I've been saying it for years, Fury is the best boxer-promoter in the buisness, he sells his own performances while downplaying everyone else's and the casuals have been eating it up for years.
Physiologically it's a case of when not if his body gives in. At 6ft7.5, once 400lbs, the savage shots to the head, the drinking, not looking after himself, running for cardio and being on the sniff as recently as this weekend can't be good for his longevity.
The look on his and Frank's face as ngannou was decapitated suggests they know Tyson is done.

If AJ outdoing Fury's common opponents was a one-off. Fair enough. I just feel there's a clear disparity now. Not training for a fight correctly is no excuse. That doesn't affect his clear lack of punching power. Look objectively at Fury's best wins. He bamboozled Wlad in the most boring fight ever. And beats a one-trick-pony who was a protected fighter. Fury's resume just doesn't stack up. Yet you have clowns like Simon Jordan declaring him the best of this era without ever proving it. That's the frustrating part.
For me, Fury has always been overrated. I think we will get all the answers once/if Fury faces Usyk. But right now, I put AJ ahead of Fury based upon evidence. After AJ lost to Usyk a second time & his confidence was rock bottom. Absolutely, I would be picking Fury. But a lot has happened since then.
AJ has rebuilt, and in his past two performances in particular, he is arguably better than 'old AJ'. If Fury was to face AJ next, I'd be picking AJ 100%. But let's see how Fury gets on with Usyk. Can he do what AJ couldn't? I suspect not. We shall see...

Yeah, this is spot on. It's what bothers me about the "excuses" made for Fury. It's the same with Fury's extremely laboured win over Wallin.
Basically I see a lot of "bad day at the office" or "he didn't take it seriously" excuses regarding Fury. And I feel like these aren't necessarily invalid in themselves. But...
These excuses just aren't convincing when Fury's resume is so paper-thin for how long he's been touted as a champion.

I don't disagree with the general thrust of the video but wish to raise a couple counterpoints:
    - You (and others you may have in mind) may not be "making excuses" for Fury, but plenty people are. I've seen people saying that Fury intentionally looked bad against Ngannou to trick Usyk. So I feel like (in this video, i haven't seen your other content) you're overlooking a rather large contingent of people who can't take a hint of criticism towards Fury.
    - You may have addressed this elsewhere, but still: I think Fury's performance is also particularly morally egregious. I'm sure Fury didn't take it too seriously, but that's just another example of him conning the fans. Him and his father told us Ngannou was more dangerous than Usyk, and Fury took the fight in order to obstruct the Usyk fight. Fury then continued to hype Ngannou up and say Ngannou- AJ would be a 50/50 fight. I'll always question Fury's sincerity but still.
-I don't want to put words in other people's mouths but I guess the reason people are annoyed when they hear "Fury didn't take this seriously" is because he SHOULD have to take his fights seriously. I don't think it's morally excusable for him to sell the public PPV fights that he doesn't feel he has to perform his best in. I realise this is a little disconnected from the central point of the video. But I do think it's a reason that people take exception to any "excuses" for Fury's performance
-As a last, more general point: Fury's resume is paper-thin for how long ago he first acquired a World title. I see people use the "bad day at the office" analogy. While I think that's often valid, to extend the analogy, I think it's less valid when one turns up to work twice a week and does very little. If he was a consummate professional with a couple of poor performances against contenders, that'd be a different story. But really, he's a clown of a "champion" with a paper-thin resume who's making a mockery of the sport. He just appears to want to forever hold up the division while wanting everlasting credit for having significant victories against a mere two opponents in about 10 years. I guess this is another reason that Fury performing so poorly is particularly egregious to real boxing fans. Fury made it look like an MMA dude can hang with boxing World Champions. And that just feels like another example of Fury's contempt for boxing and its fans.

It’s no excuse it’s just obvious. Fury looked out of shape and had a clearly bad game plan. Joshua had video of ngannou. Fury went in blind with no idea of how ngannou was going to box. These aren’t excuses, but facts.

  • @Brunosmith85

I know it's only ngonnau and it was his second pro fight but that was a devastating performance from Joshua. It looks like the public seems to be backing AJ again. Maybe not at the capacity they did before his loses but u can definitely see public change from fury to AJ. Fury only chance to gain public trust again is to not back out the usyk fight again and to do what AJ failed to do and is to beat usyk. For some reason I think fury will put on one of his best performances against usyk but will be enough to beat usyk I'm not so sure because usyk is one in a generation special elite fighters!!

Spot on. Fury is only good when juiced. If he is unjuiced he is is bang average. We have seen both versions of Fury. At the beginning of his career he wasn’t juiced and would struggle against lower tier fighters. Then he hooked up with the Kronk and started juicing and also learning some useful boxing stuff. That combination obviously worked. Now he can’t juice every time and especially for someone like Ngannou whom he should beat unjuiced. Unfortunately the unjuiced version is very very very average and Ngannou was able to cope with that version.

I've always held my judgement of Fury until he starts fighting those on the other side of the track. His win against Whyte was a good sign, and Joshua was in trouble. I still wasn't all in on Fury, because he clearly speaks a lot of crap and looks for fights in the most disengenuous way. Pushing Joshua for a fight after the 2nd loss was where I lost respect for Fury. If he was confident in his abilities, he would have pushed to have the fight with Usyk then and told Joshua to get himself back together and he would deal with him after Usyk.
Fury's current legacy is based upon beating Wilder. I've never rated Wilder as a top level boxer. He's an athletic freak, but never worked on his craft. If he had have not been so heavily protected and had have gone through these challenges 10 years ago he could have become anything, but he didn't. Anthony Joshua on the other hand is also and athletic freak, but he has worked diligently on his craft.
In fact, the whole PBC thing is a sham. Spence was never on Crawford's level. Cannelo humbled Charlo and Plant, Fury and Parker humbeled Wilder and I'm waiting to see Haney do the same to Tank.

But hes the of his era isnt he?
Hes the best heavyweight in a 1000, years???
    Hes the generstional great???
But yet he struggled against a man that was having his first professional boxing fight,
