Women did that but because mens emancipation just began, the pendulum is too much on the feminine side and this turned into this men-hating feminine monster who wants all masculinity gone. Rudy's suggestion that homophobia is rooted in misogyny seems similarly divorced from history. In the 1700s in Britain, it was gay men that were perceived as and maligned as "women-haters". So homophobia is not simply one thing, but a complex of factors, whose justifications vary.

In my experience, as a teacher and parent, it's pretty clear early on, and certainly by mid-adolescence, which individuals are likely to be gay / lesbian. Not 100% accurate, of course. (either way - miss some gays, misidentify others as gay & they're not). But, most parents & and teachers don't raise the conversation first. We'd would be accused (1990s etc) of grooming etc. And still would be. One of my older son's friends was very clearly "gay" at 15 (yr 2000). Nobody said anything to him. Not my son (also 15) or my son's girlfriend (15). By 18, this young man deeply depressed. Still hadn't "come out." I said to my son "talk to him about it". His girlfriend did. They were "besties". He still denied it. By 23, he finally "came out". At the time they were (and still are friends) were sharing a house in Sydney, Australia

The most homophobic societies also have the most violent conflicts, may it be violence against the opposition, violence against minority religions or between ethnic groups. Homophobia is not a traditional value, it started at some point and gained importance often for polítical reasons as scapegoats to deflect from problems.
A man perceived to be weak or failing to fulfill a male role would present a different issue for social order than an effeminate woman would, especially for people who embrace traditional gender norms (which is probably almost all people who have a problem with homosexuals.)

But? I'm sure homophobia will always be with us, at least until gays are accorded a homonormative state, which will be never. I'm disinclined to laugh off being fired and a ruined reputation. Misogyny runs on a parallel track and not all the time. If we accept subset status we will be subservient to women. This also does not account for female homophobia, which on a personal level I've found more widespread than the male sort, which is more systemic.
Interesting that @benjaminboyce posits that homophobia may be innate to the species. There is actually sociobiological research indicating the homosexual men are actually a benefit to societies. It normally appears in families with multiple male children and the homosexual child is then able to help the mother with housekeeping but also has male strength, and can assist the parents when they get older because they don't have families of their own.
Rudy is great. I've seen Ritchie before and he's great too, but I wanted to comment on Rudy because I haven't seen him before. Excellent point about how men who are attracted to homosexual transsexuals are gay or bi, completely agree, they are definitely not straight. That's why it's called sexuality and not genderality, because it's based on sex. I think we should go back to we are men and women, there are three sexualities, gay, bi and straight, and however we express ourselves genderwise or in terms of our sexuality doesn't at all change the fact that we are men and women.
Great point however if I may rebuttal.. those straight or possibly closeted bi men would have to admit to themselves that they actually like men as opposed to justifying it by having sex with homosexual trans women. Never be ashamed for who you are, you are valid, seen and deserve to be accepted the same as everyone else. Never change to conform to other’s expectations because your individuality is what makes the world a beautiful place.
One reason fro Homophobia it likely the discomfort with the concept of having sex for personal pleasure and not for production. Having sex for pleasure is always discouraged throughout cultures and the only reason heterosexual sex is tolerated is because you can make the excuse that it is for a productive purpose. But Homosexuality cannot be justified for any purpose other than individual pleasure. The real tell will be if we begin making babies in labs and Hetrosexual relationships are no longer required to produce babies if the same intolerance for the sex act between herosexuals will expand. I think we are already seeing it expand because there is also a component of envy, if not everyone can experience pleasure then that will be a push for censorship of all mention of sex for pleasure in order to prevent psychological discomfort and achieve "equity".
It seems like with the majority of people I've interacted with in real life (that are my own age at least, gen x) their views on sex are more influenced by the sexual revolution than they are by traditional attitudes on sex.
I don't know about all that. The Romans were notorious for using herbal contraceptives and even tossing babies to their death because they wanted to have intercourse for pleasure but of course back then intercourse automatically meant pregnant lady, mostly.

