Simple paracord handle on my PVC Alice Pack frame. I use the Cobra stitch, also referred to as a Solomon Bar or Portuguese Sinnet. / spiffyguyadventures
I've probably made 10 miles of Cobra stitch in my life, but when I wanted to do it just now all I drew was a blank...amazing what you forget 50 years later. As soon as I saw your first loop I was good to go. Thanks.
Exactly what I was looking for to repair a luggage handle or backpack strap while traveling. I also purchased 1 1/2" key ring loops for the ends. Cheap and easy repair while on the go. Nice demo. clip.
Nice clear explanation, and good camera angle. Just as you described and had it done in about 10mins. One of the best weave demos and instructions I've seen. Good job and thanks for taking the time.
Awesome tutorial! I just was gifted an ALICE pack & frame and wanted to add a grab handle to it. This is quick, perfect and looks very professional! Thanks!
Make that 8. Thank you for showing that weave so well. I just did it and it worked great. I did mine longer (13") so I could add a plastic pipe cut to fit around the handle so the cord doesn't dig into my hand like all my tool bags.
This is awesome. Very for useful for repairing your old backpack but also just to have some extra paracord on you, as 3 metres can actually save life in emergency situations. Good job. Thanks for this
Yes, thank you for a good video. I almost have my handle finished on my AP. My hands are tired though lol. Took me way longer than a few mins haha, but worth it.
Excellent !!! braided a couple of these handles on some of my MOLLE panel inserts that organize my backpack for wick ebay in arms out - worked like a charm !! Thank you !!!
This is exactly what I was looking for but in my case I have a frameless pack with no grab handle how would I attach this to it? Also no d rings on it either.
Nice idea! I made my own paracord handle for my ALICE medium pack and it looks strong and great, of course! I should mention that I tied the handle apart and put a ring of key holder on each side so I can remove the handle. PD: Nice paracord :D
You could do a similar one to this weave, just put in a loop at either side. I would use the biner in place of the frame but put a knot around them before starting the weaving part. That way they don't slide around too much.
There is a cut at 1:58 when 'just wrapping it at another end of the handle'.......and after the cut the cords are totally reversed i.e. inside the loop. I love when this happens.
Now remove the straps and espread the handle to the right and to the left after that put the straps back on and you have a wider handle, very condortable and with a a better look.
There is a cut at 1:58 when 'just wrapping it at another end of the handle' becomes something else entirely. I'm stuck here and have no idea how to proceed. Whenever I try it all falls apart.
7 years later and you're still helping people. Amazing. Thank you so much

Glad it was helpful. I tend to refer back to it when making stitches.

Sincerely, Thank You Friend. This video added to the good. Bless you and yours, always.
Thank you for the tutorial! My husband loves the paracord handle I made for his Alice pack.
Nice quick but super clear tutorial! Saving this for when my pack comes in the mail.
Thanks. Glad it was helpful.
7 years later and still useful.
Great video man! Really appreciate you doing this! I used this to create a handle for an EDC bag that didn't have one.
thank you for this. my first paracord wrap for a wooden box handle 🤙🏽😊
There's no way after doing all that work that im taking it apart😮. 😊Nice work, easily understood. ❤
I was cussing my new Alice bag over this very issue last night and you provided the blueprint for me. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful.
Very helpful! Used it for my guzzler water can! It works great! Thank you!

ended up working perfect for replacing the broken off handle on my guitar case!
Going to do this to my Camelbak motherloade lite 👍🏻 perfectly shown and explained, many thanks 👍🏻
I did it! Thanks! My brother gave me his ALICE pack from when he was in the Marines!
Thanks! Worked out perfectly as a handle for my LK35.
great job.. been thinking how I could come up with a paracord handle and I think you have done it for me.. again great job my friend.
+Timothy Bobbitt Glad it was helpful.
Can you teach us how to do a clove hitch?!? Or are we just soposed to know that?
First time perfect .... yeah wright :) ... your video helped allot. Thank you for the immense help!!!
Thank you very much for this video :) my Alice backpack is now more practically :)
Cheers dude, explained well and easy to follow
Thanks. Glad it was helpful.

if it is frameless I would suspect you need to attach it to the pack. I would probably sew in some loops to attach.
wow this isn't hard at all once you get into it. thanks a bunch for this. new skill learned.
Just made mine, thanks for the video.
Very good instructions thanks man
Great video! Added a handle to my Alice!
Thanks, glad it helped out.
Thanks for the great video and instruction. Continued success. Love PegEgg
Thanks man. This worked great and totally made a huge difference on my ALICE pack
Thanks! Great video. Knocked it out 1st try.
Like a charm.

That is a good idea. Thanks.
is there a way to make a lose hanging handle, where on either side a small carabiner is. for example to carry rollerblades?
You could do a similar one to this weave, just put in a loop at either side. I would use the biner in place of the frame but put a knot around them before starting the weaving part. That way they don't slide around too much.
@@SpiffyguyAdventures thanks i've thought about a sollution
great video.. exactly what i was looking for..
***** I am finished already, looks great, very functional, thanks for the education..
There is a cut at 1:58 when 'just wrapping it at another end of the handle'.......and after the cut the cords are totally reversed i.e. inside the loop. I love when this happens.
Yeah I'm stuck here and have no idea how to proceed. Whenever I try it all falls apart.
I may just be stupid but the iump cut at 2:00 is confusing me because the line is now reversed
I just realized you moved them back
Great video, thanks for posting.
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching.
Thanks !
Glad i found your video. I did it to my A.l.ic.e. too. Thanks

if you tie the cord loose...........the handle is soooo much softer, easier on the hand
Great video
What do you do with the free ends? Awfully long. Trim and burn?
Rich Houle you can do a few things. feed them back through then trim and burn. you can also start a new row and go over what you have.
Thanks! I'll give it a shot.
Scott Hayden update: I actually did it! Thanks for teaching a new skill!
Glad it worked out of you. New skills are always good. Thanks for watching.
Very good video, thanks , well explained I could do it just like it's on the video
Thanks, glad it was helpful.
And if you want to make ita bigger wider handle, just keep going with the weave, turn around, and go back to the start point.
King Cobra 👍
Thank you.
You need to explain the initial process with a little more detail. Took me forever to understand what you were talking about
I have the same paracord from action
how long is that paracord you use?
Started with 10 feet. Trimmed off the ends once I got the length I wanted.
@@SpiffyguyAdventures great, so a regular boot laces can be usefuld
GOT IT!!
worked great thx!
There is a cut at 1:58 when 'just wrapping it at another end of the handle' becomes something else entirely. I'm stuck here and have no idea how to proceed. Whenever I try it all falls apart.
Fucking same. Idk how everyone else understands it
👍 👍
good deal, thanks man.
Glad it was helpful.
👍
if you don't tighten the knots so tight, they make a much SOFTER handle
Thanks for the info. I prefer the tighter handle myself knowing that it will soften up a bit with use.
Just one question: how much paracord did you use to that handle?
Video starts at 2:04
I did this and then i realized i could just add a 1956 sleep carrier to add a handle.
