    Cool, a great two hours in New Orleans. I was there in 1977, actually my honeymoon, I was so young 23. So, I reminisced a bit this morning, having some fake Beignets, powdered donuts with my coffee. Remembered getting a hurricane, a large drink at a bar there and could walk down the street with the drink legally, listening to bands at each bar. We also went to Audubon zoo, graveyard, and took the street car. I'm not married anymore, but those were the days. someday, maybe I'll go back. But today thanks to Robert, I got to go enjoy the place again. Great time! Thanks Robert!

      I've only been to New Mexico once or twice. Mostly know Monterey bay area, San Francisco bay area, the Sierras, Northern California, Oregon and Washington. I've driven to Santa Fe, on my way back and forth during the years. I'm 65 now so, I'm in Upstate New York, because my brother lives here. I haven't done much here, but local stuff and NYC a few times too. I like discovery for sure. There's awesome folks and stuff to see almost everywhere. That's why I love Traveling Robert and Free in my RV so very much. He can show me stuff I've never seen before. Tell me about New Mexico, what do you love there? I'm always interested. Thanks and Best

      @@eliciaburton4862 Actually I'm not even american, I'm originally from Germany and recently relocated back to my hometown. But I was always fascinated by the United States and its incredibly diverse nature, so I've been there many times and lived in Albuquerque for about 2 years in the 90's! I love traveling and I miss the US, so I'm really enjoying Roberts videos. What I love about New Mexico? I would say the weather, the beautiful blue sky, the desert (yes, I like desert .-D), the people and the cities. Especially with the spanish influence and the great architecture!

    Thanks for this video, Robert. Being from New Orleans originally, this brings back more memories than I can list here. My great--grandmother used to have a house on the Tchefuncte River, close to where that park is now located. If you're looking to go back to New Orleans on an "off" time...April and October are great months to go. There's always lot of festivals throughout the year and the weather tends to be excellent then.

    LOL! I was just jamming out to the vid before this one and I was doing the guitar part howling along to your traveling music singing it like nannna nannna nanna da da da nanna! Lol i heard heavy footsteps thumping down the hall and my husband ( who had the news on too loud ) came into the room yelling "what's wrong? Why are you crying?" What was that noise?" My singing could be characterized as caterwauling. I even got asked to leave karaoke once. LOL now I'm laughing so hard I can hardly write this! LOL I said "sorry honey I was singing along to my RV guy." He says "what RV guy? lol I've told him about your vids 900 times. LOL what a goof! Okay well i hope someone got a laff!

That town is so famous and historical. And the food. To me it is some of the best food I've ever found in one town. You have to explore all over. Please people stay at least two nights and two days. My Wife and I go to New Orleans frequently (we live in Mobile, it's a short trip). My best advice to anyone visiting is to immediately go to the police station and buy a NOPD cap. They are 15 bucks and are the same ones the cops wear. Nobody will mess with you, people get out of your way, and everyone around you is on their best behavior.

    Robert, you dunked your beignet in your café au lait. That's a very local thing to do. That makes you an honorary citizen of New Orleans. FYI, the red brick buildings on either side of Jackson Square are the Pontalba Apartments. They are the oldest continuously occupied apartments in the country. And when you were standing in Jackson Square, the Mississippi River on the other side of the levee was about 10 feet over you head. For those visiting New Orleans, I suggest getting a half muffuletta at Central Grocery on Decatur St. (near Jackson Square) or a shrimp po-boy and walking over the levee and eat your sandwich while watching the ships and tows work their way up and down the Mighty Mississippi.

    • @TravelingRobert
      @TravelingRobert  5 років тому +1

      Ha, that's cool, by the way I've had that muffuleta sandwich before. It was amazing. I was almost undecided between a bignet and that, but figured the bignet would be more appropriate for breakfast.
