  • Exploring Vienna, the World's Most Livable City 🇦🇹
In this video we will give our First Impressions of Vienna Austria.
    Intro:
Wien or Vienna is Austria's capital and largest city. For 2023, both The Economist and Monocle ranked it as the most liveable city in the world. This is due to its excellence in healthcare, infrastructure, and culture. Vienna's crime rate is at its lowest in 20 years. The public transportation makes it easy to get into and then around the city. Austria is our 28th country, and its reputation has proceeded itself. Let's see what is is like to explore Vienna, the World's Most Livable City.
    St. Stephen's Cathedral:
Saint Stephen's Cathedral is impossible to miss when you visit Vienna. According to many sources, construction began for this in 1137. The church survived a great fire in 1258 as well as another fire and collapsing of its supporting walls during World War 2.
Today, you can get married here if you are a member of the parish. You can also publicly dedicate your life to Jesus while getting baptized.
There is even a picture of Mother Teresa, the humanitarian who dedicated her life to helping the poor, whose life we learned about during our time in Albania and Macedonia.
If you have enough time, you can schedule a tour of the towers or catacombs, and get a guided tour of the Cathedral in German or English.
    Beethoven House:
The museum is on the 4th floor, so make sure you can go up the stairs as there is no elevator. During Mozart's memorial year of 1941, the city of Vienna established this apartment as a memorial to Beethoven. In order to do this, the couple living here were deported and eventually moved to Aushwitz, where they were murdered.
The artifacts here seem to be all replicas, but still pretty interesting. One patch of the painted wall is exposed to show its original decoration. There are of course portraits of Beethoven. Busts as well.
In this apartment, Beethoven wrote his one and only Opera. That piece, Fidelio, was completed in 1814. Here he also wrote the 5th and 7th and 8th symphonies, the piano in b flat major, and Für Elise.
    Central Cemetary:
The Central Cemetary houses the tombs of many famous Viennese artists. The well landscaped grounds are a place to pay your respects and reflect on life.
Johannes Brahms, the composer of Wiegenlied, or Lullaby is buried here.
Johann Strauss 2 and his wife Adele's tombs are here. Strauss was famous for composing waltzes, such as the Blue Danube.
This is the final resting place of Franz Schubert.
Beethoven wrote the piece now commonly known as "Moonlight Sonata" when his hearing began to seriously deteriorate. He dedicated the work to his student, Giulietta, who he sought to marry but her father didn't allow it.
Beethoven had 3 burials. 1st in 1827, after his death. The second after authorities dug up his body to put it in a metal coffin. When that cemetary was closed, he was finally buried here at the central cemetery. His gravestone says that it was built in the same design as the original and erected by the association of friends of music in 1888 with financial help from the Imperial City Development Fund of Vienna and the Philharmonic Association.
This is WITY TRAVELS. And we thank God for our time in Vienna Austria.
Travel is such a blessing. We can't help but thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for this life He has given us.
In case you are new here, we are Will and Katy and we are a married couple that hopes to show you what it is like to travel around the world in 2024!

Right from the beginning, the food pic's stunned me I was not ready for all that goodness and now I am hungry again lol, this video must be in 4k because I feel like attacking my TV the pictures are just perfect the tall sharp steeples have always been one of my favorites to look upward and see just how unique they are and the clear rooftops inside the buildings are just unbelievable I don't want to play favorites but in my opinion there's nothing like an old fashion church just saying and shout out to the 2 new subscribers very cool and also what a blessing to know how to speak Spanish I think it's very important because lots of people all over the world knows a little spanish so kudos to Katy for saving the day again and again and the tombs above the ground reminds me of how they do it in Mexico and New Orleans and did not know that about beethoven very interesting and informative but always been a fan of his music so again I don't want to play favorites but witytravels I am giving this video 10 stars so thank's again for sharing this incredible video from the beautiful town called Vienna 👍 👍

