    I lost 54 pounds changing my eating habits. I eat less, I try not to eat bread and tortillas, potatoes, pasta. I concentrate on eating way less than I use to. It’s hard but I need to eat healthier.

    The "wake up call" should be getting off the standard American diet which is S.C.R.A.P. for Sugary, Carb-Rich And Processed and has led to the diabesity epidemic, which we now see in many children.

    I am skeptical about statins. But, my Dr is adamant about prescribing them to me.

      Look up the side effects. If possible find alternatives. Keep track of it to see if they’re helping. If you have to get on statins. Ask to start on a own dose and see if it helps.

    I've been on 40mg of Atorvastatin for over 20 years after a heart attack said to be due to a blood clot. I'm now in my mid 70s. Due to the recent news about these drugs I decided to stop taking it at least for a while. Most of the symptoms associated with this drug seem to be reduced. The question I have is will any Doctor ever advise you that you no longer need to be on this drug? And is there a point in life where, after taking this drug for so many years, you can coast (so to speak) and live without the side effects? I have virtually experienced almost every one of them. I'm now feeling better in many ways and would really like to do without them.

    But what about the scary side effects?

      Everyone is different. I was just diagnosed with atherosclerosis and put on strong statins. I am taking 80mg of Atorvastatin and also taking Nexlizet. No noticeable side effects at all. Under the right circumstances…statins save lives.

      @@wolveswithoutteethno side effects yet. You can end up with long term side effects. they start you on such a high dose. Is it supposed to reverse the atherosclerosis?

    • @wolveswithoutteeth
      @wolveswithoutteeth 6 місяців тому

      @@absa9942 There is no reversing atherosclerosis. The best you can do is improve it a little bit but mostly keep it from getting worse. Once your arteries are filled with plaque, it's pretty much the way it is. The high dose of statins helps to keep cholesterol at a very low level.

      @@wolveswithoutteeth If you, at the time of this post, were just prescribed these drugs, you haven't had enough time for the side effects to take effect. It's now six months later. Could you give us an update please?

    I think the medical industry is not being honest about cholesterol. They say the body naturally produces cholesterol and if we actually remove cholesterol totally it would cause organ failure. The liver produces it to help repair the body and also produce hormones. What they don’t say and explain much is why cholesterol hardens or calcifies in the arteries and what’s the root cause of that. My doctor addressed my high blood cholesterol but never addressed my Vitamin D deficiency which I think is what causes me more problems than my cholesterol and triglycerides. Another issue that is not addressed is the inflammation causing the arteries to clog or harden which is why I have little faith on statin drugs.

    You can change your lifestyle without statins. LDL at 123 doesn’t necessitate statins .

    Her actions have nothing to do with the statins, it has everything to do with her actions. Again I say that this is very poor advice from a trusted voice.
