Crime and Easton/Polaris killed Eastland. It’s a shame. Many trips to it as a kid. Going to get school clothes, seeing Santa when I was real little, going to the food court when there was Sbarro, Chick Fil A, Steak Escape, etc. I’ll miss it.
This was a great place to hang out in the early 1970s. By the mid 1970s there was a crime problem. Such a shame to see it suffer them same fate as most malls in America.
We were just in there. It is UNREAL how much damage and decay happens in a little over a year. It looks like nobody had been there for decades. Do take care if you have a looky-loo. (Even though you shouldn't because it's wrong.) Our ka-tet kept hearing noises like footsteps. We figured out the sounds were coming from the roof. See that space above their heads? That's got the ubiquitous glass panels. And the seals are decaying. This means that gravity(tm) is having an argument with the glass panels and the glass will lose eventually.
The surrounding ghettocrats really killed Eastland. I think American eagle left around 2010, which would've been around the last time I wanted to go there, but I went as late as 2018 for black Friday. Not really sure why other than it was open at 5am. I'm 34, so many memories here. Seeing Santa in the 90s, so much shopping with my mom and friends. It's really sad it had to close. So so sad.

I remember all three malls growing up. I lived closer to Northland Mall and went there the most.
Malls are over and done. Online shopping is the only way to shop.
Destination malls are the only ones that are surviving.
Lol as Easton continues to grow.....
Crime, thug gangs killed this mall.
Amen! I remember the day that Mall opened, and I shopped there for years and years. Then finally it was just too dangerous
Crime was bad in that area way back in the early 90's. It just got worse as the years went on too.
Very sad. Was a very nice Mall years ago.
It ended up closing due to a major water line break. The owner lives in Dubai, etc…

I do recall recently at one of these decaying (But still open) malls a pane *did* come loose, fall and seriously injure a person.

✨CAPITALISM✨
This is wild I was just walking around in this mall just 2 years ago looking around. I can really imagine what it was like in it's heyday.
Polaris and Easton- they definitely killed Northland Mall.
Why are all the malls in OHIO CLOSING
they are closing everywhere
New malls on the North side seem to dominate now. Just my opinion. Online shopping of course. I really miss shopping and movies.
Capitalism, Covid pandemic, many factors influenced and also criminality