Katy I thought the exact same thing about kaiserschmarm! They call it a pancake (that's cut in chunks) but to an American it seems eggy like French toast. The fruit topping makes it extra delicious! 😋

We were there about a month. We can't wait to go back. The public tram was literally a minute walk from our apartment. Then it took us right to the train station that took us into town. And there are so many more museums we didn't have a chance to go to. ❤🇦🇹

Beautiful city! Love the shots of the cathedral - what a spectacular building. Always good to be UA-cam famous, seemed like a nice guy! Haha 'no kangaroos in Austria' is the ultimate patch - love that one. Interesting to hear about Beethoven and see what's inside the museum - crazy to think that all his work is out of copyright and now in the public domain. Glad you enjoyed Vienna, what could possibly be next?!

That Cathedral has lasted the tests of time. Always enjoy our chats with the people we meet. It really is the ultimate patch. We only use UA-cam music, so it was fun to have so many options for this video! Thanks Matt!!!

Guys como estan? Europe is in my humble opinion the best continent regarding how organized, beautiful and clean the cities and towns are plus all the road infrastructure. Safety also very high. Nice new amigitos you made. I should start producing t-shirts, caps, coffee mugs and patches that say ''No U in COLOMBIA🇨🇴!'' 🤣🤣 Good vlog on Vienna.

Well the Kaiserscharrn is basically made out of the exactly same ingrediants (but in different proportions and diffrerent preperation techniques) as like as a French Crepe = what is called "Pfannkuchen" in German = "Pancake" literally translated into English (although Austrians call Pancakes different though, = "Palatschinken" in Austrian.German instead of "Pfannkuchen" which is Germany´s German) However that´s why she refered to "Pancake" (disclaimer: "US Pancakes" + "English pancakes" are different though anyway than what a "Pancake" is usually in Mainland Europe (Central Europe in particular) in general, because Mainland European/Central European ordinary plain Pancakes are foremost always like French Crepes but not that extremely thin which makes then a French Crepe a French Crepe = that thin lay out is the actual difference of a French Crepe to an ordinary Central European pancake..
A "Frenchtoast" is made out of "Withe-bread" BUT Kaiserschmarrn has no "bread dough" but an "egg+flour dough" but prepared differently than for a Pancake/Crepe by beating up the eggwhite stiff seperately which got then added to the eggyolk+flour dough by carefully folding in = so therefore it becomes actually a "Pancake (in the sense of a Crepe" ) SOUFLÉ" when put into the oven due to the stiff eggwhite folded in but then the souflé got cutted wildly into pieces ...."A socalled Schmarrn -dish" is always - something - WIDLY cutted into pieces, a "Schmarrn" can also be made out of wildly into pieces cutted potatoes (= a savory-dish with added small wildly cutted bacon + ham + onions) for instance , or semolina which is an other dessert called "Grießschmarrn" but not "Kaiserschmarrn" ..(Grieß= semolina)
By the way Beethoven moved from one place to the other constantly within Vienna during his life time dependent on who his current sponsor was so basically almost every inner district which are 9 out of 23 districts has its own "Beethoven-house" and 3 of those are museums the others just have a memorial plate at the front wall.
And it is Beethoven´s 5th Symphony which is mimicing Napoleon´s Siege of Vienna starting with mimicing the cannon thunder in the first movement named "Allegro con brio" in C Minor which is the main theme of that 1st. movement and overall with a grim vibe...while in the second movement "Andante con moto" the music is calm + peaceful mimicing the cease fire period inbetween the cannon fire periods of the Siege..the 3rd movement is then kinda march like with variations of the grim theme of the 1st movement and the 4th and last movement has then a jubilant vibe for adressing the end of the siege.

    • @WITYTRAVELS
      @WITYTRAVELS  2 місяці тому

Wow, thank you for all of that information. All very interesting. Especially the break down of the 5th Symphony.