I'm sure homophobia will always be with us, at least until gays are accorded a homonormative state, which will be never. I'm disinclined to laugh off being fired and a ruined reputation.
Misogyny runs on a parallel track and not all the time. If we accept subset status we will be subservient to women. This also does not account for female homophobia, which on a personal level I've found more widespread than the male sort, which is more systemic.
Interesting that @benjaminboyce posits that homophobia may be innate to the species. There is actually sociobiological research indicating the homosexual men are actually a benefit to societies. It normally appears in families with multiple male children and the homosexual child is then able to help the mother with housekeeping but also has male strength, and can assist the parents when they get older because they don't have families of their own.
If that social biological idea is right then why even out of Ritchie's mouth, thinking that having sex with another man is "icky?"
Rudy is great. I've seen Ritchie before and he's great too, but I wanted to comment on Rudy because I haven't seen him before. Excellent point about how men who are attracted to homosexual transsexuals are gay or bi, completely agree, they are definitely not straight. That's why it's called sexuality and not genderality, because it's based on sex. I think we should go back to we are men and women, there are three sexualities, gay, bi and straight, and however we express ourselves genderwise or in terms of our sexuality doesn't at all change the fact that we are men and women.
Great point however if I may rebuttal.. those straight or possibly closeted bi men would have to admit to themselves that they actually like men as opposed to justifying it by having sex with homosexual trans women.
Not that admitting that to yourself is bad but maybe they would have no outlet to seek a gay experience...maybe?
@@lizicadumitru9683 No, I agree. Transsexuals are definitely some sort of "cover" for those men who clearly have a problem with their sexuality. Admitting that to yourself is great, it's very cleansing, although painful, like with all difficult truths. And you are right, maybe they have no outlet to seek a gay experience, but the point is they are definitely not straight. Like in the case of Ritchie when he was trans, that guy who broke up with him after the bottom surgery.

Woke ideology is probably critical of the nuclear family but most gays and lesbians just want to have a happy life with their own little family.
I could see it being a positive in the long run. I think many women have a very unrealistic model of sex differences because of various current forms of media and this could help shatter the illusion.

Homophobia (a word which i object to) is a feeling akin to what you get when you see a brain outside a skull. For me, at least. This feeling does not make me want to hit or become violent. I just want to avert my gaze.

If homophobia is just the feeling of me wanting to avert my gaze then I have homophobia AND heterophobia. I don't want to see anybody kissing each other or being too comfortable. Holding hands is fine but openly making out in public is nothing I want to see in my daily life no matter the sexes. It's not even really disgust, it just feels so private and I don't want to be a part of somebody else's private life. This is also the reason why I hate seeing people wearing fetish gear in public.
No one is born homophobic though, if you had parents of the same sex it wouldn't be unusual to you, and at the same time you'd still be heterosexual.

Never be ashamed for who you are, you are valid, seen and deserve to be accepted the same as everyone else. Never change to conform to other’s expectations because your individuality is what makes the world a beautiful place.
One reason fro Homophobia it likely the discomfort with the concept of having sex for personal pleasure and not for production. Having sex for pleasure is always discouraged throughout cultures and the only reason heterosexual sex is tolerated is because you can make the excuse that it is for a productive purpose. But Homosexuality cannot be justified for any purpose other than individual pleasure. The real tell will be if we begin making babies in labs and Hetrosexual relationships are no longer required to produce babies if the same intolerance for the sex act between herosexuals will expand. I think we are already seeing it expand because there is also a component of envy, if not everyone can experience pleasure then that will be a push for censorship of all mention of sex for pleasure in order to prevent psychological discomfort and achieve "equity".
It seems like with the majority of people I've interacted with in real life (that are my own age at least, gen x) their views on sex are more influenced by the sexual revolution than they are by traditional attitudes on sex.
I don't know about all that. The Romans were notorious for using herbal contraceptives and even tossing babies to their death because they wanted to have intercourse for pleasure but of course back then intercourse automatically meant pregnant lady, mostly.
