- At long last we are at Brutaka. This giant warrior was a member of the Order of Mata Nui and hopped into the main Bionicle timeline just in time to help the Piraka, who had shown him antidermis’s ability to heighten his already incredible power. In what is certain to be one of the most anticipated review of this series, it's our pleasure to give you all the details you need to know before buying this set.

I love how Axonn and Brutaka compliment each other. Red and silver vs blue and gold, tall and lean vs stout and burly. Even their weapons communicate their differences. Like I said before, this has transcended being cool set design. This is character design, and this is as slick as it ever got.
They are the titan version of Iruni and his brother (not literally, but in terms of quality design). Both duos seemed to just fit together and compliment each other's designs so well!
Well this was unexpected
Facts
Without a doubt these two Titans were made for each other. I can't think of another instance like this so far into the Bionicle line. I suppose you could say the '01 Rahi but most of those were simply two of the same base set. Was there ever a bundle where you could buy Axonn and Brutaka together? Feels like it would have been a no-brainer
@@AllOutBrick if memory serves me right, there was a double box set advertising the Botar combination.
This is where the lines between toy and art are blurred, absolutely gorgeous.
Great way to put it!
As a sculptor, I believe that certainly toys can trascend into the realm of art, look up ball jointed dolls for example. One thing is to create inanimate art, another is to create art you can interact with. And for me that's a step above.
"I have uprooted mountains, Toa. I have ridden the tornado and filled the earthquake with fear. When you were still toiling at your mundane Matoran chores, I and others like me were holding your universe together. Do you really believe your puny powers can threaten a member of the Order of Mata Nui?"
Holy fk that's cool
Shit like this is why Brutaka was always one of the best villains and coolest characters. Strong as hell but smart and eloquent, straight up warrior poet vibes.
Are you saying he literally went “while you did your Matoran chores, I studied _the blade_ “
"I fell a long way from the light, and I can never find my way back. But the darkness is not so complete that I can't recognize a monster when I see one."
I love how Brutaka was able to casually face off against Teridax, even after pissing him off when he foiled his plans for the nui stone
"I speak for everyone when I say we wouldn't have minded an extra $5..."
When I bought this in 2006, I very clearly remember having 5¢ leftover in all of my savings after buying this
Well Glenn I guess you'd be SOL on this one 😂
I got Brutaka and Axonn for my 9th birthday and let me tell you, I don't think I've ever been as excited as I was that day! Considering how expensive Brutaka is now, I'm soooo glad I got him as a gift back then!
Nice!
Always like the fact that you refer to bionicle body parts with the equivalent muscles.
Brutaka is truly a thing of beauty, arguably one of the best sets they've ever released
It's hard to realize how lean he was until you have the model in hand. Brutaka and Axonn's masks are some of the best part of this year's titan sets. Having a unique face mold really helps establish the unique silhouette they have.
I always thought his weapon was a bit silly compared to Axonn, but considering how big and cool he is, he gets away with it.
Yeah the weapon does fade out of the picture in this set (so much so that I didn't feel the need to really talk about it), the mask though....
Fun fact the weapon is a gift from Axon when they worket together
@@AllOutBrick Even so, apart from the year's combiner "set" (and two minifigure-scale sets), we won't see that piece again in a constraction-scale set until 2008.
I like the weapon, it's a rare case of restraint from the designers that works. He feels like a no frills fighter that uses his raw power and skill without the need for a launcher or any other gimmick. It's also cool to split the sword in half and have him with the daggers out and a sword in each claw, kind of a general grievous type beat.
One hell of a set, but i cant wait for the review of the absolute u n i t that is the Kardas Dragon
Bruh today is such a good day. I got the day off of work, it's my 4 year anniversary today, and one of my favorite youtubers uploads a review of my all time favorite bionicle sets. I love Mata Nui Mondays.
Let's go!! Happy anniversary to you! Enjoy!
@@AllOutBrick Just finished the video AND THE BOI BRUTAKA TIES FOR FIRST. Peak content for bionicles golden years
It is absolutely absurd how good brutaka alone is, and together with Axonn they are just perfect!
i still have both Brutaka and Axonn to this day, such iconic characters and builds.Ignition arc is the best.
