I think if the Hawks win against the Dogs. The lid will be off. They will feel invincible. And that could be very dangerous. Aside from all that. I can not be any more proud of our young Hawks. What a ride this year has been. Bring on finals and 25. I have a good feeling.
I don't think the boys are lacking in belief. Watto obviously thinks he is already invincible, he starts fights with guys twice his size, Calsher has only played in two losses in his senior career, Ginnivan has already tasted a premiership, he will think it is cause and effect directly attributed to him (and he will be half right) and C'Mac and Weddle don't lack for self confidence. If anything, Mitchell will need to keep telling them it is one week at a time. The moment you think further is the moment reality comes to smack you in the head.
Such a good comment, the lid very loose right now but if we get over the dogs that lid will be gone and who knows what will happen. Also, great video Daz
Port fan here. Watched the hawks play us at Adelaide and just get pipped. While port didn’t play well, the hawks looked lethal and incredibly efficient. That loss was the catalyst to improve. And they have.
It's been a crazy roller-coaster ride for us Hawks fans Daz. It's been a pleasure getting your inputs on weekly basis along with the Talking Hawks guys too.
It’s been incredible. And I am so nervous but so pumped at the same time for the doggies game. Although I want to win so much. If we are to lose we have massively exceeded expectations. And if we can add Barrass or Battle or even both we are only just getting started. Loving all of your content Daz. Always entertaining and informative.
Will the winner of the Hawks Dogs final go on to win the flag? I can't recall a year where sixth and seventh were so good and in such great form when it counts.
I’m a Swans fan. We flogged Hawthorn earlier in the season, which seemed to be the catalyst for their turn around in form. They are currently playing breathtaking footy. The finals, however, are a completely different ball game. Sydney were clearly the best side of 2014 before being absolutely mugged by Hawthorn in the big dance, when it really counted … 😵
You know the thing I love about youtube? The fact that I can find professional level commentary and insights from a guy sitting in his bedroom. Yes. Definitely. Love it. Thanks for your thoughts. I totally agree that the Bulldogs and the Swans are gonna be the Hawks biggest roadblocks to a flag this year. Good stuff. Go hawks!
It's crazy to see first year players watson and dear contributing so much. and even players new players like chol, d'ambrosio and ginnivan playing so well not to mention a bunch of others
IF Hawks win the Flag, Ginni must be the first to play in two diff. Premiership team two years running. Much as I'd like to see it , I doubt we will. Hope i'm wrong.
As I said in a previous video, Daz, I thought the least favoured matchup for week one of the finals was a game against Footscray (where the heck is Western anyway). However, you were spot on about conditions being a factor. Plus, their tall timber won't be a factor if the ball doesn't get in there or at least gets in there under pressure. The key to the game is getting it out of the guts so I would be crossing my fingers for Will Day. Any way you look at it we will have 23 even players that are playing to a well-rehearsed system that generates stacks of opportunities. There is no way they can keep all our forward options quiet (Moorey was kept to 4 possies to three-quarter time on Saturday but broke free in the last quarter). None of the other sides really concern me as they all have flaws in their game including Sydney (they chip through the corridor inviting our pressure) so I agree that after week one it might be a better proposition as each week passes. What I love about Sam Mitchell's game plan is that we can win two ways; streaming through the middle with hands, or using our elite foot skills to slice through defensive set-ups when the pressure comes at us. the Greatest victOry is acHieved when teAmWorK is Sacred. Hey, i know it would be a format change but i think seeing hawthorn vlogs for the finals would be sick. It’s awesome to see the passion and i think that’s what the finals are about
I am a Hawks fan but i genuinely think Liam Jones should've been suspended. MRO continues to make decisions inconsistently like they have the entire year, and it will certainly make it harder for us to win. I live in QLD but i'm flying down to watch and support the boys. No matter the outcome I am super proud of what we've achieved this year and excited to see what we can do in the years to come with the list we have.
Doggies def make me most nervous, then Sydney (that order only due to recent form). That said Hawks have already exceed my expectations for the year and it has been an absolute joy of a year watching them, so whatever happens I am going to be happy.
