A recent video from a user named @andough9753 has come up and pretty much caused a lot of early game controversy. It should go without saying that this video is misleading, and should not be followed. For your own sake, I decided to pick on parts of the video that are key, as well as his contradicting and misleading comments.

I forgot about flame stats! Empress is in a lower tier then Absolab, because it goes 140-159, then 160-179, 180-199, 200-249, then 250.

Not to mention that you can do every boss in endgame with absos if you dont want to risk starforcing arcanes. ifallendawn did a bm solo in 46 mins with full 22* w/ absos.
I've seen a heap of KMS videos of people going into BM with 40k stat, or around there, and the only Arcane item most of them have are weapons. They all still very much pull their weight in parties as well. Abso has such a wide scaleability in the game that as long as you knowledgeable about bosses, they're well equiped with stats to get you where you need to go. Empress doesn't have this possibility.
hey that's me! but yeah, you can pretty much finish the game in absos if you wanted to, don't even need to go arcanes besides weapon. really up to you but the "skip absolab gear" video is trash.
slightly related, ive been wondering about this for a few days now:
with basically free lv150 fodders being given out at Magnus/RA shop, should I still chase 17* arcanes or just settle for 20* 21* abso? arcanes feel like a really hard chase(have stable hluwill party for 2 chars per week and 1 box drop in total since September) and idk if arcane is worth it compared to abso with infinitely boomable free fodders.
21* abso will carry you to Black Mage. Arcane is the end game goal, however abso can still do everything for you.
Arcane is expensive because of its significantly higher stats and set effects. If you run 21* abso, you don't replace with arcane until they're 19* themselves, meaning still a long period of time you have the abso for if you go high with the starforce on it.
lmao, thanks for the laugh. as someone who labored every detail in equip progression when 25 stars came out, i can't believe someone would willingly argue for empress > abso.
People are gatekeeping Lucid because they're bad at the game lol. If Koreans can do BM at 40k stat, so can we. But nobody does, cause we suck. Familiar hand holding dulls our mechanics. Hell, I did Nlucid at 17k stat back in the day at 0 FPS before all this powercreep.

So true. People say 25K for nlucid all the time I never see anything under and that’s a 6 man party. I ask for 18K and it’s legit cleared in 5 mins lol ppl are ridiculous. Maybe not 5 mins idk it was fast tho. My first run I only watched a video on phase 1 and I was fine lol

Coming from Scania with a 251 Cadena with the ability to get abso gear for mules, i can tell it is dam important for progression in reboot. I am miles away from being able to get solo and getting in reboot is hard af but yeah abso gear is a must
Cadena mains get my respect. Ya'll are a different breed. I played casually after the release of Destiny, and using the events to progress, you're soloing Lomien at around 4-5 weeks in, at around 12-14k stat. Classes that aren't mages can do it in less. Knowing about limitations is much better then spreading misinformation.

Minor correction to your hellux math though, hellux drops 5 stacks of coins each containing 5-6 coins so its a max of 30 coins. This only strengthens your argument in my mind due to his reliance on the superior set.
Hmm. Wiki states 25-35 coins, and I personally never really paid attention to the coins since they re-worked Gollux over a year ago. I know PREVIOUSLY it was capped at 35, but I guess it was changed for the rework.

It's good, set effect is actually better than 3 CRA + 5 Abso. But you do lose Flame value and 1 item of potentials by having an Overall instead of Top/Bottom.
Because of that I wouldn't recommend it on a main. But for a bossing mule where you're probably not going to be optimizing flames its totally legitimate.
I've have a 17* JP set on my 229 Bowmaster mule and I can clear Hellux (~4 min) and Lomien (~12m) solo. I'm tempted to see how far I can push it in solo progression just as an experiment.
Edit: To add to this, you can also transfer hammer from JP to Abso. So outside of the Overall, Belt, and Akechi Weapon (you can just leave these at a lower starforce), you can transfer it to Abso once you want to make the transition. Its much easier to get spares for the JP set too. So you could theoretically just get everything to 21 and transfer and get 20* Abso. Realistically though, just get it to 16* and transfer to Abso once you get the whole set.
It's good, yes. The issue is someone pointed out that JP set is not flame advantaged, so there's lost stat there. You also need to run the full JP set compared to 3 CRA, 5 Abso. This means you'll lose the extra stat you're getting from CRA bottom, and the overall amount is lost. You might also have to swap some items if you're still running Boss set, as you need to run Shoulder for the JP set.
Way better the empress, but still falls short of CRA+Abso.

