The remoteness and difficulty to reach the pagoda and cave makes this journey seem even more magical and worthwhile than the destination itself. Like searching for a treasure that has been lost even to the locals. Thankyou for your hard work!
What an adventurous explorer you are! Great respect for your courage and persistent in pursuing your mission of 'capturing the little known places before it's too late'. The places you visited not only race against 'the clouds' above, but also against time and forces of nature. The buddha statues and stone carvings will eventually fade away, and so will people memories of them. Thanks to you, we get to see them before 'it's too late' 👍
Thank you for showing uns an other non-tourist desination, we otherwise would never be able to see. But to climed down the rocks to the caves was really brave.
You are obviously even craezier than I am. There are some places we have to get to, somewhere we have to go. Thanks a lot for taking us there. Awesome video. Thank you
You are growing so much, i mean the videos you create are just getting better and better.. the capturing of the nature sounds with your voice are especially on point this time again! Me and my girlfriend love to watch your videos, always so mystical. :) Keep on doing YOU! The kind of documentary you create every time around those special places is amazing!

I look forward to everyone of your videos the places you go and your explanations are great l would love to travel to China to see the places you show us but have always thought it would be too hard due to the language difference. Have you ever thought of running tours around China ?
That sounds great, but I haven't visited many places in China myself. Ninety percent of the places I've been to outside my home are the ones I've posted in the videos. How about I take you guys with me on a tour around the country, before I got qualified enough doing something more. Like this idea btw.
Another totally amazing video, Honglin! Your courage and determination, and the work you put into your videos (such as the passing shots where you leave the camera and walk on - people don't realise is that you have to return and get the camera, and then re-walk that part again!) all create wonderful footage. And your soft, sensitive narration gives us a truly beautiful viewing experience. 谢谢
@@Honglin65 Thank you for your video and I hope you do mind me asking you to have some of your amazing chinese instruments as your background music ...
Greetings from India and thank you for this very interesting video on Yunnan, especially on Buddhism. This place will be my next destination,so would you pls get information on accommodation and can I survive without speaking Chinese?
wow... dali is full of i even can't describe it... ok HongLin, do what ever you can do, may be you found something that even your ancestors can not found 😢 Dali exist since Tang Dynasty, i[m learning from Ming, wkwkwkwkwk... how far i'm lagging 😅
All this was preserved from destruction through ignorance and due to prejudice against religion, It will never be restored like Notre Dame. We are given a glimpse of what has been. China like many countries has other priorities and cultural heritage is being lost. I hear the government is committed protecting natural ecology but the same attention isn’t paid to protecting cultural ecology. Its as important to an appreciation of national life.
(13:18) No mention about the words on this stone marking installed after 1985 by the local government. It shows that these caves are neither hidden nor mysterious. The remote caves are difficult to reach and have little tourism value, thus few locals visited them. Such caves in the Guizhou, Guangxi, Yunnan and Chongqing are very common feature of Karst formation.
Hi there, thanks for your information and I totally do not agree with you. Long before the local government set a stone marking there in 1985, 徐霞客 had already been there and left his travelogue book, written in the 17th century, the stone marking you mentioned I covered 95% of the information inside the content of this video. Neither 徐霞客 nor the Dali local government pointed out 1.when the stone carving of this cave was built and 2.who built them, what's even more, we don't know the 3. religious information about this cave(Azhaliism or Mahayana), based on all these three points I called this Buddhist Cave 'Mysterious', at least the authority mentioned not having sufficient enough information claimed to be crystal clear. Karst caves are very common in southwestern China, however, the Buddhist stone carving inside is based on the natural shape of the stone so elegant like this is common? Once documented by 徐霞客 and still remains unknown is common? I don't think so. I wished people focused more on the vanishing things itself like the mysterious Buddhist cave hidden in the mountains like this one, instead of any kind of 'tourism value'.
@@Honglin65 No need to be so self defensive. Long before 徐霞客 wrote about the cave in the 17th century, local kids surely visited the caves. Religions don't make these caves any more special or mysterious.
@@stanbimi The energy, intention and seeking the best way to live, is a powerful force and I for one always feel a profound connection to the unknown people from the past.
