- This is an audience recording made at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
Joan Sutherland gave a spectacular performance of the famous soprano arias from Meyerbeer's Les Huguenots as well as the the final trio from Gounod's Faust. In 1969 she recorded the complete Huguenots for Decca, also in spectacular form !
The greatest voice of the XX century. Sutherland is intouchable
Magnificent singing. How we miss Dame Joan.
Joan is torrential in the trio.
Sì come un fiume in piena!
Il grande diluvio
Joan ALWAYS delivered, especially in Galas and special occasions. She never let her audience down. The Faust Trio is wonderful and Marguerite was a great role for her. I saw her do the role in Hartford CT when they had an opera company. Tatty sets, but Joan wore her own costumes and jewelry. Unforgettable! I miss her every day.
She was my Loreley !
HOWE WE MISS Sutherland ,Nilsson , Caballe , Horne , Tebaldi , Arroyo Bumbry , Cossotto , Verett , Obrazova..Scotto 😢😊
Fabulous. I was lucky to hear her sing these two items at a Covent Garden gala in 1981 and she
was still stupendous!!!
😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you! That trio is orgasmic both in its composition and in this glorious execution. Opera such as this takes you out of yourself. You are cast into the heavens.
Thank you 🙏🏻 I was fortunate enough to see Dame Joan’s opening night of Les Huguenots at the Sydney opera house. He last complete opera before she retired. 🪦 ❤
Sublime!
STUPENDA JOAN
Where on earth do you get all these amazing recordings? I'm very impressed ❤
Its a matter of some 50 years collecting and making many trips to hear Joan with of course tape recorder ! She knew !!!!