This guy is another one of my favorite titan models. This guy just looks so menacing like he could snap you in half with his fingers. He is sick a powerhouse in the story and was near unstoppable. I loved how he used to be a guardian and part of this mysterious order until he lost his way and betrayed everyone. Truly love everything about him
LESSSSSGOOOOOOOOO
Edit: on your comment about beefier arms, I'm so ready for you to review Maxilos. Imo, he is the peak "action figuresque" titan.
I still cannot believe this myself, but I just got Brutaka (along with 10 other nearly complete bionicles) for only$20 at thrift store! Until now, I had no idea just how cool this figure is and I am so happy to have found him for such a good price!
Oh wow!! Nice!
You got so lucky
Love the review! The colour scheme is amazing and if Brutaka would enter a bodybuilding contest he would surely win the hearts of the jury! His proportions are amazing.
PS: I'm the one you bought this set from, thanks again!
Brutaka was one of several bonkles my dad got in a big bin from a co worker many years ago, it didn't take me long to Find his instructions online and reassemble this glorious titan, he has seen a lot of love for many years and I will never even think about scrapping him
I managed to get him for $15 a few years ago, still in box. One of my best purchases ever tbh. Such an amazing set.
Incredible. How did you manage to get it so cheap?
I knew there was a reason Brutaka was my favorite: his athletic physique😂 congrats on reviewing the big man himself👍 keep it up☺️
Thank you!
Gold and Blue armor, huge Double blade sword, a insane and imposing headpiece. Sorry Thanos but Brutaka owned it better
Brutaka: I am inevitable
Honestly that's a great comparison 😂
Yep, Thanos has nothing on this as his gear never really looked that interesting, Brutaka though? He looked really awesome and he still does.
Never forget when I got this set for christmas as a kid, peak moment of my life. I literally took it to bed with me and held it like a stuffed animal all night, I love this set so much.
EDIT: Finally got one for 50€ a couple of months ago.
15 years, still haven't managed to get one for myself T_T
Anyway, Brutaka done. Time to hype Maxilos ('cause at least I own him and he's a great titan)
Check ebay, I got him for 50 bucks
@@deadtreedefender the european market isn't so kind .-.
@@Nailfut Im in Germany? It was fifty euros xd
Maxilos is overrated
Brutaka might be my favorite character in all of bionicle, man he's just so cool. Sick set, cool story arc. Here's to another Mata Nui monday.
My brother had Brutaka growing up, even now with a family of his own, he wants to get this one again, definitely his favorite of all time.
Flawless set, flawless lore, no notes.
P.S., This was the video that brought your channel to my attention back in '21. Cheers, mate!
Man what a great set, the color scheme and the build just work so well. Definitely deserves the high praise.
I agree!
dude i really love ur contents, you should have at least million subs man, keep doing what you do ❤
Just recieved this set as a gift from my best friends and I'm building it while watching the video xD extreme nostalgia. I Never got this set as as kid, but now I have both Axonn and Brutaka.
I was eager to hear what you had to say for this set. As always, amazing review!!
I'm interested in what you have to say next for Maxilos, it's one of my favourite sets because of it's amazing articulation.
To be fair, I think Brutaka was my all - time favorite Lego Bionicle set as a kid. His metallic brownish yellowish orange armor really compliments his dark blue limbs and back. And his red orange eyes give a nice menacing look.
I've been waiting a solid 9 years for his price to come down. Maybe I should finally snag one.
Really, dont wait any longer. Price is gonna go up
^
So much cool recolors. Also Brutaka and Axonn compliment each other so well
Congratulations on your videos! They’re SO GOOD. You deserve more recognition!
Keep the hard work!
Greetings from Bolivia!
Thank you so much! One video at a time, numbers will go up as time goes on, but the main focus is to create great content! Always trying to improve with each video!
Brutaka is my favorite titan and my personal favorite villain
Always loved how he bore a slight resemblance to the Piraka. Like the shaping of the mask, the flex tubes on the shoulders, and the tri toed feet. He just had slight nods to the side he was on, so without knowing anything about the characters this year, you can tell his affiliation.
