Ohhhh shiiiiiiii I actually stuck to the schedule this week?? Wishing everyone a great weekend! Serious question, though: Matrix Resurrections?? THOUGHTS??
Big money = gud guitar. At least hopefully you get a good one. If it's above 1500 for me I'd rather save up extra and get a guitar made. Great job on the video as always Hunter.
Hey everyone, just wanted to say thank you for supporting Hunter with things like Patreon, and in turn allowing Jordan and I to keep working with him as part of the team!
EBMM factory tour explains why these guitars are priced the way they are. Made in the USA, family owned company, they also seem to treat their employees really well (many multiple year employees up to 30 years or more). Imo I think it’s worth it. This brand isn’t like a car manufacturer, dishing out multiple models at once, they make these guitars in relation to demand of what their customers order. Watch a factory tour. You will never see the same group of models being built or worked on at once. Every tech at every bench is building a different model. Multiple QC checks throughout the process. You have to have an attention to detail when you work for music man. A lot of labor and arguably care goes into these instruments. Truly interesting.
I recently got the Dustin Kensrue signature Stingray and I am just in awe of it. Coming from a Les Paul, Strat & SG, I just can't get over the build quality, the neck and how well it plays. Worth the money!
What’s the phrase? Buy once, cry once. You get over the price really quickly when you do the math on how much you’re going to play the guitar: Guitar price is X divided by Y, the amount of times you’ll play that guitar = Z, the amount of $ per play. You could buy a lesser expensive guitar, hardly play it b/c you don’t like it for whatever reason, and end up spending more per play - and if that instrument isn’t used to help make you money or bring you some joy b/c it “has that certain tone”, then it probably wasn’t as good an investment as the more expensive guitar that you don’t want to put down. After I heard that, it made more sense to spend that kind of money. And this is a guy who didn’t buy a new guitar or even look from 2000 to 2022. Prices had basically doubled and I just about shit (shat?) a pickle when I was buying my Mariposa last year and saw the huge increase in pricing that every manf was doing. If you’re going to play the guitar more, it’s worth it. That’s one reason why people buy a Stradivarius or a Steinway, Selmer, etc., among other reasons. Own a guitar for more than 20 yrs and the price per play is pennie’s, if even that. That, combined w/ the infinite joy the guitar brings makes it worth it at 2x the price. 🙏🏻🎸😎
Duuuude welcome to the Music Man fam! Ever since I got my Jason Richardson cutlass all my other guitars have not been able to compete. P.S. that demo track went soooo hard. Well done. 🤘
Another great video Hunter! I would love to see a video on how you record your demo tracks & come up with the riffs you use. I am honestly amazed every time I hear one of your demos & I would love to see the progression you go through to make such killer tracks.
Your musicianship is getting a lot better. The demo tonight was pretty kick ass and I have to say one of your best. Keep up the fine work Hunter your becoming a great success story as a you tuber.
I recently bought the new BFR Limited Edition Stingray RS that they have named “The Governor”. A beautiful guitar. Only 75 of them made globally. I have played several brands of electric guitars in my 56 years of playing guitar, and this is the first Music Man I have ever played. I swear this is the best electric guitar I have ever played. It is magnificent. I am now a major Music Man fan.
Great to see you play your first EBMM! Ordered a custom JP15 a few weeks ago and its the longest wait EVER! Played almost all the models and they are something else
EB necks are absolutely beautiful. That flamed roasted maple & oil finish is sublime. I would absolutely own one except for one problem; I cannot stand the profile. Too thin past the 7th fret. I can deal with a slimmer neck at the nut as long as it gets some beef as it goes up; the EB’s just don’t have enough beef for me. It’s a shame because they are very well built & sound really good. Top quality all the way around.
The stingray necks are much thicker than you would expect. I've played a few and was kinda shocked it's nothing like a jp or a cutlass. If it was thin, Hunter wouldn't have gushed about it imo.
Yeah exactly, I had a USA Cutlass and USA Jason Richardson and their necks were perfectly finished with the gunstock oil type but the profile was way too narrow so I moved them on. If they had a Fender or Jackson neck profile they would have been perfect.
Last year I saved up and bought an Ernie Ball MusicMan Majesty with the dark roast finish, and I can honestly say it is the single greatest instrument I've ever played in my life. It is absolute perfection
I absoutey agree that the guitar neck is the most important thing 👍👍👍 But for musicman, I realy love the design of the headstock. Got the looks and straight stringpull. The bridge is something to consider too, heard many good thing about it
4:05 maaaaan, I have heard counterfeit in years!!! Thank you so much for doing that! I also recently jumped on the music man train, and like you said: holy shit!! I love their guitars!!
Just traded in my Fender pro 2 Strat for the Cutlass($550). I am in love! Incredible! I can bend better on these medium frets than other guitars with bigger frets. The medium high frets are better than Fender's thin tall. They are perfect, and I am super picky about frets as I Hate strings slipping out under my fingers on bends. It is a masterpiece! It is like a EVH guitar but thicker neck which I need for my big hands. My hands cramp up on the thin necks. I just played my new Cutlass 3 hours straight without any pain. Amazing everything on it
