Both of my favorites in Makuuchi AND Juryo are doing quite well! And both bashos are so exciting because they are sooooo close! Go Nabatame! Go Hoshoryu!
Nabatame's new Right Club is quite the weapon - he's timing it's use properly and wisely. 3 matches straight he's won with it, so have to think others are watching this.
I think Shishi takes it. There won't be a playoff tomorrow unless Shishi loses, and he's already gone through all the top dogs in Juryo this tournament. He'll probably have an easy win and take the championship. I'm super proud of Nabatame's performance though! What a huge comeback from those first 4 days! Not to mention beating both tournament leaders back to back!
I got a better look at Nabatame's technique this time. He throat thrusts to start (I think) to get the opponent to go for his mawashi. When they lean forward to do so, he sidesteps and then hits them with that nasty right cross forearm, knocking them off balance. He can then pretty much push them out of the ring or push them down. He's really done well his last 3 bouts using this technique. Really awesome! Appreciate your videos Don Don!
At the start of the basho, Nabatame was complaining about sinusitis and looked a bit slow and lethargic. Great to see him this fired up and focused now.
I had the strangest feeling Aonishiki-zeki and Nabatame-zeki would be facing off on the last day of the honbasho, and sure enough they will be. Thank you so much for your amazing work on the videos. I cannot wait for the last day of the tournament.
Thanks for the day 14 bouts Dondon. Lots of contrasting fortunes in juryo today. Shimazuumi loses and gets demoted to division three. But, Sadanoumi beats the annoying Tohakuryu to get promoted to the top division. I like Sadanoumi and hope he can stay in the top division for the rest of the year. Aonishiki wins a long bout against the bigger Shirokuma. Aonishiki still has a bit to learn to hopefully stay in the top division....for example, learning from Nabatame today on how he beat Ryuden...attack more from the side. Great win under pressure from Shishi again today....his movement matched Kotoeiho today, great to see. Shishi just needs to beat Tomokaze tomorrow to win the championship. Let's go Shishi.
That right hook to the body, left to the throat combo is killer. He’s only done it…6 times I have personally watched this basho. I’m gonna do it. Stop me. Nobody can!
Or not the power he has brings someone who just practices balance for a living for a loss. It has to be significant. When you see his weight training on sumo food he trains for that explosive strength.
Absolutely hilarious comment. His style is a classical style. In Japan they even praise him for having a Japanese style of sumo compared to many of the wrestling and judo styles of European rikishi. The style works perfectly for his size and his technique, balance, and timing are all excellent. Go and watch WWE with those laughable opinions 😂 Your comment is also not true! He thrusts from low as a way of a) avoiding taking frontal charges from larger rikishi, and b) to set up his preferred inside grips on the mawashi. Which he showed exactly in this example
@@TerriblyNice_Not So? I don’t like that style for Japanese rikishi either, just not for me. And my comment stands that he shouldn’t have won that. You trying to reframe his bad coordination and lack of focus as classical sumo strategy is what’s hilarious.
Aonishiki has improved a lot. In previous basho he would simply thrust for a grip and clinch with his head down. In this basho he is clearly more versatile and switching between yotsu and oshi more often. Amazing performance from just 20 yo guy
@@r4v4g3rNo your comment does not stand. It's laughable. He shouldn't have won? What does that even mean? He won and not by accident. His tactics and strategy were better and backed by good technique. It was a frontal crush out victory, one of the most dominant kimarite possible. And yeah, it sounds like sumo just isn't for you generally. The idea that he had poor coordination in that match is bizarre. You don't know what you are looking at. You're such a good example of the ignorance of your typical sumo fan outside Japan today. All opinions; no knowledge 😂