I still remember when I got this set as a wee littl’ child… and I love it just as much!!
They really went all out for brutaka, its such a good set
My brother has this set and it is awesome! Brutaka really symbolize a good titan, by having height, hands and stabilty.
The way I see it, Brutaka's the best deal for a titan set in all of G1.
Maxilos (and Spinax) could be argued for as the best.
@@smolhydreigon8799 To clarify, I meant the best deal in terms of price, with Brutaka being 20$ USD at the time of his release; I think Maxilos is the overall best titan set of G1.
one of my fav titans from all of Bionicle. i have absolutely no idea why i disassembled em for mocs as a kid..
when i go back to my mom's place in the summer i swear i'm gonna take a few days scrounging through pieces to reassemble my boy
I’m getting a Brutaka tomorrow. Pretty much in mint condition only missing a few small pieces that I can easily replace. So excited I always wanted this model.
Axonn and Brutaka are probably my 2 favourite Bionicle sets (not counting combinations). My best friend had them both and I was insanely envious. He let me borrow them for like a week, I already had Vezon & Fenrakk so I was able to build Kardas and it was probably the happiest few days of my entire childhood :')
Finally, my all time favorite Bionicle set. Such a cool character :)
What I loved about the commercial on these 2006 titan sets is that the narrator briefly mentioned Brutaka and Axonn's past friendship before their falling out
When I was a kid, I got Axxon first, but I ended up falling in love with Brutaka. I eventually grew out of lego, but his mask is one of three lego pieces I still have to this day. The other two being the silver mask of life and the mash of shadows from '09. I always imagined Brutaka's back daggers to be laser beams, since they had that little spike between the blades.
Well now... It's a damn good thing I kept this set. I've sold most of Bionicles a few years ago, but I kept the Toa Mata and a select few I really liked. Thankfully Brutaka was one of those sets. I was so relieved when I found him among the other sets in my shed. He now stands proudly among other great figures on my display shelf.
Bionicles were always cool looking sets, but they still had a toyetic aesthetic to them, being Legos and all. Brutaka, on the other hand, is a masterfully crafted set with such presence and a fantastic color scheme, that it truly is a high end collectable. Even as a kid I knew that I got myself an incredible Bionicle all those years ago.
Lastly, those aftermarket prices are very expensive, but understandably so. Brutaka is basically the Holy Grail of Bionicle sets. The fact that this set used to go for around $19 back in 2006... Lego was ahead of the game when Bionicle was in production. We fans were blessed back then.
Been saving up some money for about a year. Finally can get him.
I was a lucky kid. I got Brutaka when he came out and he has seen alot of play throughout the years. And the most insane thing, the joints are still very thight
Vezon and Kardas hype. Can't wait for that review.
Brutaka is a national treasure. Probably the best color scheme in all of bionicle
Brutaka was the only one of the 26 Bionicle sets of 2006 I had which I didn't obtain within the year of its release. I received it for my tenth birthday in 2007, from a friend who found it in a book store, presumably as leftover stock. He prominently features the shade of "warm gold" which was introduced with Jaller Inika, and many of his pieces in that color such as the Toa Metru knee armor, Hordika feet, webbed Piraka feet, Piraka knee armor, and the Technic "boot" and corrugated tubes are exclusive to him and the combiner "set" from this year. His mask also appears in two minifugure-scale sets from this year. The Bohrok eyes in that color are also in a Knights' Kingdom II set (8822) from that year, and the "Chronicler Staffs" in that color will not appear again until '09. Apart from Irnakk, this is the first appearance of the Piraka legs in a Titan set, and the second of three standard appearances of them in Metru blue (Earth blue). This is also the case for the Rahkshi legs and Visorak feet in that color (Though the latter appeared in three minifigure-scale sets the year before) and is the first of two standard sets to have the Piraka torso in that color. Simultaneously, this marks the final standard appearance of the Toa Metru feet, Vahki hip piece and "axle socket" in Metru blue. As with Axonn last week, this set is the first Titan to have the Toa Metru eyepiece in transparent fluorescent reddish-orange, and is also the first appearance of the Visorak socket in black outside of its origin set.
