He’s good and even better with cons, but if you have furina or yelan it isn’t as much of a top priority to build him. While he does better in application category, not every team needs hydro and if you have an alternative it’s usually good enough. The only place I really use him over other units is burngeon and for me personally I use nilou bloom so I don’t even use burngeon unless I’m messing around. Double hydro core is fantastic but I rarely use it because my roster is filled with a lot of good options.
I love his rainsword gameplay and especially at c6 it's a treat for me . He makes me feel like Virgil 😂
I C6 my Xingqiu on Neuvillettes banner, and I absolutely built him because he is a bookworm like me and I love his character
I got him at c6 3 years ago. He is lvl 20 and i never used him once. No regrets.

I am a relatively new player and I feel like he's actually quite situational depending on your wishing luck. My first 5 star was Yelan, then I got Ayato. I've been playing for half a year and my Xingqiu is still C0. At this point I'm not sure I'm ever going to build him. I hear he's not that great without cons and I'm not planning on pulling specifically for him. Futhermore I have all my hydro needs covered by Yelan and Ayato, and I'm also going to pull Furina, then maybe Sigewinn. I'm also considering Nilou. After getting all those hydros and investing into them I feel like I'll be more inclined to build my Candace to try some weird infusion stuff rather than spending my resources on a character that might be outstanding eventually with cons but doesn't really provide anything special for me at C0.

@@user-wm1rw6yy9j i xinqiu isnt really like optimal but generally good so if u have other good hydro that is best in slot in the team already, xinquiu is kinda mid

I spent 34 starglitters to C6 him. I hope it wasn't a mistake because those could help me clutch Arlecchino :')
I did the exact same thing, his c6 is honestly so good, definitely worth imo
Tbh out of all the " HYPED META Characters" Xibgqiou is the only one thats FUN to play /use. Compared to benny who i hate( circle impact) fischl who has esentially been delagated as off field dps, and xiangling who is basically useless bcuz of how energy hungry she is.
Cant wait to see what benny/xiangling 5☆ upgrade is
Edit: the other reason why i tend to hate/dislike meta characters. Is simply bcuz is " bloom/hyper centred, neuvilete, furina centred" its annoying to ask for build help, when everyone just suggests the same build/team
is it better to use the the currency that can be use in the shop to buy xinquiu better to use for him or use it for wishes? i think xinquiu is amazing but he has a bunch of competition now and he is like an a tier but some other hydro unit max out the team. sometime he has too much hydro application for bloom cause only 2 cores deal damage and too much hydro is overkill compare to someone like kokomi who has slower hydro and more than enough. also with yelan, her hydro is usually enough and she provides a bunch damage. for defense well kokomi heals is very good and for the hutao, usually she is shield by zhongli so it kinda defeats the spinning swords. he is very good for an all round support but maybe not optimal
Imho (Ryft), if you already have him at C0, not really, but if you don't have him at all, I definitely would buy him from the shop.

Got a Nuke with decent aoe ✅
Being an actual sub DPS ✅