@@Jack-r2v9b I can completely understand that point. I just have the swans on the pedestal from what they can be and what they showed at the start of the year. Also said it so people wouldn’t be on my ass lmao. I’ve been saying to family and friends that swans won’t win it lol. Serial choke artists

Daz, cool video. I was concerned when Saints defeated Blues that Battle may stay there. I would have rather we, the hawkers played a day game as we haven't played at night all year. Jones - Dogs got off with a fine, which if any other team, he would have got a week suspended. Haven't been to a hawks night final since 2018. However, I have faith in the boys, happy we get to play a final at the home of footy and our home ground, the MCG. The MCG game should help and our supporters will be larger than the dogs. As the only Melbourne final, I'm sure quite a few neutral fans will be at the MCG. How far we go, who knows, but happy to be where we belong, back on the big stage and playing finals. Go Hawks!
Great point about the ball movement from 2022 onwards. Sam's first 2 years there were so many moments where you could see the play unfolding and all it needed was a decent kick, handball or knock on and it would have been a easy shot on goal. But kept stuffing it up loopy handballs or handballs to feet, miskicks etc... All that has changed now and those chains a leading to goal after goal.
At the end of Round 18 after the win against the Dockers, the Hawks had the 15th best percentage. They ended up ranked 4th just six weeks later! The team has been on a hot patch of form for 3+ months overall, but the last 6 weeks were truly exceptional, even taking into account the quality of opposition (not to mention the loss to the Giants). Hitting the finals fit and firing - I wouldn’t rule anything out
Dogs match up really well against the Hawks. Get past them and convincingly, they'd have to be number 1 seed. As a Richmond supporter, I'm actually looking forward to seeing what damage they can do.
As your resident subscriber who follows North :( :(. Now not for a second did I think we would win, but a 124 Point loss hurts and was hard to watch, Hawthorne played brilliantly and deserved the win. North on the other hand, showed the lack of skill and heart, the issue weave have most of the season, Interestingly, the last 2 games we have not had Sheezel, for 2 big losses. Well done to your boys.
Same boat here. Clarkson actually nailed it when he said the team ran out of fizz. And it shows how important Sheezel is to North. I still think we took forward steps in the second half of the year. We should have beaten West Coast, which was perhaps more disappointing than the big losses vs Sydney and Hawthorn. Can we get Logue and Comben fit for a full season in 2025? I sure hope so. Get LDU signed and I think we can look forward to next season. Keep the faith.
Hawthorn winning the premiership from where they've come from the tough few years in its rebuild to the 0-5 start to their 2024 campaign could very well be the story of the year. But to win it, its not going to be easy, they have to win all 4 games in a row against some tough customer competition.
If they beat the Dogs I absolutely they can go all the way, but I actually think Geelong is their biggest test. For some reason the Cats match up well against the Hawks better than any other team, despite being pretty mediocre. Such an even year, no team looks a shoe-in for the GF let alone the premiership, so I think if another team from outside the top 4 wins it, this will be the year.
History shows the Cats win during the season and the Hawks win in Finals. I can happily live with that. Though I think the Swans at the SCG will be a bridge too far.
First of all you have to make finals. Then you have to play well. First one ticked off. Hawks have a good run with form/injuries is possible. Sicily and Day's shoulders don't help the cause. Getting a good spread of contributors is important. If a player has a bad day/beaten you can work around it. Centre clearances and accurate conversion so critical in finals. Can they do it yes. I don't like the prospect of playing the Swans on the short and narrow SCG. Hawks need the big real G with its space to allow the Hawks fast running game.
The TWO games the Hawks lost, in this incredible run. Up by 45+ mid point of the 3rd Qtr. Lose by last goal kicked in final 30 secs. Port Adelaide in Adelaide. GWS up by 28 points at 3 Qtr time. Lose again to the last goal kicked, in last 2 minutes. Win those two games, all else remains the same, Hawks are in 2nd position, and RED hot favourites for Grandfinal, with home games advantage. Was Sam Mitchell and elite athlete? fuck no. Yet he was an elite player due to his understanding of the game. The old saying "the mediocre players make the best coaches" I think more accurately mediocre athletes, make great coaches because they have to learn tactics and strategy.
