This Is The King Of Fried Rice

- Disclaimer: yes yes I’m using an induction wok. It’s not ideal but it’s good enough 😘.
Alright gangstas lets cut the shit and end this egg fried rice shaming. There are so many different ways you can do fried rice, many different cuisines behind it too.
BUT when it comes down to just pure flavour and complexity, this for me is top tier. Sweet, salty, smokey and spicy with a hint of funkiness/msg from our sambal.
This is MY take on the nasi goreng.
There's no chilli jam, but there is sambal.
No MSG, but there is sambal (which has MSG in it from the chicken powder)
No peas and carrots, but there is sambal.
No Uncle Roger, but there is sambal.
Look, whichever way you look at it. This IS the best fried rice, it's got way more flavour and so much more fun to eat.
Don't agree with me? Then go and make yourself a bowl of it and thank me later.

Ooh..uncle reynold is nephew certified by uncle roger!

Yay the nephew title!! Definitely way better than any michelin's approved.
Fuiyooh uncle roger has approved
When your roomates are sneezing when you cook sambal or nasi goreng, that's when you know the food's gonna be delicious 🤣
Oh yeah.. now I want to eat Nasi goreng
And also when youre cooking sambal. It is like you'll gonna sneeze like there is no tomorrow
That's really true 🤣🤣
I so agree!!
I used my diy sambel bawang(devina recipe) to make fried rice and i always sneezing i thought that bcos i used the wrong ingredients(i never made fried rice in my life so for the first time i just used sambel bawang😢)
Dude i love how much your personality comes out on this channel. I feel like you were super reserved and humble on Masterchef, but you’re hilaious and entertaining as fuck hahahahha
Yup he is hilarious
Agreed!!!
Im from Singapore and been to shanghai, malaysia, indonesia, thailand. And all i can say is Indonesia nasi goreng is the best because of its simplicity and flavour.
Really? You okay in the head? As an Indonesian I can say that Singapore is the best lol. No Indonesian fried rice can beat Wok Hey's. I eat Wok Hey literally everyday everytime I am in SG.
As a Malaysian, who studied in Bandung for 6 years, I can confirm, Indonesian Nasi Goreng is the best nasi goreng.
@Chaotic Borya Padjadjaran University. Did medicine there.

I showed this to my 9 year old son who loves nasi goreng And telor ceplok. Living in Melbourne and haven’t been able to visit Jakarta for 2 years isn’t easy for him as he misses the local food. Your video inspires him a lot and just like you he is super proud of his Indonesian heritage.

Sheesh, just cook a plate for him already.... poor lad....
Malaysian here, ive once went to Indonesia for a week and in every store i went, i ordered nasi goreng. Even at the hotel breakfast, i would always wait in line for the nasi goreng. Eating Indonesian nasi goreng for week was one of the best thing i ever did.
Funny thing is, for me as an Indonesian, nasi goreng in one booth and another can be very different. And hotel fried rice tastes bland compared to those street booth fried rice
I just wanna know how much did you gain afterwards. Love nasi goreng but dang if it doesn't go straight to the scales.
Wow very dedicated person.....
I thought Malaysian nasi goreng is just as good as Indonesian?
@@danielsoenarto1384 no, Malaysian has less MSG than Indonesian, which I believe Malaysian’s are healthier since it has lower sodium content which can cause high blood pressure and increases hunger
As an Australian living in Indo, I really like seeing an Indonesian go mainstream in Australia. I can only hope it encourages other Australians to broaden their horizons beyond Bali (when borders open again) and get curious about the incredible archipelago on our doorstep!
Zoe how are you?....i was one of your student, back then in 2013-2014... hope you're doing well
Welcome to Indonesia... I bet you missed our culinary 🤣🤣🤣 , enjoy the celebration of Chinese Lunar Year on West Borneo and I bet you will impressed
I've been to Indonesia 6 times. It's indeed Sedaap!! Dan saya selalu makan Nasi Goreng Ayam (Hope my Bahasa is correct).. Watching from Philippines..
No problem and thank you.
@@TheIndonesianPride sama sama 😇
Indonesian dont really say sedap to something really good, usually they say enak or lezat 🤣
We don't speak sedap, but lezat or enak
@@melvihiratasoedibjo1790 thank you 🙏🏻 noted on this. I’ve learned something new 😇

