- Erica Synths Black DJ VCF provides sound treatment functionality typically found on DJ decks - it is fully open when the cutoff knob is set to 12:00. When turned counter-clockwise, lowpass filtering is applied and when turned clockwise, highpass filtering is applied. The Black DJ VCF is of a fully analogue design and consists of two VCFs - highpass and lowpass in series and thefilter management is done by complex CV routing.
Timeline:
00:02 - "Ar mani atkal runā kaijas" filtered with DJ VCF and modulated with Octasource
01:05 - Gabber kick through the DJ VCF with some resonance added
02:02 - Mono breakbeat sent through two DJ VCFs and modulated with the Octasource to screate a stereo effect
03:08 - Noisy loop through DJ VCF
03:47 - Wabetable VCO sent through DJ VCF which is modulated with a envelope from Black EG2
04:32 - Jam from Multilux where whole eurorack system is sent through DJ VCF

one thing i dont think they mention is theres a lovely little notch at center, its not hard to get in or out of, but it takes the guesswork out of center, unlike my ikarie

I'm looking for a DJ style filter for my live rig(RIP overseer at reasonable prices), this would be tight, but it's mono. So kinda pointless sending my end of chain with stereo effects through it. I Could go the sync route, but buying 2 and a sync now has me at the price point of an overseer, but with crazy amount of HP for an end of chain filter. Really just wish this was stereo and you'd be giving dual dagger a run for its money.

I don't think the cutoff knob is handy as a DJ Filter to be zero in 12 o'clock position. So for quick cutoffs in a live situation it is hard to target the 12 o'clock position quickly and perfectly. It would be clever to set HP or LP via a switch. In general it's nice to have more DJ like modules.
I'm pretty sure it notches at the 12'o'clock position...
