I think Joe was never meant to be a likeable character but rather a confusing one. One moment he kills Benji, the other he gets Paco some books and gives that kid a feeling of safety. That has many people confused and has them question how they feel towards Joe. He has a way of getting into your head with his reasoning and although I hate him, a part of me is always kind of rooting for him. Not like "wohoooo yes Joe, kill her!" but more like "Come on Joe, you can do better than that! Don't do it!"

And it would explain him spazzing on Claudia for not knowing where Paco was when she was hospitalized. He probably sees a a lot of himself in Paco. It’s still endearing that he’s so caring towards him but a lot of it is out of self involved reasons
I think this show is relatable in the sense that many of us know at least one person who confuses us in a way similar to the way Joe confuses us. Whether it be in a romantic, platonic, or familial relationship, there’s always that one person who will do something downright evil one minute and do something sweet and endearing the next. It’s really a manipulative tactic used to keep people in a relationship. And when people do those things it’s like even though they do things that are completely awful, you can’t help but think about the good things that they have done as well.
or at the very least at the end when she had him locked up she could have not done the ONE THING that you never say to your stalker "I could never love you" lol that was the final nail in the coffin!

I’m so glad that Penn isn’t glorifying his character and that he’s actually telling it like it is. I think it’s important for young viewers who look at him and think ”oh he’s cute that means everything he does is justified” to actually hear it from the actor himself that this is NOT a love story, and being too emotionally attached to the person you care about the most is never a good thing.

I actually loved Peach, but in the way that you're suppose to love a character you hate. Like she was great at what she was suppose to be. her dynamic with Joe was interesting and their ending conversation was great cuz they were so honest.

There's kind and friendly Joe who Beck fell in love with and then there's Rejected and abandoned Joe who is so afraid of being abandoned again he will go to any lengths to stop it. Beck's death was tragic and I haven't read the books but think how cool it would be if Joe were being haunted by the ghost of Beck. I mean at the end of season 1 I thought that Candice might also just have been in his imagination and if that's the case why not let them both haunt him

In an interview Elizabeth Lail (actress for Beck) said that she didn’t quite know what she was auditioning for and had to read the book to actually find out more about the character Beck. That’s when she realised Beck was going to die... Elizabeth said that she was sad about Beck’s death but that it was “the right thing to happen” in that situation... I loved Beck so freakin’ much I really hope she returns to season 2 but unfortunately don’t think she is... I know the conspiracy theories are very much logical but Elizabeth her self said it in an interview so there’s nothing we can do then just accept that she died...
Beck should have seen the red flags in the beginning. He mentions a few things she never told him, also all of the coincidences Peach called him out on. Red flags everywherrrre.

Joe only kills bad people. Every single person he kills in the book (and probably in the TV series) are as sick as him. (but in a different way)

Maybe the reason why we like joe is because we have the hope that eventually he will change, for love... Since the beggining you think joe is good, no he's not, no no at the end of the day he is a good guy who have suffered in the past (we kind of justify him), then you change idea, again. He's confusing but... we still wish it will be an happy ending with beck... like he will change for her...His character does very bad things but the director doesnt want us to hate him. And besides, with such an actor interpretating the role we can t help but like the character! I mean, he is so good, his expressions, his voice... he is very handsome and everything makes you want to give another chance to this character. I know it could sound nonsense but to me it makes sense!

This book / Tv show is also like the book Lolita. In both, the main characters are doing something horrible but deep inside we all root for them a little bit because of the love story that’s going on in the background
In an interview Elizabeth Lail (actress for Beck) said that she didn’t quite know what she was auditioning for and had to read the book to actually find out more about the character Beck. That’s when she realised Beck was going to die... Elizabeth said that she was sad about Beck’s death but that it was “the right thing to happen” in that situation... I loved Beck so freakin’ much I really hope she returns to season 2 but unfortunately don’t think she is... I know the conspiracy theories are very much logical but Elizabeth her self said it in an interview so there’s nothing we can do then just accept that she died...