Eernie Ball Music Man and Kiesel Guitars are so underrated. There are really good guitars. I love my PRS CE 24 with the satin finish 10in. radius neck but I wish they made them with stainless frets. Now I'm saving my pennies for a Music Man Cutlass RS SSS in vintage burst, flamed roasted maple neck and with the noise canceling pickups.
Some say his devotion to metal extends to household items, so his toilet paper comes in stainless steel rolls, and his shower has diesel stacks. And his time at the corporate water cooler included buffing compound and power tubes, but his tea was still brewed to perfection. The man! The Legend! Der Fish!
The pickups are in fact Alnico V. Two other details you left out: There’s a treble bleed and also a contoured heel on the five bolt neck. And yes, the compensated nut makes a significant difference and improvement.
There really is no comparison to an American made EBMM. I was even a detractor at first thinking there's no way that those are worth 4k$. Until....I picked up an EBMM Sabre. Wow..They are truly effortless. Your fingers just glide across the fret board with no extra labor. You can merely rest your fingers on the frets with no pressure. The trem is by far the best trem system of any other I've played. I didn't think you could out do the Japanese made Ibanez AZ, which is still an absolutely amazing guitar, but the EBMM dwarfs it in playability. I guess my only complaint would be that for 4k$, they would use aftermarket pups, like a seymour Duncan or Fishman. The in house pups are solid, but for the money, I'd prefer after markets. I definitely plan on getting one as soon as I can afford one. I've narrowed it down to a Sabre or a Cutlass (the rorschach red Jason Richardson Sig)... Nice review.
I hear you slammin on that Whammy, Fish! I hear you!! 😎 So glad you got to play one. I have two of them. And they’re my FAVORITE guitars I’ve ever bought.
Very cool! I just picked up a MusicMan Valentine BFR. It's unbelievably well made. The flame neck is just perfect. I've played Gibson Les Pauls and Teles for most my life, but this just blows them away. It cost me more than a Gibson LP standard but so worth it.
Somehow I’ve never ended up actually owning a Music Man but every one I’ve played has been amazing, well built guitars. Not all models fit my playing style but every one has had great fit and finish and were just obvious quality instruments. I love the Albert Lee model they made and maybe someday I’ll get the right opportunity and snag one.
I owned a 2018 Stingray for a bit, and foolishly decided to move it to fund something else (can’t remember what). The EBMM guitars are just incredibly well made, and worth the premium price. Now I’m thinking about acquiring another one LOL 🤔
I agree with you on Rosewood fretboards, most of which I am not in love with (aside from my first guitar, which I still own, and will be rebuilding soon). As proof of this, I recently noticed that of the roughly 45 fretboard blanks, and the dozen figured wood billet slabs suitable for use as fretboards, all of which are currently in my climate controlled, guitar and bass building, inventory locations within my shop, NONE of these are Rosewood (though I do have a nice supply of amazingly beautiful Cocobolo, which is, I think, related to Rosewood). Figured Hard Rock Maple fretboards on "Single Cuts" is usually my preference, with Gaboon Ebony a close second, followed by, Pale Moon Ebony, Macassar Ebony, Ziricote, and maybe figured Purpleheart, Bocote, Redheart (seriously, it's absolutely gorgeous, hard, smooth, close and fine grain, great for necks and fretboards), and a few others, ALL preferred over Rosewood.
Great review dude ! I'm lucky enough to possess a JP6, JPXI-7, JP15 and a Jason Richardson Cutlass 7 : MM guitars are just god tier instruments ! Beautiful finishs, shredder necks and great sounding
Thank you for this demo. Love EB, fine guitar. Have 7.25 maple, 9.5 RW, and 12 RW. The one on order is an asymmetric, progressive 10 to 16, C to D in ebony. Can't wait to try something from this century.
Yep. EBMM are THAT good. But I do not get why they do not have the back covers recessed into the body. It just looks like they go to great lengths to really polish the details, then they just screw the back plates on the body.
@@MaestroJericho no argument there, but they should have them recessed and flush with the body. I mean look at the pickup selector back cover. It sticks out so much!

Yeah, I was the same way about EBMM until I played a used Stingray5 neck through bass at a guitar center and now 4/5 of my past bass/guitar purchases have been EBMM's. Since you're a big singlecut guy, I bet you'd love their Axis series

Pretty. Fucking. Hyped! Hopefully it wont turnout to be a dud.

I'm not usually crazy about cleans on humbuckers, but the neck pickup has a beautiful tone.
Several Limp riffs i hear in this vid. Love it.
Dude Hunter that demo track is straight up effing fire!
Fun Fact: Ben Eller has a video on how to make most of your necks feel like that!
For real, I own 5 EBMM guitars and every single one is utterly magnificent. The attention to detail on every aspect is outstanding.
I own a 23 year old one, and one thing for sure. It won’t be long before I own another. These guitars are on a different planet to anything.
I recently got the Dustin Kensrue signature Stingray and I am just in awe of it. Coming from a Les Paul, Strat & SG, I just can't get over the build quality, the neck and how well it plays. Worth the money!
