thank you for showing the Baldy Bowl. i didn't know it's that big and that it takes that long to hike up. also love the map visualization. it's very helpful in locating.
That was scarier than it was funny. The potential for a bad ending was palpable. I was hearing in my head the shark scene music from Jaws when you were up on the steep section.
The upper section is tracked out and lower sections are not because the person that is 1.) Technically developed enough to ski Baldy Bowl and 2.) Willing to commit to hiking Baldy bowl is the type of person who isn't going to bail early LOL. You basically get a bunch of skiers who won't settle for anything less than the mountain top.
I got caught in this exact same sort of crap at Alta a couple of weeks ago. Crust with surprise pockets underneath when you fall through. It caught my ski and sent me at speed right into a tree (glancing blow). Save these spots for days when you know it's consistent on top like right on the tail of a storm.
Congrats! Well done man, but looks like the juice may not have been worth the squeeze…Only issue why alone on exposed avi terrain, I would be afraid to do that?
Sadly this spot rarely opens. It is one of the last places Snowbird ski patrol mitigates therefore snow is likely less than stellar. I had the pleasure of riding it in great snow during the Covid lockdown and it was phenomenal!

I love seeing ppl complain about snow at snowbird come to the ice coast
"Pretty sure I'll come back." Mistake #4?
Good job dude
Really miss your great ski posts. Hope there will be more!

Good graphic. But why alone? Is it safe with an AVY partner? Funny sponge Bob bridges. Good job. And another nice video.

very true. Pipeline, Baldy Bowl and Zone 5 are the last places ski patrol mitigates and open very rarely. Gotta go there once they open!
This is an area you hike for the terrain, not the snow.
