Refrigerator Repair - Replacing And Programming the Electronic Control Board WPW10503278 W10503278

This is Whirlpool control board and it fits in Kenmore Maytag and Kitchen-Aid refrigerator models. One of the most common issues with this board failing to go to defrost the unit. When refrigerator has a defrost issue, there is a thick layer or snow on the back panel in the freezer section. Of course I tested bimetal and heater on the unit I was working on and they were tested ok before replacing this control, 3 parts are related to defrost issue:
1. Bimetal defrost thermostat
2. Defrost heater
3. Control board or Defrost timer
On this particular Kenmore model Bimetal and Defrost Heater tested ok so thats why I am replacing control board.

Agree on breaking those plastic tabs. I will warm it up with a hair dryer a bit before removing it .

I ordered a new control board but mine does not have the smaller board with it. I just have the larger board for replacement.
Do the 2 boards separate from one another?

You probably have the same board. If you pay attention, there is a line in the middle of the board. It’s actually two pieces together and you have to brake it but be careful not to damage the harness connecting them.

Yes. Those two board have a line in between and must be separated before installing
