You had me at Don’t dust the ceiling fans until the kids go to college!
"Get a therapist." AMEN. I was raised thinking that seeking assistance was a form of failure and I went to my first ever session with that mindset. But I now consider going to therapy as one of the greatest successes of my life.
I feel exactly the same way, Charlie!
Well this may sound weird but...you feel like home ❤ Thank you for this 🙏🏻
😭😭😭Thank you, Emma!
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge🤗 ❤❤❤🤗
I’m gonna second Emma on this. 🏡 ❤️
Thank you for your honesty and especially for talking about your anxiety and your level of patience. I struggle with those things so much. The mom guilt can be so overwhelming and it’s a comfort to hear from you and how you manage those things, even if imperfectly.
"Do your work." YES! I've been seeing a therapist for almost 15 years now. Self awareness is half the battle! I can't wait until you can go overseas again and film your travels to your bucket list European countries. As a solo traveler I have done Italy, Greece, Spain, and more. You will love it! Thank you, as always, for your candidness.
“Eventually they will all be in school…” ::stares in panorama::
Le sigh.
😆😂❤️ Hang in there Rachelle!
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge I was SO CLOSE. With a kindergartner & 5th grader. I was SO CLOSE to them being out of the house all day. lolsob
Such helpful advice! I feel like you are the older sister or mentor that I never had, really appreciate your tips relating to kids and family since I have a 7 yr old boy :)
Oh I’m honored! Thank you, Ivy!
Amazing video!!!! Awesome questions and answers!!! It felt like a TED talk!!! Thank you soo much!!! Yes!!! Get a therapist!!!! Normalizing therapy is sooo important!!!!!
You are amazing sweet Jen. I feel less like a loser because I don’t have it all together yet. Maybe the bar IS set to high for us - I’m going to try the 15 - 20 minute time frames! And see what I can get done!
As a mom of 3 young kids also working full time outside the home, I love your cleaning advice!
GOD BLESS. You’re the first UA-cam person to say there isn’t “me” time when your kids are little. Thank you.
I mean, you still want to strive for it but yeah, it's not easy and it's certainly not something you can count on! UnlessI did it wrong . . which is entirely possible. 😂
Thank you so much for saying this because I always think that I am doing it wrong because I can never find time for it! By the time I have time, I’m too tired and I go to bed lol 😆
Loved this Q & A Jen! It’s like sitting down and catching up with a friend you haven’t talked to in a while! 🙂 Thanks for the advice and wisdom and the smiles ❤️

It was my pleasure to enjoy your talk ( within my own time ) today spend a little time listening to your OWN UNIQUE HEART 🎈💌🎈
Just a thought ..Thyroid issues are connected to our hormones level..which influence anxiety ( managing is the key )..
Loved video. Love your transparency. Thank you. I would love to know how you plan your trips. Do you plan ahead?
I loved Portugal! It was my last overseas trip before the great unpleasantness and I'm so grateful my friend and I got to go! Greece is definitely top of my list for travel when we're comfortable doing so again
Oh man! Hearty "Amen!" Sister! Yes, there is no "me time" with little kids. 👍 My husband is a pilot. I'm struggling with basically single parenting, and resenting his job a lot lately. You are very encouraging. I need you to rub off on me. 😆 Thanks or your channel.
ehm ... hi...Belgium?! :-p
Loved this video, I said it multiple times already but I love your honesty! Especially with the parenting... in the end, we are all just trying our best, right? :-)
Oh I hope you get to move back to California some day, Jen!
This one had all the components of why I LOVE your videos. I burst into song in my head (This is Me), incredibly sound advice on SO many topics, complete honesty with a pinch of none of us are perfect and that's perfectly OK, topped with a LOL......I'm honestly torn between your inspirational skills vs your comedic skills and have decided they go together. Thanks for doing what you do.
You resonate so much with me, Jen…really enjoy your channels💖. Om a superficial note😁, may I ask where you bought your beautiful top? Looks wonderful on you!😍
I found you through your Disney content but I am really enjoying your other videos as well. You have a very honest and positive vibe. I also struggle with chronic health challenges, and I appreciate your attitude. Thank you!