Weddle played probably his best defensive game against the dogs, he played mainly on Ugle Hagan and rendered him completely ineffective. He might have kicked a goal.or two but I don't think he had more than 6-7 touches for the whole game while Weddle ran off him getting posessions all over the ground. If we limit their three talls + English to 7 goals or less between them, I think it will be hard for them to kick a winning score.
You guys will go to the prelim, and lose to Sydney in the prelim by a point by being up 20 points in the last quarter 🤣. But nah, jokes and chokes aside, I think that Hokball is going places, and I will be there cheering for 'em (except when Brisbane play them).
@@daztalksfooty they only have that percentage because of the first half of the season after that they fell off and if you have watched the last few Sydney games they are not accurate with their kicks and it is just bombing down the line and getting lucky.
Which is funny b/c some Bulldogs ppl are complaining the game is not at their home ground. The real reason it's at the G is they're expecting 90,00 crowd and Marvel holds only 50K.

Yeah absolutely
I like the Hawks.
River boys
Was Sam Mitchell and elite athlete? fuck no. Yet he was an elite player due to his understanding of the game. The old saying "the mediocre players make the best coaches" I think more accurately mediocre athletes, make great coaches because they have to learn tactics and strategy.
This is a f*****g great call
Daz is the GOAT
I ask you this how many times have bulldogs played at the MCG or even won in the last 3 years?
Six times in the last three years, think they're 4-2
Revenge for 2016 on dogs
Fingers crossed
Living in your head, rent-free 😊
Weddle played probably his best defensive game against the dogs, he played mainly on Ugle Hagan and rendered him completely ineffective.
He might have kicked a goal.or two but I don't think he had more than 6-7 touches for the whole game while Weddle ran off him getting posessions all over the ground.
If we limit their three talls + English to 7 goals or less between them, I think it will be hard for them to kick a winning score.
If we win flag ill give west coast 5 first rounders for barrass
😂😂😂
You guys will go to the prelim, and lose to Sydney in the prelim by a point by being up 20 points in the last quarter 🤣.
But nah, jokes and chokes aside, I think that Hokball is going places, and I will be there cheering for 'em (except when Brisbane play them).
I reckon you could be more right than you know
@@daztalksfooty Hahaha thanks Daz. This Hawks team gives me 2014 power vibes. What you reckon is your power rankings of teams that can win the flag?
Essendon are a better team.
Ummmmm....
Doesn't look like it at the moment?!
The Doggies will beat the Hawks by 8 goals+.
Maybe. Still will have been a hell of a journey
Up the HOK
FlagHoks confirmed
If we win the flag then im putting Chol above the chief
😂😂😂
Just get rid of the expletives, it degrades what is otherwise great content 👍
Don't go down to port in the final seconds and Hawks finish Second
Port, Collingwood and GWS games haunting us
@@daztalksfooty Do you really think we need Barass if we pick up Battle and/or Perryman?
I feel like we’re going to destroy the dogs same way we destroyed Carlton
Call me Crawf cause that's what I'm talking about
I have absolutely NO respect for the coach of the year award. Absolute garbage that Clarkson never won coach of the year!
It's genuinely bonkers hey?
🙄
Tipping the dogs
What are you on about Sydney is terrible no skill
They finished a game on top with an 11.9% advantage in front of second on the ladder. They weren't perfect but they're not unskilled
@@daztalksfooty they only have that percentage because of the first half of the season after that they fell off and if you have watched the last few Sydney games they are not accurate with their kicks and it is just bombing down the line and getting lucky.
No chance without Will Day and Schrimshaw. If Sicily goes down the hawks are screwed
Scrimma's pulled up okay
But you forgetting hawthorn play the G better then the bulldogs and beside hawks beat bulldogs this year at marvel stadium
Dogs' six games in three years could work against them but both squads are better than they were in that first meeting
Which is funny b/c some Bulldogs ppl are complaining the game is not at their home ground. The real reason it's at the G is they're expecting 90,00 crowd and Marvel holds only 50K.
