  • In order to install a new brake line to the rear or cable housing for the rear derailleur, your best bet to do this job quickly and without pulling your hair out, is to remove the lower pivot bolt and get the chainstay partially out of the way. The video is basically useless but you can see that it is needed.
The cable guide shroud must also be removed in order to access the foam tube, this can be done from the head-tube side of the frame as well. but once you get toward the rear of the bike you need to do this to essentially save time. Be sure to do this if you have to do a fresh install of a dropper post, which I don't think anyone has to do anymore.
NOTE: use Blue Loctite 242 when reinstalling the pivot bolt!!

Helpful! Thank you. From there is it pretty straightforward, once everything has been taken apart?

if you've got some experience with internal cable routing, it will seem fairly straightforward. Personally, the most difficult part is getting all the air out of a brake line once it's fixed on the bike like that. At least doing it this way you'll reduce your level of headache. Every time I've had to do this, it's been far from enjoyable. I hope you'll have a smooth experience with it.

@@insightbike Thank you! I hope so as well. Planning to get to it tonight. Guessing taking the triangle apart is essential. I tried to remove the old line without removal, and I think the angels are too extreme to install / un install with everything still connected. Looks like that was your experience as well?

@@taylorrubart yes. I used to work in a Specialized Dealership and once these bikes hit the market it only took 2 minutes of fidgeting with it to conclude that the back end had to come apart. The first two models in the series didn't come with dropper posts so that was how we discovered this had to be done. No one wanted a stumpjumper without a dropper! Hope it went well.