Piero on the money. Root Abyss shop now sell level 150 boots and shoulder. You can pick up the gloves from the magnus shop found in Downtown Black Market. if gloves are hard to come by, then you can always try your luck with getting Jap gloves from Ranmaru.

Run a full CRA set until you have Abso weapon and a few armour pieces. When you can afford to starforce to 15*, enhance it, roll some potentials, and start rocking the abso set.
Some people budget swap at 12*, since abso is infinitely better then pensalir, but do what you think is right for your pace of progression, whether it be 12 or 15*
Also, you run CRA hat, top and bottom permanently, so keep that in mind that you'll be running those pieces, with 5 abso item set

@Jeneric Joe just get Sw first to be able to kill CRA if your not getting carried. It has an extremely high drop rate, high attack and 30% boss damage. It outclassed pensalir

No. The full set and the overall don't offer as much stat as CRA 3 set. You run CRA 3 set until you get the new level 250 gear. You still run just 5 pieces of Arcane.
Because of starforcing, you get significantly more stat out of top and bottom, then you do with overall.
hell yeah, call em out buddy, even i who have constant weekly carries for HLucid don't dare to go straight to Umbra set, just the meso you could be making while farming Umbra is so valuable specially at that point in the game...
What is your take on the somewhat similar opinion I saw once where a guy advocated to another guy to not spend any droplets to buy arcanes, but instead gear for HLuwill with absolabs and go for arcanes directly that way?
Thats the most effective way to do arcane progression. Because it takes 6 weeks to purchase 1 armour item, it would be faster to run the party's and obtain gear that way.
Then, when you're 17*, you can use the droplets saved to purchase clean arcane items so that you can starforce with much less risk.
You can still get gear by purchasing it, but doing it as above would be the biggest time saver simply based on efficiency. If it takes 6 months to get an arcane set with droplets, then it takes another 6 months to even attempt going to 20* once.
Honestly that dude was hillarious. Man completely forgot that set effects exists. My favorite part was when he talked about the cape and was like "Oh it completely blows it out of the water!" , bro ur missing 90 atk from the set effect alone, shut up. Absos are great, shit can hold you till BM if you hate arcane for whatever reason
KMS players have shown the full extent of Abso progression. There's a few videos showing 40k stat players still running 4 set Abso gear with Arcane weapon, running in BM parties and pulling their weight. There's more people skipping Arcane progression until they down BM then there are skipping Abso KEKW.

Am quite new to the game, I’ve been quite lazy on abso quest. Do I have to kill lotus or Damian in order to get the drops so I can exchange to coins?
yes you need to kill lotus or damian plus doing the weekly quest to exchange coins.
if you want to compete the set the fastest way other than getting the boxes you need to do both of them, lotus used for gloves cape boots and damien used for wep and shoulder
Lotus and Damien drop Cores. Black Haven and Dark World Tree weekly quests claim 20 tokens each. It takes 1 core and 20 tokens to make 1 coin. You then need 2 coins per item, and 5 coins for weapon.
Lotus is used to make AbsoLab coins, and you need a total of 6 coins.
Damien is used to make Stigma coins, and you need a total of 7 coins.
You buy your Shoulder and Weapon with Stigma coins.
You buy your Cape, Gloves and Boots with AbsoLab coins.

I don’t agree with his no abso or the using empress gear take, but let me offer up a different devil, ranmaru gear, comparable set effect to abso and can be obtained earlier
Still a tier below AbsoLab. Flame tiers are 140-159, then 160-179. Enhancement tiers also mirror this. Set effect only offers 25 atk, and 35 stat. Base stats for the items are also lower the AbsoLab. Jap set was a good alternative before we transitioned into 10bil cap, as 1bil it was either Jap or Abso. Still missing a chunk of stat from items and set.

