bcdboot C:\Windows - initializes the system partition by using BCD files from the C:\Windows folder.
/s - BCDBoot copies the boot files to either the system partition, or the partition specified by the /s option.
/f - Specifies the firmware type. When you specify the ALL value, BCDBoot creates both the \Boot and the \Efi\Microsoft\Boot directories, and copies all required boot-environment files for BIOS and UEFI to these directories.
When fixing the Master Boot Record -
bootrec /FixMbr -- writes a new boot record of the system partition using the master boot record compatible with Windows. This operation does not overwrite the existing table.
bootrec /Fixboot -- This options writes a new boot sector to the system partition. Fixes damaged boot sectors, non-standard boot sectors, and issues caused by the installation of earlier Windows operating systems (pre-Vista). Ignore any error that may come up.
bootrec /RebuildBCD -- scan all disks for installations compatible with Windows and allows the user to choose which to add to the configuration store.

Rule number one "Don't tell your parents". Get one of your parents to power on the computer and make it seem like it's just happened :)

Hey, after I assign “z” to Vol 1 (my labelled recovery volume), and I type bcdboot c:\windows /s z: /f ALL” I get an error. It says “failure when attempting to copy boot files”

At about 9:50, you mention if the registery files display 0 instead of values, one has to return to the advanced tools. My system shows "0" and I tried the other suggestions in the video without success. Any further suggestions?

@@davidschmidt6013 it actually only worked to get my computer back to running. It still shows the warning when turning off my computer. I had computer techs look at in and they've had no idea why it's happening or how to correct it

5:17 when I entered the command instead of getting “boot files successfully created” I got “Failure when attempting to copy boot files.” What could cause this?
So I’m very confused because when I typed the chkdsk /f /r c: it said cannot open volume for direct access
And if I just try c: or d: (bc I also have a d drive ) it will say the system cannot find the drive
Also system restore won’t work either and pretty much the entire Command prompt I don’t working ig idk what do to it’s been like this for a day

Please help!!!! I am having this loop currently running on my desktop. It starts the boot up process going first to my motherboard, then straight from there it goes to trying to boot windows. The circle is spinning then soon after it blue screens to one of the two errors: Unmountable Boot Volume or Driver Verifier Detected Violation. These two errors are repeated endlessly in a loop.
I have tried doing the hard power down once windows starts to pop the automatic repair screen where all your fixes begin in the video but I cant get it to work. Have done it two times in a row then tried to see what happened, same loop begins and no chance to get to the automatic repair screen. I cant get to my home screen, clearly, where other peoples fixes start for my above problems. I have tried to open a repair mode from my mother board but it had no options. I remember older versions of windows allowed booting from safe mode much easier to accomplish. Windows 10 brought a lot of changes... I am not sure but maybe my computer is booting windows already in repair mode and still failing with the two above Blue Screen errors.
I appreciate any help in advance. Really not in a position to either replace my desktop or pay to have it worked on right now.

I don’t have a recovery partition. But my D: drive is assigned to volume 0, witch is very strange. I only store data on the D: drive and my windows installation is on C:.
I have the same problem. Drive mapping seems to have interchanged automatically. Did you fix it?

While doing bootrec /fixboot, the command prompt says "Access is denied"
Update: I decided to go back into the bios to check if the problem was secure boot. After I restarted, I got a message saying "Your PC/Device needs to be repaired. at this point I was fine just resetting, but after going back into the recovery environment, I saw the reset option, and a whole lot of other options were not there. Somebody please help!

Ughhhh, what should we try if RegBackup is empty or 0? I've tried the options of restoring and keeping files via cloud download and my USB, but neither option is allowed for some reason. I can see the drive and files, so this is frustrating Windows is refusing to boot and refusing to restore with a copy over the drive.
I wasn't able to get any of these to work, but I learned a lot from these videos. I ended up using Xcopy from the command prompt and just copied over all of my files to an external usb hard drive. I'm just glad I was able to save everything. Thanks for the videos