Thanks for emphesising that your house doesn't have to be super clean. Sure, we can afford a housekeeper but we feel uncomfortable with having a stranger in the house. So, we got a real good robot vacuum and hubby and I share the house work. It's just the two of us these days so our house doesn't get that messy. And btw, we still skip the cleaning of the baseboards and go hiking or something instead. :D
JEN!!! As a licensed therapist I cannot tell you just how much I truly appreciate that your favorite advice to give is to get a therapist! Not gonna lie, my work life has been extremely challenging during the great unpleasantness, but I get to see on a daily basis how much paying attention to your mental health can make life better in so many ways. So, thank you!!
I wish it were more accessible in our health care system! So many would love to do it but don't have the means and it seems completely wrong that mental health is considered a luxury.
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge individual, family and group therapy are all covered by Medicaid but it's tough to find providers. The paperwork involved, not to mention what's involved in becoming an approved site for Medicaid puts most therapists off. It's a systemic problem, for sure.
Jenn, Jennifer here! I love this video for so many reasons. First again your honesty! It just makes us feel less alone and more capable. Second, you give great advice! My grandma always took care of her house on a schedule and it really does make a cleaner home. But also it helps lessen stress. Third, not only do we share a first name but we both have a performing arts background! Oh and we both have curly hair, lol.
Yes it’s the only way I ever get anything done!! Have to have that schedule or forget it. Thanks for watching, Jennifer!
I have twins who are now 21 so I understand how hard it can be. At one point (during a 3am feeding) I thought my daughter was possessed. 😂However, you also had a toddler at the same time! I cannot imagine what that was like.
I love the last advice you gave
A necklace I loved and wore twice of Mickey Mouse which was rare to find got tangled and then broke as I tried to fix it I was bummed for a day but then I realize it’s just a necklace and not worth getting down about
All about perspective
to sum up all my thoughts - you are awesome and so good for my soul!
Oh well thank you, Willa!
You are amazing, so honest and open, and very relatable. These and more are why I enjoy both your channels. 💜
You are just a beautiful ray of sunshine.. I have 3 kids to. It is exhausting..I know if you can do it I can to.
I love your honesty. How to cope with young kids and housework - hire someone 😂😂😂😂
My favorite advice that I have ever heard is, each week, plan a day off. If you don't know what you love, figure it out and do that on your Sabbath. Hmmmm, wonder who I heard that from....🤔🤗
Somebody brilliant!😆🥰
Enjoyed learning more about you. You're looking beautiful.
I love that you said you like being alone. I also love being alone but maybe it's because my kids are still kinda young and I don't get a lot of alone time. I feel more people should love to be alone.
One of my favorite videos of yours Jen, and I have watched many!!!
Great Q & A. I grew up in CA. 45min from LA. really miss it.
Your honesty is so refreshing!
I can very much relate to you regarding anxiety and lack of patience. Exercise is my outlet also.
I bought my mom a sign years ago that says My house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy. I still live by that philosophy m
Damn, I really enjoyed this video! Thank you!
Totally agree with your financial philosophy! 🎯
Love that you're also grew up in CA. Me too!! I miss it so much!! 🖤
Very informative and personal Q & A, Jen. I agree: my way of handling anxiety is exercise, and cleaning. It helps smack down the anxiety while accomplishing something useful. Also, I dated an airline pilot for a good while. We shared the same personality dynamics as you and Scott: both very independent. Missed each other when apart, but both needed a lot of alone time to pursue our own many interests. Dating or being married to an airline pilot/traveling spouse does not thrive with neediness on either side. I love my own company, have a lot of things that to do, see and accomplish. By the way, I too am far too impatient for my own good. I'm on my own prayer list for that, LOL. If you were to move back to CA, I would think it would be difficult to leave your son's in Atlanta. I lived in Fulton County/Morningside, am now in MI. My son is in Virginia, sniff sniff. A wordy post, sorry.
