- In depth tutorial on the process of Smoking Beef Jerky. In this video, I used Lane's BBQ Pow Pow marinade and a few other seasonings to make what many might call "Perfect Jerky".
I smoked this jerky at 150 deg until it was just right. Took about 4-4.5 hrs.
I hope you enjoy this video. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

(Slowly brushes off shoulder) thanks.
🤣🤛 thanks brotha! I put a lot of time into this one.
EXCELLENT VIDEO....
Thank you for recommending this video...
YES... I did need to see this... I learned a lot.
I’m glad your enjoying the content. Thanks for watching! Smoke on!!!
This is really awesome 👍👍
Big fan of your videos. Nice to see someone that knows what he's doing. Love the Lanes seasonings and smoke on brother.
I appreciate that! Smoke on!!!
Awesome Jerky video. FYI tip of the day if you have a vacuum food sealer you can cut the time of marinade down to 12 hrs and get the same results.
What's up Dave?!? Thanks for stopping by! Great tip. I've heard that but never done it. Thanks again, brotha! Smoke on!!!
@@TheAmericanSmoke anytime brother. That's how I make all my jerky and my homemade bacon cure.
After watching your video,I tried it and I will no longer be buying jerky. It turned out fantastic. I bought my meat at Walmart already sliced. A pound was $7.38 a pound and I love the fact that I can make it to my taste and tenderness. Great video as always and thank's for your help. I will be ordering some lanes products.
Oh yeah! That’s awesome
I just bought the same smoker you own. I have been watching your channel for about a year now and found out your neighbor works with me. He loves your food. I was on the fence about vertical or barrel type Pit Boss. I'm glad I went with the vertical. Three cooks in and I'm hooked. I did manage to burn up 30 or so wings when the water pan ran out. Trial and error..... You are very informative and i look forward to watching more videos. I like your new set by the way. Go MSU Bulldogs!
Thanks for watching! Wings can get away from you quick. Are your referring to Forest?
Thanks for watching and Smoke on!!!
Awesome video man! I love jerky so I’m gonna have to try this
It’s killer! Thanks for watching
Fantastic as usual. Another great use of our pellet smoker. Going to give this a try. Thanks!
Thank you, my friend! Let me know how it turns out. Come over to American Smoke in Facebook sometime. Smoke on!!!
Morning Zach, I just saw this video. I will be doing this in the future. My friend has some venison in his freezer, which I might give that a shot also.
Deer jerky is hard to beat! Here is a little video I made on deer jerky a while back. Thanks for watching and smoke on!!!

Nice. Can't wait to try.
The jerky will not last long. It's very good! Thanks for watching and smoke on!!!
Like the video. Just wondering if you had water in water pan. Heard some people don't have water in pan when smoking Jerky. Trying your recipe this weekend.
No water for me when making jerky.
Thanks for watching!
Currently doing this on the smoker right now! I got an eye round and am doing it on the same pit boss
Nice! Share some pics of your jerky over at American Smoke Carnivores onFacebook.
Smoke on!!!
@@TheAmericanSmoke Some of the best beef jerky I ever had. Thanks for video it was a big help!
That’s awesome!
Great video! Just wondering if the jerky needs to be refrigerated afterward or if it can be kept at room temperature like store-bought. I'm just not sure what preservatives they use in the typical consumer products and if that's different than homemade. Thanks!
Mine usually only lasts a few days. It’s good for that amount of time. It will last weeks on the fridge. If you want to go longer than that, you will need some curing salts.
Thanks for watching!
I couldn't find the Pow Pow sauce locally but I picked up Panda Mandarin Teriyaki sauce and a top round roast and have it marinating in the fridge for Sunday! Thanks for sharing your knowledge Zack!
@@dansams1902 teriyaki jerky is excellent! Smoke on!!!
Most Excellent Video
Thank you and thanks for watching! Smoke on!!!
Hey Zack. Is the POW POW sauce spicey? It sounds awesome, but I can't do spicey.
Not spicy at all. Very mild but flavorful.
@TheAmericanSmoke
Do you still put water on the water bowl to smoke the jerky?
That is a negative
Awesome 🍻🔥👍
We ate this jerky in under a week. It’s was awesome. Smoke on!!!
What are your thoughts on the pit boss 7 series? I'm thinking of purchasing one to get away from my propane smoker.
I can't lie. I have no experience with that model. There are several Facebook groups dedicated to Pit Boss. You could get some solid feedback there.
Come over to American Smoke Carnivores on Facebook and one of my members will probably be able to tell you all about it.
Smoke on!!!
@@TheAmericanSmoke thank you Sir.
i would assume that this would work with venison as well. I have a bunch of it left over in the freezer that I need to do something with.
100% the main difference between venison and beef is the fat content. And since lean cuts of beef are used for jerky, there is practically no difference. I actually prefer deer jerky to beef, but both are delicious. Thanks for watching and smoke on!
Skipper.
Ole skipper! Great guy
Awesome can't wait to try this..
It’s a winner for sure!
Since I'm dehydrate the meat, do I want to fill my water pan?
That’s a negative
