Hey man. I love the outdoors but I'm 38 and never learned to read a topo. I am not familiar with them yet, but I thought your video was informative and straight to the point. Idk if you are still making content, but your channel should definitely have more subs!

That is a really clear explanation and must see for understanding maps in the bush. Thanks so very much.

@@onthetrailnz Thanks, I’ll be teaching map and compass use to a class of 9 & 10 year olds, fifth grade, up here in the Rocky Mountains of Montana, USA. Your video will be a perfect introduction. We are surrounded by designated wilderness areas where you can only hike in and out of and very, very easy to get lost in.

Wow, that sounds amazing! I'm applying to American universities at the moment, so I hope to be over there next year.

@@onthetrailnz What will you be studying? I'm in Missoula, MT. University of Montana, home of the Griz!. I know a lot of people who came to the universty from all over and have never left. Grizzly bears, Black bears, Moose, Elk, Whitetail deer, Mule deer and Mountain Lions are minutes from town. Some of them live in town! Awesome trout fishing too.

I am hoping to study Electrical and Computer Engineering. Montana looks amazing! Definitely would be some good hiking around there. I would love to explore parts of the Continental Divide Trail one day! It's quite nice not having to worry about all the animals here in New Zealand though!
