Thanks Daz..McCartney a few mths back suggested they are still looking for a key forward even after picking up Scaife and having a healthy Lewis. I would still like a talented mid..its hard to know at this stage how good mckenzie, ward or huss will be. We also tend to keep a list spot empty in case of early preseason injuries eg when blanck went down. Our recruitment team are doing a great job !! Go Hawks.
With picks in the 70's, getting FS (if any are eligible) project players, regardless of position, *could* be productive speculation drafts. Are Finn's brother & Silk's son eligible yet?
As a Hawks supporter I think it's exciting to see what we are going to do. I also think a tall fwd makes sense, but would just love to see us pull someone out of nowhere who takes the opportunity with both hands and runs with it.
I look at hawks list & another key fwd for life after Gunston & with Lewis being injury prone will help. Other than that, if anything, we only rlly would like another A+ midfielder. So that's either top 6 or a ready made mature player. Top 6 aint gonna happen so use 31 for the Tall fwd. That's it. Use our future picks for a star next trade period.
I'm not convinced we can grab an A Grade midfielder in this draft, I'm like you and use our future draft assets and throw everything at a mid. Looking at you Luke Davies-Uniacke
Ripper from you Daz. I wish Alix Tauru didn't have the last month he did, awesome for him but my goodness would he be a talent to have. Excited to see if we float our F1 around, definitely agree with Shanahan, can win games off his own boot and crashes the back extremely well, right into our brand of footy. Would love Cody Anderson down low as well, has been around our system and for the moment can be the insurance piece for Nash and or Worpes. Was unreal early in the year and was injured at the wrong time. Elite pressure and hunt as we all know.
Thanks Daz. I've been wrestling with this. You're dead right, we don't really have any glaring needs; therefore it's probably going to be best available talent. Could GROSS or OLIVER slide? Probably available at around our pick are DAVIS, JAQUES, O'FARRELL & CLARKE. MRAZ, DAY-WICKS and BARRET may also be considered. In Macca we trust. 🏉💛🏉💛🏉
Great stuff Daz. Anyone’s guess whether we try and take an earlier pick and offer up our first next season which would f course is tied to the blues. It’s more likely a pick between 20 and 25 to be a chance to get it, so a lot depends on what we see on the board then. Is there a Weddle who’s slid and we go for it? If not then put pick will be closer to 35. I like your thinking of a forward slash 2nd ruck, or just another tall forward but another position or type going forward is that elite kicker off a step. A golden boot. Architect off half back. A Young Coleman Houston Saad type. Doesn’t have to be a tough nut but can be that kicker who can cut sides up with a lot of ball. Whoever we pick or whatever we do, I’ll just have full faith in the recruitment team. We seem to be making some intelligent moves. Also with that half forward small forward type. You can never have too many. Butler? I’ve got my doubts and thought that before we drafted him, but One electric extra to go with Watson would be great. Someone who’s dangerous in the air too. Our small fellas aren’t great in the air. Moore probably the best of them. Is this draft as strong as these experts are saying ? I’ve got my doubts and think it’s no super draft or even close. Time will tell.
Nice spot to be in Hawks, no glaring positional needs. With Brarrass and Battle added it will be interesting to see the player shuffle. I'm sure Sam and Macka will pick wisely. How's Blanck going? Heard had re-occurring infections in reco knee. Just read a piece where Hawks are after more prime time games. Girls doing very well. Go you good things.
I think Tom barras defends 1.5 - 2 goals a game for the hawks. It’s hard to stat something like this in the AFL but we all know how much a good defender is worth.
If a tall forward is what you want, don't bother trading up - keep your 70s picks. Of the top 5 Coleman medal place-getters in the last 5 years, all were in the top 21, or in the 70s, (except Tom Hawkins, 41, but that was father-son). However in the 70s, we have a vein of gold - Nick Larkey, Taylor Walker, and Jake Waterman. And you can get two!!😂
Hi Daz, fellow Hawk here, love your content. Ok, I disagree with you re positional need. Its the mid. Now you're thinking ha? I get we have a young core mid but our depth is questionable IMO. Yes i get we did well this past season but if we cop a few injuries then we look soft. Worps is good and had a good season but I think his ceiling has been reached. Newcs and Day are gems. Nash is not polished but i get he does his def work. I just think we need more polish in the mid. I get HH is in the wings but I think more polish is needed there. Our bookends are sorted, I agree with u there. Happy to discuss or debate further.
I also think we should draft a teenage ruck and put him in the paddock to develop over a few years. Ramsden is in the wings though to be called up when Meek needs a spell. Don't talk to me about Reeves.
Hawks should chase a forward with either pick to grab to fill in until mitchell Lewis for instance tim membery or Matt taberner or who ever with goal sense or josh schache .
We with batts and barra are now in cup window and for next 10 years! And all players required from here on wards will be via trades next 5 years! We are past draft and kids we need quality established players and as i said it will be via trades and i can hint 2 players! Ugal hagen who was hugging and laughing with hawks players after we knocked them out of finals! Why would he only sign for 2 years that will put him at restricked free agent for us to take and the other is harley reid! There the 2 that will complete this team ! Hawks will have nothing to do with draft for at least 6 years! It will all be trades! 🤎💛💪🏆🏆🏆🏆next 10 years!!
I got to 7 minutes and realised you don't know much, so stopped watching. When you said use their furture 1st (Carlton's) you lost me, because that's against AFL rules as they have NO future 3rd. The first thing though that alerted me to your lack of knowledge was "you don't think we will go after a DFA." With 2 spots on the list, you are right...we won't! Next you probably don't know we have a NGA player and I assume we are still on for him, he's a midfielder. Have to wait and see if they nominate him, but he's a beast and was ranked top 20 before a syndesmosis injury put him out until the last round.
Alright, let's address these point by point The Hawks can get a future third in the trade if they move up and appease the AFL rules, just because one trade happens doesn't mean more can't happen. We could work around that. Second, I'd love to know how me being RIGHT can alert you to a lack of knowledge, given that being right about anything would show... knowledge. Alixzander Tauru and Christian Moreas aren't a part of Hawthorn's Academy and Cody Anderson hasn't been confirmed as being part of Hawthorn's first access priority... SO let's address that part. If he IS part of our first priority access... we wouldn't draft a midfielder, because he is one and the Hawks wouldn't need two. ✅ If he isn't, there's going to be more depth at the Pick 31 spot and as said previously, in my opinion, we'll target a forward/ruck ie Gerryn/Sims. Hope this helps and shows the knowledge you're after 👍

Nice work Daz. Dam I can't wait for next season already 😩
March 6th likely launch date!
It may be 'Rambling', but its rambling about Hawthorn, so you get a Thums-up.
Nice one Daz. I'm a fan of Sims, mainly for his athleticism, but genuinely intrigued with what we end up doing in the draft.

No major positional needs now. As much as I hate the cliche I think we just go for best available.
Don’t think hawthorn can trade a future 1st and future 2nd without bringing in at least a future 2nd
Spot on
@@daztalksfooty dosnt that not matter since you are trading for a pick in this yrs. Thought it only applied when you are trading for a player

Who would be hawks best pick up with there picks 33,71,77. And there future picks as well
Whitlock… both hawks supporters
Sure are
@@daztalksfooty just saying one of them might make it to the 30s and hawks like picking up hawks supporters if they fill the need

Ahh Yes Daz, North want trade UP to pick 6, your "Favorite" Pick, how ironic lol. I am sure you realize that Tauru is a hawk's supporter
It would be trading down technically but I see your point 😂 was unintentional but it'll slide to 7 because of Ashcroft so you're safe!
