I’ve just finished this hat and it turned out amazing. Loved the instructions and pace. Also, I have used my circular needles only because I had no double sided ones and it was fine. Mine had a pretty long cable and maybe that is why it worked. I am so happy with it ❤❤❤🎉Thank you so much!
i made this last night and it was my first project following a pattern and i’m just staring at my cute hat and can’t believe i made it myself! thank you for the clear instructions, the shape is exactly what i wanted!

I was going to make hats for Christmas for my 4 adult daughters, my two oldest granddaughters and myself. I can't find the appropriate needles anywhere although one granddaughters has one. One thing I especially appreciate is that you show how to change from circulars to DPNs.
I really like this pattern. I would like to use a different bulky yarn like LION BRAND WOOL - EASE THICK AND QUICK. What adjustments would I need to make to use it with this pattern?
Hi Sylvia, the yarn I used and Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick are BOTH super bulky weight yarns. You can follow the same instructions using that yarn. Enjoy! 😀
I’m just learning to knit but I was just wondering is there a way to keep it from rolling up at the bottom? Awesome tutorial! Can’t wait to give it a try!
Hi Shelby, This had was meant to be a really easy beginner knitting pattern. However, you can do a ribbed edge at the cast on. You could do 1x1 (k1p1) for the first two or three inches. That will keep the hat from rolling. Enjoy! 😀
Hi Iris, This pattern was made specifically for super bulky yarn. You can knit it in a thinner yarn with smaller needles but you'll need to add more stitches for the cast on. The hat measures 20" around. Look at the gauge on the yarn label of the hat you want to knit to see how many stitches it is per inch. Then multiply that by 20. That is how many stitches you'll cast on. Use the needle size recommended on the yarn label. 😀
@@nobleknits nothing special just things like shorts or jackets or tote bags I’ve picked up crocheting because of all these but it would be great if you could figure out if you can knit them as well
Hi Feyza, Thank your question! This cardigan is a vintage Liz Claiborne sweater from the late 1980s/early 1990s. It belonged to my mother and my daughter was so happy she inherited it. There isn't a pattern for it but I've had a lot requests...so I may look into recreating it. 😀
Let’s say it’s very important you use the exact size of needles - length wise - I have 22 inches long and it started to spread out on the needle so much it was very difficult to knit; I gave up after the 1st row… also for me the gap between the two needles just kept growing - after cast on - 1st row, the thread was longer at each time knitting, I have no idea why - I just removed my thread from the needles, will try to find the 16 inches length needles and maybe try again; quite discouraged :( I really wanted to make it today - present for Christmas for my Mom
Yes, when you are knitting in the round the needle length is SO important! Don't be discouraged, you learned some valuable information and you've already grown so much as a knitter! Also, when you move down to a 16" you may notice a slight gap between the first and last stitch but it will go away after you knit a few rounds. Your mom will be so happy when she gets this gift from you! 😀
@@nobleknits thank you for the kind words - just finished the hat :) looks really good :) didn't turn out to be a Xmas present but she will be still very happy with it - was so easy on the correct needle length, yeey - although the pointy bamboo needles got a bit crowded at the end :D
It's nearly impossible for me tio find hats that fit because I have a large head so I'm excited to try this pattern! I need a hat that measures 23 inches around the head. Will this pattern work or do I need to cast on more stitches when I start?

"...make a hat using only the knit stitch (no purling!)" --- so funny for me because I knit Portuguese style, where purling is MUCH easier than the knit stitch! 😂 (I'll probably knit this one inside out, lol)
Hi Barb, Cast on 44 stitches. Knit until the hat measures 7" from the beginning. Then work Decrease Round 1 as follows: *K9, k2tog. Repeat from * around. You should have 40 sts. Now go to Decrease Round 2 and follow the rest of the pattern. 😀

Hi Piper, I'm so glad you like it! 😀
Thank you for this video, Nancy! Is there a way to make the brim on this hat larger? So it’s a bit more “hat like” rather than similar to a beanie?
You could start the hat with 3 or 4 roes of rib stitch - 1 purl 1 knit - all the way around to make it more like a hat.

Can you use 8 ply wool
This is just a garter stitch? Or is there a purl? Looks smoother/flatter than a straight up garter.
