I was born in a remote village in Southern China and my parents brought me to the cities-and later abroad-when I was seven. Watching this video brought back memories of my hometown. It’s heartbreaking to think that many of these villages will vanish in the years to come, as the older generation passes on and the younger ones move to the cities. The village where I grew up, which holds so many cherished memories, is no exception. I visit almost every year, and each time I find something worth capturing to preserve those moments. This Chinese New Year, I’ll be going back again, and I’m excited to document it through video. Your channel has been a great source of inspiration for me!
Absolutely loved the editing and the way you presented this video! The transitions and storytelling are so well done, making it a joy to watch. I also share your passion for exploring villages and the less mainstream parts of China - there's so much history and charm to uncover in these hidden gems. Keep up the amazing work!
I've said it before and once again. I have to say your little documentaries are second to none. The way you film and edit is very professional. The narration and music you add draws the viewer in and makes the videos interesting and educational.
Beautifully shot and edited video as always, thank you. Such a pity to see those lovely old houses falling into decay, but at least you have recorded the village for posterity.
I just recently found your channel, your videos are so relaxing and informative. You show great camera work and editing skills, and I look forward to future videos from you, thank you for your hard work !
Thank you Honglin for another gentle and information documentary of a vanishing China. It is wonderful that your videos are documenting this for us, and for your country.
It must be so strange for the old villagers to be so close to their old abandoned houses and, in some cases, still use them like the kind grandma you met. I hope they can preserve even this trace of history.
I don't know why it took so long for me to find your channel after watching hundreds of videos about China but I am happy that I finally have. You are showing aspects of your great country that few people ever see and doing it in an artful, sensitive, compassionate way. Beautiful work. Thank you.
Always so happy to see a new video from you! And this village is beautiful. Love the nice looking and effective architecture style, I am sure many created beautiful lives for themselves there. And while I would likely not be a fan of getting such a huge bridge planted in front of my window, it does have an interesting and impressive vibe.
at 12:05 -12:09 was that an eye exam chart? thanks again for the video. I have explored abandoned areas around Asia. Afterwards, I realize how tired my eyes are just from looking around. There is so much beauty
There is something bitter sweet about abandoned villages like these. Within a generation this will become a global phenomenon that could last for centuries. There is precious little we can do preserve everything of historical value, the cost of doing so would be crippling for the dwindling numbers that make up future generations. And that is why your work is so important.
Non è uguale a quel che succede anche in Italia - piccoli borghi abbandonati perpericolo di frana o terremotio. Ho appena citato Calcata in Tuscia in un commento! Ciao un saluto!
Companies need to recognize that it is cheaper to have remote employees. Because of cheaper hosuing, reduction of commute time and cost of living in general is cheaper. The quality of life is just so much better.
This is no different from what happened in earthquake-prone towns and villages in Italy as well. One example is the village of Calcata about 50km from Rome, which also has the new settlement right next to the ancient village perched on a rock. Google it up to read about the details. The different cultures of the Old World are far more similar than what we think they are!

That area are mountainous so logistic challenging and everyday life community will be harder in adopting modern era.

China should create anti earthquake housings, learning from its old building techniques.
This village was evacuated because of a geological disaster and the fear that a mudslide would engulf the village
✌🤝🤝🙏🙏🙏🙏
I believe some of the houses have been vandalized or looted
Sad to see this happening, it is a lost of a community and the understanding of what true socialism is about
Wow that kind grandma's accent is harsh. I barely understood her, kind of like my grandfather. Oof
Also, random eye exam on the wall for 9:09
