It's hard to say which one is better, but catch my Gen 2 video on the Discovery. I think the Discovery gen 2 might be something worth looking into if price makes a difference for you! Thanks for watching man, sincerely appreciate it and your comment!!
@GTMGunTotinMinnesotan was looking more for an actual measurement. .82 or .97 etc. I already got the arken lows but I wanted as low as possible and I know a there a limited selection of "low" rings in 34mm that are less than .9 inches in height
The budget optics are really great right now. I really love my Arken Ep5 , I just ordered another Arken. This is the first time seeing the Discovery, very interesting 🤔.
I'd personally really worry about the warranty process and sending to China for warranty can cost $100+$150 or more every time you need to have them warrantied and the very long wait time
I've been looking into these and saw a different video that has a solution to your ocular lens cover problem. You can take it off and it fits perfectly on the reticle illumination dial. Give it a try.
Are you running rim fire rifles with a 55MOA rail and with as much as internal adjustment as the Discovery Optic has. Just a guess. Just as your opinion would you run this optic on a heavy recoiling rifle such as a 28 Nosler. I wouldn't want to lay my crosshairs over. I understand you can only expect so much from a 400.00 optic, but them again I have Arken SH4 Gen 2 in that price that do really great. Were as the EP5 comes in over 550.00. Or would you only recommend this optic for low recoil and rim fire rifles to be on the safe side.
An interesting note for people in Canada is that the ep5 is 900$ and the ed-prs is 550$, so maybe these are close in the US, but up here there’s a bigger price difference, usually scopes do the usual 500US equals 900 cdn but the discovery has kicked that trend, atleast for the moment! Got a discovery on preorder!
Yea the arken I’ve seen shot on a 300 win mag. I only see videos of people using the discovery on 22s and air rifles. Now idk personally as I don’t have either myself but it seems the arken can be used on higher caliber rifles so there’s your price difference.
I'm considering a discovery for a center fire 6.5 prc. I saw a video of them supposedly shock testing the scope and was impressed. After using the discovery scope, do you think it will perform on a center fire rifle with moderate recoil? I just like opinions of people that use the product instead of buying then having to return it.

@commonsense5709 1 year ago I was thinking of buying the discovery for my 6.5prc. I ended up buying a riton x3 conqueror for it instead of the discovery. I tried out the riton on a friend of mine rifle and decided that was the way I wanted to go. Not that the discovery wouldn't have done a great job as well , I just decided because I was able to actually use the riton prior to purchasing and knowing how nice of a scope it was that's the way I'd go. I have been happy so far with the riton but I will keep the discovery on my back burner incase I decide to build myself another rifle.

Not really, they both send me Optics but only Discovery gives me affiliate earnings. If I was going to pick one based off of personal interest it would be the discovery because actually Arken doesn't do that much for me. I don't mind posting that kind of information. I'll critique both of them openly. The problem is they are very very very similar
Arken all the way! You can dial their number and someone actually picks up phone and they reply to email promptly. I have the 5-25 EP5 love it and the company that stands behind their product. 👍🇨🇦👍
Problem I have with Arken is the lack of quality control and consistency. You might get 1 out of 50 or even 1 out of 100 that's fantastic which might actually be close to Vortex Razor in glass quality while the rest of the mediocre average ones simply aren't crystal clear on 25x maximum magnification.
The big problem with Atibal and Discovery is they don’t like to warranty anything. C_DOES just reviewed a Atibal. He tried e-mailing them. Over and over. Even different departments. No response. There is a problem with the scope. As for Discovery Optics there are all sorts of complaints about them when it comes to their warranty. Nice scopes. But they need to get their act together. I own a Discovery. And I like it. But I won’t buy another until they address their service issues.
There is a video on UA-cam with a person with two that are bad. Amazon reviews on some of their models. They don’t want to warranty. I googled warranty problems with Discovery. Gentlemen went round and round with them. They at first wanted him to ship it to China. He eventually arranged to drop it off at a nail salon. Basically if you buy one you’re on your own unless you can return it to the seller in the first thirty days. There is no Discovery optic support here in the USA. As for Atibal. It was 1-10 SFP model.
I simply couldn't resist Black Friday Cyber Monday sale and bought several EP5's and EPL4's. Wow they must have changed something at Arken just recently because the EP5 glass now (the 2 I just bought) are way clearer than the EP5's I checked out 2 years ago and another last year. Talk about night and day difference in clarity in fact the new ones are clear all the way to 25x maximum magnification I simply cannot believe how clear these are. They look as clear as my Athlon Midas Tacs and Ares BTR Gen 2's on maximum magnification. The older ones weren't clear past 20x magnification but the new ones holey HELL they're REALLY CLEAR. I'm blown away. If anyone's not clear all the way to 25x maximum magnification send it back for warranty for a new one they're absolutely incredibly clear all the way to 25x for real. You have to see it to believe it. I'm scared to order more EP5's because I don't want to be disappointed if I receive more of them that aren't as clear as these.
I own the the Discovery as well as the Arken. I have three SH4’s and two EP5’s. To me the Discovery is better then the SH4. But I prefer my EP5 over the Discovery.
All scopes have error, and most show it towards the end of internal range. This one didn't appear to have much issue with returning to zero or tracking. If it's off at all, I'd say it's like 1/10th off every 7-8 full mills of movement, so that's hardly discernable for most people
He stated weight 23.99oz for the Discovery ED 34mm. I think it's impossible for it to weigh that little. I'd be willing to guess it's more like at least over 30oz.
Their website is basically throwaway info. It also says the scope is 13-something inches but the one physically sitting in front of me is darn near 17”. I wish I spent the extra few bucks for the EP5.

@@commonsense5709 I did return it. Amazon let me do a late return because their product page has incorrect information. The top ("about this product") part of the Amazon product description page is wildly inaccurate, but they have a contradicting specs table well below that seems to have more accurate info. For example, it says at the top that the scope’s length is 33cm (a little over 13") whereas in reality it is closer to 43cm (almost 17") and it says the weight is 680 grams (23.99oz) whereas in reality it weighs well over a kilogram (1.156Kg or 40.77oz). Honestly, it wasn't a bad scope from a features and clarity pov (I didn't have it long enough to judge durability) and I loved it when I first got it, but the product description inaccuracies along with the reticle not being centered in the scope just killed any confidence I might have had. The off-center reticle issue is hopefully a one-off QC problem with that one scope, but it's a big one - a centered reticle is any rifle scope's main job.
So just to reiterate, as a marketing advisement - I think they need to list things in the proper metric of the country they are marketing to.
