    Visited Vienna 🇦🇹 for one week back in spring 2022, and the transportation was amazing and reliable. In the old center everything was within a walking distance. Vienna is definitely a worthwhile city to visit!!

    What you might not notice during a quick visit to the city is the security. No slums, no groups fighting each other, even if there are many areas where people live who are not Austrian citizens. Everyone lives peacefully together. You can also walk through the streets in the evening and use public transport without any worries. Every apartment gets drinking water from the tap. All of this certainly counts when it comes to assessing which city is the most livable.

    Not to hate, but you literally took the most cliché things about Vienna - none of these tourist attractions makes it the most liveable cities in the world. With just a little research you could've found out that quality of Life comes from affordable housing, a good health system, great public transport, accessible leisure activities, ... unfortunately none of this was covered in your report - which feels more like a tourist guide than an actual report?! :/

    I'm very fortunate, in that my mom was born and raised in neighbouring Slovakia, in a town just a little over an hours drive from Vienna, so I've gotten to experience the city countless times OVER the years, and routinely cite it was being my favourite for a bevy of reasons. I myself was born and raised (and am currently living) in a major North American city, however my yearning to someday call the Austrian capital my home remains. It really is a special place, and that's especially highlighted after you've travelled to several other EU-cities, and even more-so after spending decades in culturally flaccid North America.

However, as someone who has lived there for 6 years, I can also say, I've never had better friends anywhere else. So while it can be hard to make friends there, once you've made it past the initial reservation, you'll have some true friends.

    Viena is a beautiful city, but this video didn't convince me why this is the most livable city in the world :)

      Yeah she did a good job showcasing some landmarks in Vienna, but didn't really explain why it's the most livable city in the world, but as you probably read in the top comment it's a travel blog channel so not really the best video to help us understand

    haha Leonhard is right, the entire city is a museum: just before I moved out after 12 beautiful years I saw by coincidence near the entrance of my closest grocery shop (Billa) a small black lead ball in the wall and it looked kind of funny and I took a closer look and there was an inscription below it where it said it was a remnant/cannon ball from the Turkish siege from the 17th century... and I was passing by there daily for 12 years...

    Cafe Demel belongs to Doco. Doco is the catering service provider of Turkish Airlines. You can have exactly the same deserts from Cafe Demel at a long haul flight of Turkish Airlines for free in the business class. Also these cakes are in the menu for breakfast for Turkish Airlines pilots in an everyday flight

    As a Viennese living abroad, I`ve always wondered how this can be rated most liveable (big) city in the world. I guess they don`t factor in the bad weather, the extremely rude population and the corruption in this town. In all fairness, it was also rated 2nd most unfriendly city in the world, just after Paris, so that`s quite accurate. lol.

    What no one ever mentions is that Vienna is a quite expensive city, housing is relatively cheap for a capitol and city of this size, but it got a lot more expensive in recent years and if you look for apartments to rent on the private market it is not cheap at all. Also going out for food, coffee, cultural things or whatever is actually really expensive. Grocerie shopping is (compared to germany) not cheap. When people say vienna is the most livable city I think that refers to people who can effort it to live a good live here....

      While the cost of a lot of things is higher than it would be in some other places, It's worth some perspective on just how much of a difference housing and transportation make. I've used a cab exactly twice in the 4 years i've lived here, and I spend 380 a month for my room in a flatshare. My overall living expenses are around 1000 euro a month, and they'd be a fair bit lower if not for the fact I'm in therapy right now.
      I can't really think of any US city where I'd be able to do this in, and rental prices are prettty damn bonkers in neighboring germany (at least where people want to live).
      And all of this to live in a city with a population of 2 million, a world class mass transit network, great museums and theatres etc.

      But your student room is not real life. You pay an average rent of 800 euros. + 100 euros for district heating + electricity. Have fun after your studies. You need to find a good job in Vienna. Everything is underpaid, even with a degree.

      @BetaD_ Рік тому

      But you are ignoring the fact, that rents everywhere (also in all german cities) got way more expensive in recent years...yeah going out is expensive, like everywhere, but vienna also supports a lot of cheap locations, so use them. true grocceries are a bit more expensive then in germany.
      It's a bit hypocritical to blame vienna for that, as it is a big problem nearly everywhere at the moment (every big city is expensive...) and it still has one of the lowest housing prices and lowest transportation costs.

    I also love the city center and the architecture. But as a tourist like you, you only see the beautiful sides. There are certainly worse cities, no question. But I wouldn't describe it as perfect. For me, liveability also means fair pay, fair rents, fair electricity costs.

    • @BetaD_
      @BetaD_ Рік тому +1

      certanly not perfect, but vienna has very fair rent and also transportation prices.
      And it doesn't have any slums, really ugly places or areas with a lot of old vaccant buildings/factorys, who just rot away...
      So certanly one of the best/most liveable cities :)
