    I've been looking for ages for an easy to use step by step guide, and came across this video. He's a top bloke that Craig too, when he won big brother he gave all of his winnings to a charity close to his heart. Selfless man. top bloke.

    I like the fact you can see the Stanley Fatmax Drill at 5:11 its almost like the Silverline drill didn't have enough power.

    Air brick 🧱 covered up and I would use a washer in front of the timber against the wall as a packer help rain run past the back of the wood
    All so nothing said about a small run off on the level for the rain water / water to run off ,,
    And get a impact driver 👍

    When you used Kreg deck builder product, do you also have to use Kreg screw as well?

      grooved both sides?... bottom side to stop trapping moisture, top side for water run off.

    There is meant to be a 1cm gap between the ledger and the brick to stop water pooling there.

    I have a job at home similar to this. So you just make some type of "legs" they sit on top of the cement footers? Also, what about laying the decking on concrete slab? I have a slab approx. 20' x 15'.

    The last board you laid was about 2 inch from the wall but how did you fill the gap as the board was against the wall when the job was finished

    You say 'needs to be at least 150mm above and damp coarsing'...but it looks like the decking board is going to sit right in front of that air brick, not sure if that constitutes damp coarsing but its going to cause a problem with damp potentially no?

      Which could potentiantially result in rot issues of the sub floor. I always thought you need to try maintain a 150mm height to the DPC to minimise the chance of rising damp?

      He cold have taken the timber up a bit higher also u should never block air brick tradesman

      @@SubZero-ew8xp correct, although several senior project managers on sites have told us to put decking on the same course of bricks as the air brick before 🤔 Clerk of works never pulled it either. But I always thought its got to be above air bricks, for various reasons.

    Would it be advisable to put some kind of black weed proof sheeting below the decking frame to stop any plants and weeds growing up?

    What if you don't have a wall as backing? (If the entire deck is over ground) would you need to sink a straight frame into concrete on one/two sides or what would be the best way to go about it? Thanks

      If its only a single level like in the video then no just support the frame on feet down to the concrete pad. As long as it is level and stable you will have no problems.

    Thank you for your video very helpful as i had some decking done by locals called A & E emergency landscape and watching these deck vids is making me cry as they didn't do anything like that I'm horrified 😔

    would it help to lay a weed matt or some kind of moisture barrier underneath to preserve wood longer ? or does the gravel underneath act as drainage ? nice tips tho...

      You could use it, and the gravel does act well for drainage

    Any tips on getting the whole platform level. It is reasonable to follow the brick course line on the walls but what about the rest of the platform?

      use the bloody transparent hose. it never lies.

    You should look at tuffblocks, no need for screwing to walls or even digging holes. Plug and play!

      Just buy thunderbolts from your local merchant at least 100mm long for 4x2 and use a 10mm masonry bit then they wind straight in no plug needed.

    Hi Craig, I’m about to build decking with composite and I’m using your video to help make the wooden subframe.
    When it comes to the timber, is it important to use green treated? The timber merchant delivered yellow treated c16 which seemed too soft for outdoor use. He assured me it would be okay but I wanted your professional advice.

      @@redasnekrosius7821 yeah, worked out fine. Used C16 timber. It was easy to work with but made sure and gave all the ends and the wood itself a couple coats of preservative. Did it all with a handsaw. Actually the composite boards cut very well with a handsaw. Felt I had more control

    and make sure you wont cover facade ventilation ports like that guy on the video, as that can cause huge problems in a long run
