  • Here is a video on attaching the Molle straps to an Alice Pack. I have gotten alot of requests about how to do this, so I hope this helps.
    You will need the Molle II straps, Waist belt and the Modular Sleep System Carrier (if you choose), the Alice pack and frame.
    I tried to to this video quick to keep the time down, however if you have any questions comment or send me a message.
    Thanks

    For a little extra support, leave the O.D. Standard Issue belt ON and THEN put the MOLLE II belt on top of it. There is AMPLE room on those large oval rings to accommodate them both! It should also keep your MOLLE II belt from being stressed, improving your comfort level by not strangling your guts so tight to hold the load to you. Just FYI. Putting mine together now, have a lot more gear for my pack on the way too, including a brand new MSS and Carrier! =]

    Thank you so much for this video. It really helped to make the Alice pack carryable for me. I will add that on the top straps I added two small caribiners to the allice hooks at the top, giving me a place to hook the top straps which you have tucked away. Just a little added security.

    You can find the all of the items on ebay and military surplus stores online. The pack will usually run you $25-50, the molle straps $10-20, pouch $10-20, sleep carrier $10-25.

    Hey thank you very much for the video. I just modified my AP with the Molle II straps and hipbelt. But I think there is a difference between Molle and Molle II (sorry I'm from Germany, so I'm not well informed in US Military-stuff). The Molle II shoulder straps have not such a middle strap to pull over the top of the frame, I had to wrap it over the middle of the frame. Have I done something wrong? Actually it works perfect, just wanted to know.

    Great video! Have you (or anyone else) tried this with a digital camo strap set? That's what I was able to obtain easily, but it took some experimentation and referencing to your video to attach it. The center attachment strap is different and that's where I had to figure out the best way to put it on the ALICE frame. It works well and it doesn't clash too bad with all of the olive drab like a desert camo assembly would!

    • @Skills2survive
      @Skills2survive  10 років тому

      I have not tried the digital camo. I am glad you like the video, thanks for watching.

    • @kevincollins6617

      How did you do the Army digital shoulder straps? I bought one pair of digital and one woodland. The latter went one easy just like the video but the digis are different...

    • @rnaviglia
      @rnaviglia 10 років тому

      Kevin:
      Basically you will attach the shoulder straps the same way as the woodland camo assembly where he shows the mini straps holding it to the upper frame. The shoulder strap back pad will end up in the center and you will attach the horizontal straps on the back of it between the ALICE frame center crossbar and the ALICE pack back pad. Bring the free end of the Y-strap down and around the triangular bar on the ALICE frame on the left side (you're facing the waist pad) and pull it through it's metal buckle. That's all there is to it!
      -Ron

  • @Auszie
    @Auszie 13 років тому

    Sucks there really isn't a way to double the woodland MOLLE II straps that come with the frames, with the MOLLE II back-padded straps... I might play around with mine to see if it can be done. That would be a HUGE improvement!
    BY THE WAY, THANK YOU FOR THIS TUTORIAL... WAS HAVING A HELL OF A TIME GETTING THE STRAPS ON LMFAO!

    I've always wondered how A.L.I.C.E. clips work, exactly. I've always assumed it lets you attach more gear to your ruck, like a MOLLE from the past. I was thinking about getting a large ALICE pack in MARPAT CAMMO with 3 large pouches on the front of the 40 liter (approx) main pack with 3 more smaller pouches on the front under the flap because Coleman's milsurp catalog has them for a good price right now. I'm not familiar with the ALICE pack, but figured it would be worth getting a large ALICE pack since the world speaks very highly of them. Can I attach MOLLE pouches to it with ALICE clips, or even those M.A.L.I.C.E. clips which I assume work both with ALICE and MOLLE? If not, how could I use my MOLLE pouches on them without turning pouches to the side ( so my gear spills ) and attach MOLLE pouches to places more than just the front straps ( if I have to, I'll use gear snake, gear cobra, para cord, titan cord, nylon rope, slick sticks, or whatever, but what would you do?)
    Were you in NAM, and, if so, how could I use the ALICE system to it's fullest and what kinds of additional pouches and gear do they make for them? I can't seem to find ALICE pouches on any milsurp site and catalog and I assume U.S. soldiers and Marines had them. I realize this is a lot of questions to bombard you with, but in 45 years I'm still trying to figure how to use the ALICE system and it's attachments. Thanks if you answer.

    • @Skills2survive
      @Skills2survive  4 роки тому

      Alice clips are just that.. clips. They are similar to a large locking paper clip. They allow you to attach pouches to your gear. Obviously Molle has now replaced Alice. You can attach Molle to Alice, it just won't be as secure as Molle. Molle is the way to go now. Much easier to use, attaches better, more secure. And no, I wasn't in Nam..lol... I way to young for that... lol 😂. I hope this helps...😁

      @@Skills2survive Thanks, bro. I wasn't expecting an answer so soon, guess we were online at the same time. Would you recommend the large ALICE to add to a prepper collection for his rucks. I hear of so many vetersns saying they always gravitate towards their ALICE packs, and lots of countries use them. Major Surplus and Survival even has a water/weather proof version and Coleman's mil surp catalog has what seems really nice in MARPAT camo. seems like a good ruck for patrolling my perimeter ( I live way up in the rural Great Smokies on the NC side of the NC/TN state lines) surrounded by woods in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by woods and mountains and zoned for livestock, so I shoot my guns and run my guns and gear regularly with no cops or neighbors for miles). In your opinion , is the large ALICE worth it for $60 for the MARPAT large ALICE? And where do I get the pouches designed for ALICE? Thanks, brother

    • @Skills2survive
      @Skills2survive  4 роки тому

      $60 for a large Alice isn't bad. But you need the frame. The medium can be used without a frame although I don't recommend it. The large cannot. So make sure it comes with a frame. Then you need to upgrade the straps to the Molle II straps, this makes it more comfortable. But the old Alice is tried and true and a go to for many people. Ive used my Alice on many trips over the years. You can find the Alice pouches on eBay usually as well as the pack components.

      Skills2Survive Well, got the load lifters and everything's assembled. It does feel a whole lot better than the standard ALICE shoulder straps. Someone suggested that I get the shelf for the frame so that the main pack isn't sagging down. That wont leave any room for the MSS carrier though so I'm not going to add it.

    • @Skills2survive
      @Skills2survive  8 років тому

      Yea.. I thought about adding the shelf, it makes the pack more versatile.. But, like you said, there is no room for the MSS carrier.

    • @phillyphilhouse79
      @phillyphilhouse79 8 років тому

      Skills2Survive It's funny because when I was issued the ALICE in my infantry days, I hated it. Up until the molle rucksack came out. Than I was like oh ALICE, how I miss you. LoL. One good thing about the molle rucks was that they were pretty water resistant if not completely waterproof. With the ALICE you definitely have to add the wet weather bag. But it's good for what I need and I'm happy with the Hellcat mod. Best idea ever. I was thinking of sending the main pack in to Tactical Tailor to get molle panels on the lower sides attached. For now I'll leave it as is.