Ah, Brutaka. Got it for christmas that year. I had no idea I was as fortunate as I am, considering his prices now.
one of my fave titan sets and a damn good looking too
Brutaka, King of Bionicles!
I had this set as a kid and while building it I spilled some red Gatorade on the carpet in my room. Instead of telling my dad and cleaning the super small spill up (probably the side of a bottle cap) I instead stopped building and poured the pieces of Brutaka to cover the spill. Brutakas mask and weapon are something I'll always remember even if I never fully built him
It was such a dopamine rush when I opened a storage box in my parents basement to see my fully intact Brutaka staring back at me.
"You're just as beautiful as the day I lost you."
I loved this set of the three titans of the ignition arc
my favourite brutal gold and blue being! Brutaka!
My absolute fav 💖💖
2006 titans are so gooooood! Can’t wait for vezon and fenrakk!!!
I was looking forward to you reaching this video! I had Brutaka as a kid and remembered him being exceptionally awesome. Curious to hear what you think of Nocturne, he was really good, too.
We are finally here
Great set
Brutaka was my favorite bionicle when i got it. I still have the Brutaka i got in 2006, unfortunately the peg snapped off the mask ages ago and I have no idea where it is. Its in a bit of a disastrous state, but plan on buying new parts to fully rebuild it.
I had this set as a child and it was by far my favorite out of all the toys I've ever owned, like it wasn't even funny, I learned how to sew because I wanted to design a cool cloak for it to wear. Right now it's probably in pieces down at my apartment's storage room alongside all my other old bionicle, maybe I could see if I can rebuild it if it's in an okay state.
One of the best Bionicle titans ever
Unfortunately, I only have a few of my Bionicle sets from childhood, but Thank the great beings Brutaka is one of them.
I just wanted to comment that I suffered the Bionicle dream again and it was a really bitter-sweet feeling...
Btw, great review as always!
The classic Bionicle dream, love it!
Favourite bionicle ❤
I must thank you. I've been keeping an eye on getting Brutaka and well. Now I want it.
There's another titan who match Brutaka's mightyness.
But we'll need to wait a while to see him... Looking forward for 2007...
Interesting! I am so excited to continue through these two years of the theme!
Maxilos?
Yes!
It's so sad that the bionicle brand died in 2017, those robots and models were super cool and I still have my very first toa! It is Pohatu, received as a gift of my mom in 2002.. I was 6, damn.. And talking about brutaka, I have all like him, axonn, vezon and fenrakk and kardas too!! When I received vezon and kardas I was almost dying from happiness, golden days guys
This was my favorite toy
Happy to see a set get more than 9 :) Still waiting for one to get at least 9.5 though! :D
I just spend $60 for a Brutaka. Can't wait for it come in!
One of my favorite titans is gonna appear next week
Will it though 🤷♂️
Wow that pricing O.o
Glad I managed to get 2 of him back in the day!
Glad i bought two Brutakas as a kid xD
I recently got two brutaka sets for rather cheap price. I already had three for kardas and botar models too. American prices for this model are crazy even if it is good parts pack, good toy and well designed overall.
Brutaka was my first titan set and is still my all time favorite Bionicle, just his name feels cool to say. My one dislike(sorry Brutaka) are the arms, maybe put something simple in the forearms, gold and/or black piece(s) perhaps, could work but I don't have anything in my small collection of spare parts to know what would or wouldn't work.
While he was gifted to me for my 2006 birthday or Christmas(can't remember which) I would totally pay $5 extra along with most other sets I did and didn't buy for myself later on.
I always switched the back daggers with the swords to give him wings
This thing looks like a fan made moc and I mean that in the best way possible
Yay brutaka!
He is soo coool
And hugeee
ok so we are done with brutaka now wait for the (in my opinion) best set in bionicle: Maxilos and Spinax
Great review as always
Can't wait!
I never seen this set build I only seen it on box he looks cool I wish I could of got him , he kinda looks like a gold predator from AvP
Next one I'm wait for are Maxilos and Spinax🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Brutaka: the Redeemed Warrior. I think he and Axonn were the ones that defeated Marendar
Brutaka is most likely my favourite Bionicle set (Alongside Maxilos, which will blow you away even more).
