It's so strange, but if I rewind my life all these lyrics hit home. Every single one of them. Even down to the mention of Shannon Hoon. We were such big fans of Blind Melon. And of course I had that young love that was the night of the homecoming game and the voice in my head begging me to stay. "Why did we have to change. It all seemed so fine. We'll all go our own ways".....I do often ask myself why.
This is precisely what makes the brothers so great. Each one of us can relate to the lyrics on a scary level. The most nostalgic music in the world for me.
Seth also references Shannon Hoon in his song, "For All the Times", from his solo record called "Killing the Headlamps". The Timothy Seth Avett as Darling recordings are as good, or better than some of the group work. Check them out if you haven't. They are called "To Make the World Quiet", "Killing the Headlamps", and "The Mourning, the Silver, the Bell". I've been a fan for about 8 years, and I was lucky enough to have seen them about 15 times, including free record signings and $10 bar shows with 150-200 people. I met them a couple of times back then, and wouldn't trade some of those experiences for any other concert experiences.
"You're the words in a song that Hoon sang to me And all around my memories, you dance…" Is this a reference to Shannon Hoon? Give me chills to see the connection.
@elgroomez : badass... jealous, i am... i miss the intimacy of their earlier shows... it's cool to see them have success, but kinda sucks that they just really can't do the quiet stuff with such effect anymore...
@rockonyourockers they're not much bigger than that here... i've got to admit to being a little bit spoiled... i've seen these guys several times in bars with about 100 people in attendance... makes for an incredible experience, but i'm sure they are more than happy with the increased ticket sales...
Perfect... as was Shannon
This is the only band i know who have multiple songs that get me from the first two words.
Always kills me just perfectly. Thank you.
Amazing and i'm soo glad that my new favorite band is also a fan of the one only Shannon Hoon... RIP my man:)
God this is beautiful
