MOST people didn’t like the looks of the 1971-72. It was a radical departure from the first gen Road Runner. I believe it has grown on people in the last 50 years, which is good. Also, the 440-Six Pack makes up for any deficiencies in its looks!
Beautiful car someday i mite have a car like that.thats when they built automobile they had style you could tell them apart from from eachother and you could work on them .awesome channel the best on in my opinion they show you top tp bottom of there cars they don't hide things from customers.thank you for your hard work brother long time viewer
Pop & I just pulled a 71 Road Runner with a 340 into R garage that sat in the yard for about 9 years and before that a barn up state where a friend of mine pulled it out of. He ended up owing me a couple hundred dollars he handed the title over to me maybe one day it'll look as good , really don't have the money but really liking the body style 👍👍 😈🖤☠🍻👍✌✌✌
I had a 72 petty blue with air grabber hood. It had a 383. 391 rear gear. I noticed that one didn't have a rear sway bar. Mine did. Also my air grabber scoop only opened when I flipped the vacuum switch under the dash. I miss that car very much. I totaled it after 10 highway patrol chased me 48 miles when I was 21. I'm 61 now. Happened in N.C. Still live here. Don Snow Jr.
Don Snow again. I had a realistic telephone type CB radio in that 72 Road Runner. My Handel was Super Chicken. Met a lot of beavers that wanted to choke my chicken. Then my wife told me the radio had to go or she would. I met her when I was 19. We are still together. 7 years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Went through surgery, strongest chemo, radiation. Was told I the best I could hope for was to live around 2 1/2 years. 3 yrs. later it came back stage 4 again. Went through same stuff again. I have a 99 Chevy truck and am a retired auto tec. Have built many engines for others. Decided one of the things on my bucket list is for the first time build my own race engine. So I'm building a 383 stroker I bought from Summit Racing. Over ran my budget so I'll have to wait until I get my taxes back next year .Looking forward to it. Always keep a project going. Never give up hope.
Don, bravo on visual / radio run ! I did a 71 hemi RR /4spd THIS color run in 79. NY to LA during gas crisis / trucker's strike....low traffic, LOTS of gas stops . Most 71/72 vids on UA-cam, I can't help but comment. IF your car was an actual dealer "Petty Special", it came with paint code, usually white vinyl top 1/2 or formal full, 383 and A/C. Most were ordered and offered by Florida Daytona area / region "Southern Plymouth" dealers, as we're sponsor for Petty on rear quarter in 72 season. Petty package also suspension, so HD, as Towing, and HD cooling, alternator, etc. See once in a while in local FLA Auto Traders, usually in pairs. Worth a trip in Nov. for Turkey Rod Run show at DAYTONA Speedway for Thanksgiving weekend. Oh yeah, NY upstate to LA run...36 hours. ALL the cops in TN involved in midnight stop, and one cop stop in AZ. 18 years old, still chills @ 60. Mopars Rule !
Don, I bought my 71 in Memphis, TN, an Indiana dealership car. In June 79. Was 8 years as new, unsold demo. Had bought 1st 70 Superbird in Raleigh, NC in Nov 78, en route from SC boot camp. Barn painted / dirt stored cheap. 2nd Super in 82, in CA. Both 440 automatic column. 2nd was Mexican blue paint / TJ black diamond tuck boat vinyl interior. (Over a nice, complete blue interior) 79-83 a great time to buy unknowns from owners dumping big, OLD, weird cars. Long list, all crazy cheap, even then. Too fun to drive fast on freeways. Hang tough sir.
my 71 had air grabber PLUS factory spoiler on back 13mpg though had it in early 70s / bought from my brother a sales rep. it was in 73 was his company car.$2200
Richard Petty won the Daytona 500 both races in a 71 Runner. One must experience speeds above 110 mph to understand the way it squats with hard down force at high speeds. It sticks to the road at high speeds. 71 with a 383 could bury the 150 mph speedometer.
Very great origin restoration for beautyfull Américan cars. I want one plymouth GTX 440 V8 please, model 69. For Europe France sud, Hérault, Robin thank so much ;-)
I had one of these when I was a senior in high school back in '75.
The 71 Road Runner is my favorite of all the Road Runners.
me too i found one in my local dealer
Slick styling
My favorite Road Runner, lot more civilized chassis, better handling than the early ones, disc brakes etc
This guy has a dream job
I think he is owner of this big business...!

One of the best engines for Mopar muscle cars is 426ci . that is awesome and amazing engine
Love these roadrunners
Skip to 2:35 to save your time:)
Bad ass, my favorite Roadrunner.
Absolutely beautiful
What a pretty car 👍
Nice ride
1970 my favorite
The automatics were a lot better than those hard to shift 4 speeds.ive drove both
🧢
Bull shot I owned both and four speed pistol grip would shift like butter. Slamming gears without any hesitation
Greg, what muscle cars do you own personally? I'd imagine with this kind of selection you've got at least a couple of your own.
Greg owns a 1969 Mercury Cyclone.
