The way Greg ends the song, “you are wind blown, but you are mine” just drives the emotions of the song home. Yes I too have shed a tear or two over this one. A true masterpiece that way too unknown.
I fully agree with you. This is a fantastic song and I cry everytime I hear it. When I heard this song for the first time I was blown away. This is a true masterpiece! RIP Greg!💗
Greg Lake is without a doubt the best song writer singer and guitar player i’ve ever seen. He wrote Lucky Man when he was like 12 his teachers told him to quit school and be the musician you are meant to be. Love him. I lost my 18 year old dog recently this song brings her back but makes me cry i’m a 67 year old Man
I used to get upset (when I was younger) with people who didn't like ELP. Then I realized that it was better that way. I would spend hours listening to their music as the background of my wildest dreams (I still do once in a while). ELP's music is truly timeless.
The same with me, my friends didn't care for their music much but they were always my favorite, still are. I listen to them every day, no voice in the world like Greg Lake, rest his soul. Their music lets me escape the madness going on in the world right now even for a moment. Shine on Greg Lake, you are an angel!
The Angel's cry at this song. Greg knew my heart. . . by heart. His songs sang to me. I saw ELP live at California Jam in 1974, best concert ever. Rest in peace Greg, rest in peace Keith. Your music will live on forever. 💜✌
Such a lovely song sung by the beautiful silver voice of Greg Lake. He was so talented and he will be missed. He had more talent in his little finger than many so called singers have today.
This is such a profound song that it has stayed with me all my life ... I feel the spark of life and love that is so close to God when I let it flow into my consciousness. And it leaves me with a bittersweet melancholy every time. And yet, I want more!
I played this at my daughter's funeral. She died at 42. She had lost confidence in the NHS She died from a preferated cancerous growth They failed to spot it The reason for choosing this song. Is because she never stopped believing in God🌹
In 1993, I had the church play this song hi volume as I stood at the altar waiting for my bride to walk down the aisle. Needless to say alot of people that didn't know of it said after that they loved this tune, was very apt and asked who composed it lol. GREAT pre wedding song! yay me for loving it!
@@sarahfish132 I played this at my Daughter' funeral. She was only 42 years of age. This song meant everything to me on that day, It gave me hope that I would recover from her death. It did
Such a sad loss. Greg Lake was truly a genius and he will live on forever through music and memories. Keith and Greg are in a better place together. RIP Greg
I heard this song again for the first time in many years just after my husband was diagnosed woth lung cancer. Great big ugly sobs, but so therapeutic in the beauty of this song. Thank you Greg Stuart Lake, for this present ❤
Another hero of my teen years has passed away. Your music got me through some trying times over the years... To be able to disappear at times into your words and music meant more to me than you could have ever known
RHIS IS THE ONLY SONG that makes me believe in “Father Christmas” 🥰 and I’m 58 😉 I loved Greg Lake. Doubtless his wife and daughter must miss him... 🥺❣️
RIP Greg, you as a person and artist took me to a journey I could never dream of...….and thank you eternally for your beautiful music and singing.. From an ELP fan all of his life.
Greg Lake's song echos through my mind day after day. A beautiful love song. His lyrics and music will last forever. Thank you Greg, you are sorely missed by fans around this world. r.i.p. maestro.
So very beautiful! Greg passed 3 days after my birthday - I was very sad. This beauty is very befitting for a beautiful and beautifully talented human being. God rest his soul. Thanks for posting this for our enjoyment.
I still have Works Vol. 1 on vinyl. Every once in a while I crank up my old tube receiver and Dual 1249 phonograph so I can listen in analog, hear all the warmth of feeling come through the air that we lose in digitally sampled sound. Greg wrote some great tunes, played beautiful guitar, and had that golden voice.
Greg Lake’s voice has always been a bridge taking me home to myself. I am grateful. Eternally, as I return again and again to myself. I miss the incarnation of my bridge... Greg, my love is with you.
Wow, Gregg Lake. A great poet, musician and thinker. Such POWER AND INFINITE SPIRIT in his celestial music. Such admiration to him and prayers and blessings and gratitude for your amazing contribution.
That song is so brilliant we love Greg so much we miss him so much here in Costa Mesa California thank you for the upload what a beautiful song beautiful video thank you
RIP Greg, you brought much happiness in to my life, and much more. This song is very very special to my heart, in more ways than one. You are and always will be remembered to the highest level possible..miss you and Keith more than I can ever express, after listening and being a fan since 1971.
I bought this album when I was 16 years old, and it was one of the best things I have ever done. ELP are timeless epic, legendary, and very unique is the reason I love these guys. RIP Keith and Greg, the angels will love your presence.
Such timeless beauty. Greg Lake's vocals are so perfect. I was so blessed to have seen them in concert back in the 70s. I'm 70 now and still inchanted by his voice and ELPs musical genius.
@saltersego I was just thinking and feeling this very lyric of Greg’s. At this moment, it speaks truth to my life’s situation: Be my authentic self no matter what others may try to do to your heart and soul. So much wisdom in the thoughts and feelings of his heart. RIP, Greg Lake.

This is music by musicians. It's well thought out in parts and performed by musicians and a vocalist using lyrics from a lyricist. I challenge any individual out there to give me an example of this today- and Iv'e been putting this to my own students and wherever I post. Forget about your own personal taste- if what you consider music takes no more talent than software, auto tune and a major name Producer/DJ, then you will have no choice than to look up to The Beatles, The Rolling Stones Pink Floyd, ELP Etc...because these artists are the Pyramids of Egypt by comparison and time will show that. it's as simple as that.
Musicians that can write and record music are non existent- I'm here to help. Won't you please help and tell douche bags all over the world that anything that they heard over a PA system in a club IS NOT MUSIC. Approach them carefully, Advise them to take a music 101 class- but whatever you do, DON'T PLAY REAL MUSIC WITHIN EARSHOT! Keep The Beatles, Stones, Howling Wolf, Floyd and even Disco bullshit by Donna Summer beneath decks until the moron is ready to learn.
You're right. I think there's more to it, but generally, I agree. I use to say, just imagine what future historians will be using as examples of what our culture was about, the second half of the 20th century. I'm sure they will come up with the names you mentioned.
Arguably the greatest song I have heard in my entire life. I frequently cry whenever I hear it.
