Starting heavy equipment training in Southern Ontario July 8th...backhoe, excavator, grader and bulldozer....feeling more confident than ever (Operated backhoe spiltting fire wood for a summer....loved it....only drove and Operated front bucket....very basic). Never did a pre-shift or went into detail like you do.....can't thank you enough for these videos....thanks a million . Great instructor

This video is unbelievably helpful, everything is detailed clearly. Thanks
Good advice on the inspection, a couple things I would add is the hydraulic oil level should be checked with the backhoe in transport position. The cylinders will vary the level if the stabilizers are lowered or say the loader is up. The other thing is the transmission level should be done with machine warm and engine running.
Excellent advice! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the tips as we just bought a John Deere 310 SL . 👍
Wow great video reminded me of my Navy Seabee years. Thanks !😊
Excellent 👌
Thanks 👍
You always wanted to establish three points of contact whenever looking over your equipment
This is my dream job as a 16 year old. (Operating Heavy Machinery)
Hey.
Don't be a good machine operator. Be a great operator.
If you want to be ahead of the pack, become a great operator of the Motor Grader.
All machine operators look up to the Grader. It's where the best money is and you'll get respect if you're good at operating the Grader.
Find a small landscape company to get started with as a general laborer....then eventually you will work your way in to a skid. Then it keep growing from there. Find some local operators who are willing to help/mentor you!
Thank you teacher god bless 🙏 you
Yeah these things happens and I strongly desire to operate it since I have the certificat
I just got this notification n yu post 6days nw...thanks anyways. Still haven't anyone to start my training am so interesting
hmmmmm
I'd say to check for complete operation of the bucket and rear arm prior to operating. That way any issues are identified right away instead of a more inconvenient time whilst working.
❤❤❤
Where do you all go to learn more about inspecting the backholes? I would like to learn more
👍
Thanks!
If my old Case 580 didn't have oil under it, that would be a good indication that the machine is empty.
lol....nice!
Do u have to do a tick off report before starting
I'm usually ticked off before i start and definately when I'm done.
lol
you should always do a pre-op...but I don't know many companies that have a "report" to fill out.
Grease pins DAILY
Open up the battery box to find the grease points sticker on a Deere Backhoe
Where’s the hydraulic sight glass
On ur initial walk around you checked the oil and it looked black , isn’t that a sign that the units needs an oil change ??
Depends on what kind of oil you use. It all depends on the consistency of the oil.
Not necessarily. Typically on the daily pre-op you just want to make sure that it HAS oil. Generally we would monitor the hours to know when it's due to be changed. Like on this one, not sure if you can see it but the oil filter has the hours from the last change actually written on it (this unit actually is due for service within next 50 hours).
Heavy Metal Learning Awesome thanks. These oil guys always tell us that when the oil is black something is wrong with the engine.
Maybe some diesel mechanics will chime in here...
Heavy Metal Learning that would be cool if I heard it from a diesel mechanic.
