitley does not suck. Just saying.
Astra Aurora Amos I meant the stuff under his own name.
Oh okay, yeah i see where your coming from.
Aww man, I wish I had $$ to get that Patrice Rushen record. And Soul II Soul YES. "Back to Life" was their big hit when I was 16 and sneaking in to the dance clubs haha
He has a great taste in music 👏👏
It's really cool to see someone so accomplished on this show.
Especially Mark Ronson, I mean that guy has been fucking everywhere.
"that's all i got" shut up mark you just pretty much bought the whole store.
peaches they better not mind! mark is a hella collector... with the amount he bought, he seemed like he was trying to keep it at a limit ahaha!
peaches who got posters? Just curious
Lianne la Havas bought a Jimi Hendrix poster, but idk if it was $200 that's crazy
Shutt up he didn't!
If they get me out there, I would probably buy the whole Amoeba :D So, there must be some sort of limit, I guess :D
Don't hate the guy just because he made a few really crappy pop songs his picks were actually really good
+poetryjesus What songs do you consider crappy?
+Candace S. none, you shouldn't say it's crap just because it is pop....
+ulaola10 I didn't say they were crappy...
i'm referring to the guy you were against
+ulaola10 I thought so I just wasn't sure why I was tagged
Jesus... !! Prelusion!!, That Soul II Soul single with all those mixes? Greatness... Jeesh. I just recently came across that AGAIN. Young Holt Unlimited! Soulful Strut.. lol.
Big ups Amoeba, really great way to deepen my knowledge of music, get a sense of my favourite artist's taste, and show me how I can get my hands on it. This my definition of marketing, give the audience content that resonates deeply with them and then sell them your offering, I wish more brands got this! I cant wait to fly down from SOuth Africa back to LA again and do some shopping at Amoeba.
When he held up the Mobb Deep and Tribe albums side by side, it reminded me of my friend who loved Mobb Deep whereas I was more of a Tribe guy and it was like a representation of each of us.
We need a Frank Ocean's episode!!!!!
Devon D i doubt he'll do it though haha
i wasnt expecting to hear kevin in the beginning n i cried a lil
Tame Impala and Kendrick nice
damn, I always wondered who was behind that piano sprinkled "light my fire" cover. such a toe tapper..
Anybody that likes The Stone Roses, is alright by me!!!!
I'm here for my boy Kevin Parker
This man is awesome
whats the song playing in the beginning?
its sounds like tame impala to me
Yeah, it's a Mark Ronson track called "Daffodils" Feat. Kevin Parker.
ua-cam.com/video/-OWkLF2HLp0/v-deo.html
thanks a lot
Atanas Janeshliev Kevin wrote the song about five years before it was ever used in this album. There's footage of him playing it live
As part of his quickie band Kevin Spacey haha
Never heard him speak for so long. He has a very interesting accent. You can tell he has both English and American influences.
new respect
A tribe called quest low end theory is still a classic not sure why he didnt get that album. Great episode nonetheless!
Good stuff. Cool dude.
the Stevie Wonder harmonica at the end of the video - just wow
This video is why I started listening to Gang Starr
Dude getting all this hate, but he did most of Amy Winehouse's best music so without him there might not be much reason to live
i want the red jacket it is so kool looking
This man is a genius
I always wonder how Amoeba gets artists to do these videos. Are they they recognized and asked when they walk in the door or is it all worked out ahead of time?
I love the track he did with Amy Winehouse. I actually thought he was raised in the US and the UK.
I always watch these and think haven't they got them records already? Surely I mean everyone's got Talking Book
I'm pretty sure he have most of these, since he is a collector and said that he often have several copies of the same record.
"she carried on through it all... cheesy waterfall"
Stone Roses!!!
he's a very clever man with a wide and interesting taste in music and a big passion for it. so what if the music he makes is sometimes quite naff
Keving Parker on that track is just uffff
DJ Premier!!!
do duran duran again, and with Graham Coxon pleeease
Will Smith had sampled Patrice Rushen in his song men in black?
She plays at the Baked Potato in Hollywood all the time. Usually with Bunny Brunel and CAB. Seen her play twice. She's a lovely person.
I imagine it was probably Jazzy Jeff doing the sampling not Will!
This is the fourth "What's in my bag" that has a Tame Impala record in it. ...guess I have to give them a listen.
+rex racer yes! Amazing band!
Why wouldn't he mention The Stone Roses?
2:35 Light my Fire
Its hardd to even hear Gang Starr, get sentimental about them, they were my first true love for hiphop
WHATS KEVIN PARKER DOING IN THE INTRO??
whats the name of the intro track? sounds like tame impala...
Daffodils by Mark Ronson (with Kevin Parker of Tame Impala on vocals)
Is this the record store in the Haight Ashbury?
Neil Whitelaw the Haight is in San Francisco, this one is in Hollywood (LA)
Never really liked this guy ..you know when you never met someone but just take offense to their demeanor..one of those..but now I kinda like him...we got very similar taste..nice work Ron!
His voice is so high here ,just me ?
He reminds me of Alex turner for some reason
Same! Both look manly and classic
He reminds me of mark foster
What kind of accent is that?
CheesecakeLasagna a mark ronson
Who Is Mark Ronson?
Coincidence that Action Bronson is on the thumbnail with the ghostface beef flaring up today?

+Godfrey Francesco darude - sandstorm
can someone explain the plastic things around the albums?
Protect the cover...and it encloses the record in the sleeve.
@@sabrinan4792 thanks Sabrina
@@lLostGems Buying vinyl was a treasured activity. For new albums back when, you'd tear away the factory shrink wrap and get the first whiff of the aroma of vinyl inside the sleeve and the fresh cardboard sleeve with the great art work. Since Ameoba buys and sells used records, the plastic shrink wrap that they do helps protect the product from dust and grime, etc. Ameoba in L.A. is moving to another building. Sad, it is a cool building inside and out, making way for some modern monstrosity.
Tame Impala & Bill Withers rock! ;) Check out SUICIDE KID - FOR HEADPHONES! :)
His dad never seemed to get the recognition he deserved?
Mark Ronson is an obvious music loving prodigy, while all of you were playing nintendo he was practising his art,Informatve
Isso é isso
Gang Starr yay!
Slurred speech, he sounds high!
Check out his TED talk - unless he also did that high, which would almost be career suicide, that's just how he talks.
I don't think anyone would care if a recording artist did a TED talk while high. And a TED talk is just talking for like 10-20 minutes, most people could probably do that with a little buzz on.
I'm not excited. Who is this guy.
I always get mark ronson and Calvin Harris mixed up for some reason
THAT'S FUCKING FASCINATING
Do Action Bronson
That would be amazing. We'd love to.
Still guilty of butchering Stop If You’ve Heard This One Before by The Smiths
BJORK WHATS IN MY BAG!
Daniel Bernas Hell yeeeaaaasass
"My name's Mark Ronson and these are the songs I'll be ripping off on my next album..."
Under 301 club
Des funk dasre
Patrice rushen... more like patrician. Am I right?
Bell-End.
He said 'incredible' too often
Does every damn hipster out there have to talk about how great and profound To Pimp A Butterfly is? Smfh
Had expected a bit of eclectic picks , from such a smart guy, not just fucking *one* type of 'funky' music.....
Would dread to catch him d-jaying per accident.......I love all kinds of black music, but also Led Zeppelin obscure psychedelia and electronic stuff....Would be like a jaw dropping nightmare to have only the kind of stuff Mr.Ronson picked.....😫
Patrice wasn't R&B ..
😍