Man, I really can't say enough about this guy, he's just incredible. For some reason my notification didn't turn on for today's video, however, but still, this guy is really great in my opinion, and next to Axonn, he looks even better.
Same here! Such a great set design and a great compliment to Axonn
loved the review. Are you going to be reviewing Botar and/or Vezon and Kardas?
Yes! We'll get to the combinations down the line at the end of 2006
One of the best Titans - reminds me of Predator
Honestly, I don't understand why everyone likes Brutaka so much. In my opinion, this is an ordinary set. I think Maxilos and Roodaka are much more interesting titans and deserves more attention.
Maxilos is up there as well! I think the downside with him is that he comes with the less interesting Spinax, driving up the original price (and aftermarket price) and restricting his range of motion. But Maxilos is the most posable (humanoid) bionicle ever made. And he really looks robotic, fittingly.
I agree why would you think that Maxilos is a much better set (I agree too) but why Roodaka? She doesn't have any new weapons or masks and her color scheme is pretty bland.
@@treskyplesky1189 Well, first of all, she is the only female character that looks like a woman 😅 I like how they designed her heels, hairs, earrings, "body curves". She has an interesting custom head design (not just a mask). All this creates her unique look. Black and silver colors shows her evil, treacherous image. To be honest, I can't imagine her in other colors.
Her biggest disadvantage is her hands. The fingers and nails from the Hydraxon would be perfect for her.
But all this is just my opinion 🙂
(sorry for my broken english)
@@Edon_Korch True that her female design is pretty unique, I just never saw her figure irl so I can't say I like her. I just really dislike the color scheme, black and silver is just probably the most boring combination to me. I love her design in the movie though, she's much more blue and seems more feminine there and If her action figure looked like that she'd be my favourite titan as well.
I’d be reluctant to say that brutaka is the unique best because there’re still maxilos&spinax…that absolutely my favourite from g1
in 2014 I got brutaka for around 40$, currently now his pieces are messed up from using nail polish in 2016 to tighten the rubber joints but it just didn't work so I gotta get spare parts to fix him
same goes for vezon and fenrakk since fens silver joints cracked, I love both and think brutaka as a kid would've made me more gitty but vezon is a good titan too, now I wanna find axxon and make kardas so bad
As much as I love axon brutaka owns this year he has a perfect build and colors
I like Axonn a bit more but both are amazing sets and i do have both
@@richardch.4356 now that a couple years has passed I think I like axxon more just because of how big he is but, I still think as a set brutaka is still Superior
@@cringedefender5264 I see what you mean however I still like Axonn more and the hands and arms have more details in there builds especially the hands which not many titan sets have articulate hands nothing against Brutaka I just find Axonn to be superior at least for me.
I never had Brutaka. I bought a bundle of Axonn and Jaller and was fortunate enough to get Kardas set, so at one point I built the 3 subsets and Brutaka was great, Fenrakk too, Vezon was clearly better in Fenrakk set.
I have 5 copies of Brutaka, thanks to my brother and I getting 2 Kardas Dragons each in 2006 (They were £30 at Christmas, so it made sense to get 2 of it and get Kardas and all the Titans for cheaper than buying a Kardas and the 3 titans). I guess I should sell one maybe? It's wild to me that he's worth so much
I mean if you're not going to miss having it, go for it
LESSSSGOOOOOO
Hi, dude! I’m a huge fan of Bionicle (and Hero Factory). I watched your Bionicle videos, and they are very well put. I have all six 2006 sets! I love Brutaka! I agree with your positive things about him! :) Anyway, I believe that you are going to get Vezon & Fenrakk, so I must warn you about Vezon & Kardas. You see, Kardas has two Lego pins in his silver head. They are outward, so you could hardly fit the silver part on him. You could stretch the silver part that way, and that wouldn’t be good. I suggest that you turn the pins inward, so you wouldn’t have that problem. My friend called Gurmblebricks showed that in Instagram. Trust me. I know.
I remember the day they came out with black blades that matched his and I had an idea and made him black and good instead of blue and gold. A thing of beauty