@@allwillfreeze are you using the old set effect? Current full 8+1 piece set effect offers 85 stat, 155 atk, 30 boss damage, 27.1 IED, and 5% Crit damage. Its hardly insignificant.
Abso is still better for sure, but its a lot closer imo than people give it credit. Its definitely worth dropping once you get gollux though because you’re missing the 4-set due to the belt.
@@allwillfreeze Oh, I see. You’re comparing it to the 5 set. Yeah, people don’t run the JP set as a 5 set. (Also you’d technically you’d use 7 set because weapon counts as 2 and there’s a belt as a set piece.) They usually run the whole 9 set because the later set bonuses are actually where most of the set’s power comes from. The last 3 pieces alone are 110 atk, 30 all stat, 5% crit damage, 19 IED, and 30 Boss.
You need to compare the JP set to both CRA and Abso combined to get the whole picture.
Abso still wins ofc, but its slightly more complicated.
while i agree with the general statement of absolab, you can get gollux stuff by doing hardlux without carries and also do hellux at like 14k stat, at least my khali can and i only have 3k legion.

Imagine skip Absolab as a low funding player. Even here in reg Absolab is more than enough to carry u thru liberation quest. The clown vibe was strong in that guys video. I straight up just didnt watch his video when youtube suggest it to me cause the dumb title

@@nirorit it was a joke played on the video I was responding to. The route is typically 140 items, transfer to 150, transfer to abso (160). Hold on to Pensalir if you don't want to enhance level 150 gear, and just transfer when you have the respective abso item.

in eu nlucid partys are 20k
most people with decent arcane force, wse, sf are soloing around 25kish. Sure you can duo and kill at sub 15 but 6 people 25k stat is literally asking for a 4 min kill
Yeah, I realised that I got it completely wrong. A struggle party is 16-18k stat, a safe clear is 22k, and a fast clear is 25k.
before absolabs, there were fafnir and tyrants, ppl skipped absolabs to arcane cuz they have 10 stars above legend tyrants which making skipping also to arcane viable
People haven't needed to skip AbsoLab since it was introduced as end-game in v152(?). Arcanes came in v179. We're over 6 years into 5th job now and there is zero reason to skip it anymore. You still run Helm/Top/Bottom CRA, but weapon is switched out. Tyrants and way too expensive to even enhance, stating at 50mil for 0-1 star.
Following the older progression is incredibly outdated now.

I whispered the guy a few days ago and he is still adamant about the whole "no need to go absolab" thing. His new argument is that getting abso gear makes the game too easy and how people's mechanic in boss finder is ass and should struggle with empress gear until arcane to learn mech. The guy is delusional. I think he is just salty that people can clear the game with 22 absos and doesn't want people to surpass him with his shitty 12 star arcanes.
If that's true then that's sad... the game is about community and if he's going about his time through boss finder then he's skipping a core part of end game in finding players to play with...

For those who get here from the hyper burn event for some reason, he's completly right.
You CAN... skip this part but the prerequist to proceed is just totaly stupid. You would need to be carried extremely hard(weekly for weeks) to get arcane... AND you'll end up doing the prequest and farm Lomien anyway soon or later... sooooooooooooooo its like being completly stubborn and not willing to play the game at all at this point. There's no point to skip at all.

You literally baited just like youre saying he did. You didn't explain why it was key to progression, you were just talking about someone elses channel,.
???? The stats that you gain from absolab set apply before potentials, meaning that once you 17* abso pieces, your set effects and item stats are added together. Then, your potentials are multiplied by the additive percent of potentials on your equipment.
I show the raw stat lost, and the fact he didn't run Lotus or Damien, meaning a significant amount of weekly mesos also being lost.
I then elaborate on his outrageous comments regarding progression and how the game should be played, while pointing out that he was being a hypocrite, omitting the fact that he did exactly what he was telling others not to do.
The video does exactly that:
- Absolab set - Applied before potentials, big thing
- Absolab items when starforced - Larger contribution to stats, difference between my gear at 17*, and his gear at 17* is the amount of stat offered by a 22* item, which is a big problem
- Mesos lost for not running bosses weekly
- Lieing about carries in comments
- Misleading remarks regarding optimal progression in comments
What part did you not understand?
I dont get why hes getting so much hate for this. Being wrong isnt lying to people is it now? Theres just no way he deserves all this backlash and i dont understand why more and more people jump him for this when it is clear to everyone (and its been spoken out) so many times that he is just missinformed
he doesnt stop trying to spread his missinformation and is stuck with his way of thinking that abso is not needed
He has a main account in reg server with 260+ phantom main. He's coming from a mindset of "buy your way to endgame gear and skip the early/mid game" but the experienced reboot veterans know this will not be applicable at all, and missing out of the meso/gear for future mules because of "almost as good gear" is laughable. That's why the reactions are all the same.