@@ashvinvaidyanathan7239 Indonesia and Netherlands are friend now lmao. Kaasstengels is our typical Eid al Fitr food now. Hagelslag is our choice of breakfast if we're in a hurry. Kroepoek is practically become part of Dutch cuisine now.
We're not like some countries who blame their colonizers for everything wrong with the country lmaooo.
Nasi goreng is zeker weten een heerlijke maaltijd 👊
Worry not much, Dutch flavour enriched indonesian's taste as well 🤗
Let's all agree that every asian country has the best egg fried rice.
Trueee
If by every Asian country, you mean Indonesia, then yes. Of course.
@@ngkos17 Malaysian too
Had em all. They go best with their own different dish of added protein.
Honestly... Im not mad about the electric stovetop, cause majority of us don't have a fancy wok burner in our homes. This just proves you can make an easy and yummy fried rice without it at home :)
In our country, electric stove are the ones thats considered as fancy. Prolly becuz of the amount of electric bills due to it.
@@nomnom3019 true. here gas burner and wood stove is more common.
Electric burner is seen as a luxury, in most household its traditional gas stove
Anything that has magnet can work on induction
Well. That's a very good quality wok he has.
I lived in Malaysia for 7 years, and tried plenty of Singaporean nasi goreng, but I still feel that Indonesian, especially 'Jakarta' Nasi Goreng is da best-
what makes it different?
@@arthurpradipta4500 the sambal
@@arthurpradipta4500 the seasoning ofc...
Same, i ate so many nasi goreng in SG and a couple in malaysia...but the best is the ones you find in jakarta. I think the difference is the sambal which contains terasi( belacan) and the sweet soy saucem
I got it, because malay SG and indo has their own style of making nasi goreng...
when sambal gets in the wok, your entire household will sneeze like flash is staggering the run so he can dissappear into another timeline.
Hi Reynold. I've watched you since Master Chef and I really want to be just like you. I love food but I'm not that good in cooking and you just inspired me to learn and do my best. Continue to inspire people with your great cooking. God bless you.
Love lots from the Philippines ❤️
I like how one of arguably the best patissiers in the world, a chef known for intrisicality and careful proceduring, always manages to cause one accident in every video. I love this man.
Uncle Roger approves of this.
And that impression is spot on btw.
I was about to say this
Yeah i thinking about it
Now we can call him uncle reynold
I think he is dying for Uncle Roger to do him 😬
the impression wasn't accurate, he was using like a weird mash of vietnamese / hongkong accent. and we all know where uncle roger comes from.
I am amazed when he said Bawang Goreng. I thought he is a Filipino. We also use the term bawang here. New Sub here. :) Indonesian Fried Rice is really delicious :)
His impression of uncle Roger is so precise though
right? that little snippet had me dying as well lmfao
😭😂
You know you make a good dish if you successfully make your housemates sneezing terribly while you're cooking 🤣🤣🤣
And you just ignore it lol
@@Mysasser1 for sure, we know we're creating a masterpiece hahaha
Ah yes i remember that when I'm studying overseas, so we made Nasi Goreng as a dinner.
And because our room was small and my friend added sambal too much, so much sneezing after that LMAO
So fun how you use all these ingredients which we even have in the smallest supermarket here in the Netherlands, if there’s one this Indonesia has brought us, it’s amazing food. In the Netherlands this dish is almost even considered Dutch, as it’s so popular for so long now
The Dutch ruin every single foreign recipe 😂. Their version of nasi goreng does not even come close. I've been to Indonesia and have had the real deal 🤤
Welll asian cuisine is pretty much using simple ingredients that anybody can find anywhere (at least in asia) to make great dishes.

The smell of sambal in the wok or pan just can't be beat. It just makes me feel so at home and so hungry
Reynold, you are right. This nasi goreng is next level. I've made this 2 days in a rowe! I love it!
I've had Nasi goreng and i can't go back to normal fried rice anymore..xD thank you for showing me how it's done really..love love from Mauritius

Reynold, been a fan since your first showing on Masterchef, my wife and I supported you all the way! Absolutely love the content keep the youtube clips coming!
Wow, another me, maybe.
Why is he so natural doing this? Without script, good cuts. . .❣️❣️
He looks so happy happy doing this 😂 it's adorable
Though not Indonesian myself, my father was, growing up in the (southern) Caribbean---yes, there's a huge South-East Asian presence there---I can fully concur that we too rely on Nasi Goreng as the remedy to nearly all "ailments"... particularly of the weekend-festivities type. FTW!
"Eggs last" is exactly what we do too, we enjoy the runny-egg-over-rice variety. Some crack an egg over the rice while still in the wok & the burners are off, so the residual heat & steam cooks the egg.
From experience, for those who do not have access to a proper wok---whether on proper gas burners or induction top---a paella pan (carbon steel is always preferable, as all proper paella pans are, just like a proper wok) is the best suitable alternative.
His impersonating uncle roger was spot on 😂
No way man. He sounds totally Vietnamese in his impersonation , uncle Roger is an exaggerated Malaysian.

Waiting for Uncle Roger to review this. But looks better than most Michelin chefs
I remember this in my childhood, my mom would cook anything with sambal (egg, chicken, eggplant, etc), then cook fried rice in the next morning with leftover sambal and rice (left it to cool and dry overnight). Perfect dish to start a day.
It's crazy to think how efficient a mother can be and still make delicious food from it.
