I injected the buttons with 99.9% isopropyl absolute alcohol. I waited about 20 minutes, turned on the mouse and the left mouse button worked normally. And before that, I also had the middle mouse click button completely not working. Now it also works 95 percent. I read a comment here that WD-40 can be harmful and that it is better to bury it with a special product for cleaning contacts. I just bought wd-40 to fix the mouse and didn't want to buy a contact cleaner yet. I did have isopropyl alcohol, though. So I used it and am satisfied with the result.
There was another problem: the scrolling in an old A4 Tech mouse and the scrolling in a fake Logi m220 mouse was not working properly. I lubricated the rotation mechanism with WD-40 and the scrolling worked fine. Not as good as a new one, but 10 times better. About 90-95% of perfect. This is already a good result.
In general, thanks a lot for the video and for the idea, because I already wanted to buy a new mouse, like most of the other commenters under this video))))

It worked. Now the M220 left click is not silent any more, but it's functioning 99.9% of the time instead of like 60% before. A small container of WD40 is like 3-4 euros, while new mouse is like 15-20 euros. So it's a pure win!

Nice overview of the disassembly - it's a "remove the fear" before you dive in. Rather than WD40, I used a custom switch contact cleaner (probably just iso-propyl alcohol from the smell) and followed up with a compressed air blast to shift the solvent and dirt. YMMV.

God bless, isopropyl alcohol and some heavy blows did it for me.

Does it still work? Experienced any problem since?
Did this change the feel of the mouse clicks?

Your video helped me solve my left click issue with my M221. I had tried replacing the battery thinking it was some issue with low charge. A drop of WD40 at the click switch did the trick. Saved me time and money. Thanks! Subscribed to Tech & Lifestyle.

While trying to open it myself, I pulled the top cover and it couldn't open. In the product I used, they hid the screw by taping it. Thanks to you I was able to realize the screw.

Electrical contact cleaner might be a better choice but but WD 40 definitely works.
For once, a quick and easy repair. Thank you for sharing this.

Used this to fix and clean my M220. Wasnt getting good right mouse inputs because the plastic back was slightly uneven so you had to push harder to get the same inputs on the right side. Took it apart (and cleaned it) then used a little bit of heat to set the back in a good position. Had no idea about that screw back there so this video saved me about 15 bucks on a new mouse!

    great video!!

      @Lesrevesdhiver 28 днів тому +2

Yes, when doing something like this, work the switch several times before the reassembly to give the lubricant a chance to work it's way in and do it's job. It is normal.

Thanks for this video. I've disassembled my M220 silent click mouse, after my left click was working only after a hard press, and I discovered that the left click button (the one from the electronic board) was a bit wobbly.
Is this normal or this seems to be the problem for my fault?
Didn't put any lubricant yet, only blow some air.

  • @kur0sh1

Instead of wd40 use any electronic contact cleaner or even isoproply alcohol. Wd40 can dissolve plastic so it could damage ur device in the long run.