Get a therapist, yes! Even if you don't think you have any big issues/traumas to overcome, there is always something that could be better! Something holding you back, something you don't want to share with anyone else. It is work, but it is sooooo worth it. I wish I would have started back in my 20s.
Same, Shelley! Same!
Everyone has such good questions I didn't even know I'd like to hear the answers to!
I just found your channel and am enjoying so much. So many things you speak about I can relate too. You are very inspirational and motivate me.
Thank you, Becca!!
Jen, I love you and your channel. Great video!
Japan Disney is honestly the most amazing park!! You must go there. The attention to detail there was outstanding.
I cannot wait!
I love your heart & vulnerability! Thank you for sharing, Jen! ❤️
Oh thank you, Kelsey!😍
Thank you for this video.
Come to Spain!
Yes, I feel like a bad mom lately because I have very low patience. My eldest, almost 7 years old, has really been pushing my buttons lately. Last year I was a bit more lenient because of the lock-downs but this year she is trying to test me and I just can’t anymore. A lot is due to the fact that I haven’t had the chance to get back in the rhythm of carving out me time.
5 years ago we moved into a 4 story h9me compared to a small apartment and went from having a baby to now 2 children. Best decision ever was getting a weekly housekeeper. She comes 3-hours a week for the big clean and I maintain and do laundry. Best investment ever! Ever!
I am originally from the Bay Area. Fremont, California. We went by my old house this summer. Coincidentally, my old house is currently on sale and we went to an open house so my daughters could see inside. They are asking 500k more than what my parents sold it for back in 2006 and it has gone through 2 owners since my parents (who bought it in 1978 as the second homeowners). We updated every room of that house through those 28 years. In the last 15 years it has only gotten new paint. Everything else is exactly the same.
Thank you 🙏🏻 for sharing that you were not a patient mom. It really hit home with me. Actually brought a little tear to my eye. I always thought I would be the most patient understanding mom. 😫 Teen years are hard even when you have great kids. Also I 10000% agree if you can get someone to clean your house even if it once a month DO IT. It has really has made me feel so much better. Thanks for sharing your light us.
Things I learned: worrying about the airplane staying in the air is not actually going to KEEP the airplane in the air (LOVE traveling, don’t particularly enjoy the flight); I still need to dust my ceiling fans (I have asthma) and yes, I probably should go to therapy… Joking aside, I really enjoyed this! Thank you!
I love your true honesty. I also feel like I’m impatient with the kids and I really beat myself up about it. It’s nice to know I’m not the only only who struggles with being the ‘patient quiet mommy’….
Some good pearls of wisdom! And you also inspired me to clean my bedroom. Yours is so bright and pretty!
I think your bedroom should be the most beautiful space in your home! Because you deserve THE BEST!
Thank you so much Jen for your honesty, your wisdom and your authenticity! Love everything about this Q&A!
I have only recently started watching your channels. LOVE both! So glad I found you! Really appreciate your content! Thank you.
I adore you and your honesty, Jen!
I’ve always been the same way about being alone. I always felt I could entertain myself, so to speak. But I do love being with loved ones and miss them when they’re not around!
A lunch time run with Jen Lefforge Q&A playing, perfect Friday!!
Love these videos! Your reaction to your sons motorcycle made me laugh. Love your insight to all parts of life!
Loved this! I so want you to see Italy. I lived there for 4 months and there are so many cities you would love! Thanks for letting us get to know you. We have some serious parallels in our lives and I really appreciate your perspective.
Q&A's are always great and you give some great advice! Hiring a housekeeper was one of the best decisions I have ever made!
I completely agree with you in regards to adult children. Two of my three children are on their own. Letting go was hard for me, but it’s getting better.
Thank you so much for your honesty and your vulnerability. It’s refreshing for someone to admit that they didn’t have everything figured out and I feel that most everyone can identify with that feeling.
Loved this video ❤️
I love these Q&A videos. Thank you for sharing with us.