Hakkeyoi!!!
Because of your coverage Don Don I have come to enjoy Juryo division.
Big THANK YOU ❤ !!
This side swipe of Nabatame has come from nowhere and it has legitimately won him three in a row against Makuuchi quality rikishi
This guy has leveled up his game substantially, it's insane
Perfectly timed parry when opponent tries to grab the belt
Has he been working on his boxing or something..calling it a parry but ..damn. Its a vicious looking move 💪🏽💪🏽
@@ZEUCE62it’s a clubbing right hook 😂
Naba-tanky, that dudes right arm is a freaking canon!
That damned parry-and-sidestep from Nabatame is amazing. He makes an incredible amount of space with it.
Thank you for showing Sadanoumi v. Tohakuryu, what a great outcome!
Again Shishi was very intelligent with his leg positioning not allowing any grip neither any pressure from distance by the opponent.
Nabatame signature move 🔥
Both of my favorites in Makuuchi AND Juryo are doing quite well! And both bashos are so exciting because they are sooooo close! Go Nabatame! Go Hoshoryu!
nabatame with the side slap again lmfao
Iron Hand Nabatame strikes again. Love to see it. Fantastic win.

Bravo Nabatame san! 🔥💪🔥
Nabatame San, you are rocking it! Super proud of you 🎉💃 Love you tons ❤
Nabatame has one hell of a right club, topples giants!
Thank you Don Don!
I hoped to see the Miyagi match on this recap. It was such an exciting David vs. Goliath match.
Nabatame just made my day! 😊
LETS GO NABATAME! I legitimately exclaimed aloud. Is he actually going to pull off the championship???
I think Shishi takes it. There won't be a playoff tomorrow unless Shishi loses, and he's already gone through all the top dogs in Juryo this tournament. @@Benana_001 cheering for shishi, but there are no easy victories in sumo, anything can happen, even yokozuna can lose to outsiders
@@Benana_001 I agree with this, defeating shishi and ryuden is a good achievement already
All of a sudden, my guy is in contention.. Lessgoo Nabatame 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Going to be an interesting final day.

As i've said, Nabatame machine gun push style is effective against grappling type Sumo.
I had the strangest feeling Aonishiki-zeki and Nabatame-zeki would be facing off on the last day of the honbasho, and sure enough they will be. Thank you so much for your amazing work on the videos. I cannot wait for the last day of the tournament.
I was soo glad to see him win yesterday! Goooo Nabatame!!!! 💜🥰
That side parry from nabatame has been very effective this tournament. Good thing he added it to his sumo.
Those sideways parries from Nabatame have been a game changer this yusho
Top Division Sumo by Sadanoumi.
Nabatame is pulling it off..keep going 🥰
Sadanoumi was not happy about the henka and tossed his opponent like a sack of garbage for his efforts.
Iron Hand is such a cool nickname. Did Takakeisho throw him some pointers? That power slap is a monster.
In one of the Sumofood videos, Nabatame said that he's a fan of Daieisho.
شی شی واقعا آماده است ❤
video thumbnail has given nabatame the power! now do roga for makuuchi division lol
Thanks for the day 14 bouts Dondon.

Nabatame is my favorite professional athlete right now. In USA, former American football fan.
That right hook to the body, left to the throat combo is killer. He’s only done it…6 times I have personally watched this basho. I’m gonna do it. Stop me. Nobody can!
NABATAME'S IRON HAND STRIKES AGAIN. GET THIS YUSHO, NABATAME. GUNBARE!
nabatame love quick parry
I'd like to personally inform everyone who ragged on Nabatame day 4 that they are now officially certified Nabatame Hater's. Congratulations.
Go Nabatame!!! 🙏🏼💜
Aonishiki!
Tbh, the third fight deserved top spot. Great movement by both rikishi, attacking and countering. Amazing performance
Nabatame is having one hell of a basho! Needs to win the championship for an early promotion to Makuuchi.
Shishi's strength is all gathered in his arsse
Thar hikakke is clean
Can't wait for the day that Nabatame makes it to Makuuchi and evolves into his final form, the Hairy Human Chode.
Nabatame is a monster, but he is so one-dimensional fighter. More skilled opponents may find a remedy against his technique.
Well, both Takakeisho & Daiesho disagree!😂😂😂
Or not the power he has brings someone who just practices balance for a living for a loss. It has to be significant. When you see his weight training on sumo food he trains for that explosive strength.
We need Shishi to lose so that Nabatame can’t have a chance at the championship!
nabatame must pass aonishiki first to have a chance at the playoffs
Aonishiki’s style is infuriating to me. Looks down and thrusts endlessly 😡 he should not have won that match.