This explains why I felt an immediate connection with you…February I will celebrate 33 years married…my oldest son was 3 years old when I had my twin sons…we did have an oopsie-baby girl 9 years later🤷🏻♀️…my husband traveled every week for work (except he was always a passenger on the planes, not the pilot😉)…I worked full time teaching. I also have always embraced and enjoyed my alone time…we are starting retirement with our baby girl in her second year of college and all 3 sons getting married this year. Also my husband is a Californian (born in Santa Monica…lived in Claremont) and I am a huge Disney diehard. Thank you for sharing…I enjoy following your adventures. ❤️
Seriously, not an easy path life chose for us but a good one nonetheless!
I always enjoy these. Some definite advice I will use! 🥰
Get a therapist 🙌🙌🙌 . Such good advice. I used to do a lot of what my therapist called "catastrophizing" and she taught me the rule of fives. Will this matter in five minutes, five days, five weeks, five years. 99.9% of all the things will not matter after five days. I feel like it was her psychoanalytic way of saying "it's all small stuff." 😂 This video was so fun to watch, thanks for sharing. ❤️
It’s so true and if I’m going to be honest I’m rarely freaked out over the super important things. It’s messed up.😂
Thank you for telling the truth! There is NO 'me' time when you have small children. I had 3 children under the age of 5... 'Me' time was a solo trip to the bathroom!
Yeah I think we beat parents up for not having time to themselves like it's a failing on their part or something? Um NOPE.
I have a lot of regret that I wasn’t smart with my money when I started working. It’s really tough to make up for 25 years. BUT, we’ve been working on it the last several and it’s slowly SLOOWWWLY building. That’s my biggest regret
I get this and I have no doubt you are both going to be fine! Like I said, we can only do the best we can. But yes, it's a drum I beat whenever I can with the hopes that someone young will hear it and listen!
"Listen and not solve." This really resonated with me...I tend towards wanting to "fix" when my people vent to me, and that usually isn't what is needed, or even requested of me. Solving isn't my responsibility, but listening and supporting is. Great video Jen, appreciate your honesty and authenticity as always.
Oh my gosh, this is exactly what I needed this morning. So nice to hear I'm not the only one who struggles with "me" time. I unfortunately fall into the category of not getting to bed until late because it's the only the time the kids, job and husband aren't demanding me for their attention. Also, speaking to your adult kids listening to you more, it will happen. I'm now 34 and I think around 28 was when I thought "Man, Mom was right". At least for me the appreciation of what she did for me completely grew once I had kids.
Yes my hope is that I'm getting smarter every year (in their eyes;)
Wow Jen! Those last few minutes there were wicked impactful! Thank you for sharing ❤️
Thank you, Tanner!! That means a lot to me.
What a great Q&A! You are just a few years ahead of me in parenting and in life and your answers always ring true to what my next step should be. You are kind of like my long lost older sister, who I actually listen to. :D
Honored, Margaret! thank you so much!
Truly and with all the honesty in the world you are my favorite content creator. I love that even though we have never met, I consider you a friend. I'm learning so much about myself through your channels as well as getting a few laughs and so much joy obviously. Thank you for putting this out into the world it is so needed. I'm so grateful for you!
What a nice comment, Amber!Thank you!
Loved your tips for keeping house clean with the kids!! Yes, dusting is at the very bottom of my priorities! But also will try the bins system and switching them out every few weeks. That is brilliant!!!
I meant to say it also helps them with appreciating their toys!
Thank you for your willingness to share pieces of your story with us. I truly appreciate your openness and honesty. You're a special soul Jen. I adore you & I adore this video! ♥️
Kelsey THANK YOU!!! Your support and encouragement mean the world to me!
Love this! ITA about saving for a rainy day fund first. Love The Millionaire Next Door!
Yeah we’ve had some kind of major emergency almost every year! And I’m don’t think we are alone.
Great video as usual thanks for sharing ☺️
There isn’t a whole lot in life that isn’t made a little better with therapy and perspective.
Amen!
Hi Jen :)
Good stuff, thanks!
My pleasure Trish! Thanks for watching!
Great video. ❤️😘
Thank you, Major!!
Loved this!
