  • OrientByFace command moves objects from the base face to the target face. This command can be used to easily place or copy objects on an inclined surface. When a curved face is selected, it is placed based on the surface.
Try to perform the operation of defining CPlane and using RemapCPlane command with OrientByFace command.

Very useful command, I use it quite a bit, thank you.
I mostly use it for getting a large number of objects on oblique planes down onto the ground plane, extracting linework and sending it to cnc via dxf.
I was wondering do you think there is a way to do multiple objects at the same time? (for instance select target face for objects, then select faces from these object to move to target face with the object) or even some sort of command that orients a large number of objects to the ground plane based on their largest face?
    Thanks again.

It's great to hear that you like the command!
We had a similar command for a custom plugin in another project. The command aligns objects based on their largest flat surface to the XY plane for CNC. If this approach works for you, I'll try to include a similar command in the next release.

i think some BOM commands would be nice thing to see. a way to auto name objects, then poroject those pieces in 2d space along with their views, annotations. and finally tables with all production data with xls export. I think that some furniture software have this ability. BOM is very impotant thing. for example i am drafter and i am drawing lets say stone panels on floor and walls. and now i have to name those panels draw them in 2d in all views, annotate them and fill the tables with data. its very time consuming. also it would be good to recogonize left and right details. also it would be great to be able to recognize finished surfaces or be able to indicate finished or unfinished surfaces, for example by color as we can change face color in rhino. so then in 2d space the edge would have this color too. Rhino is super, but some funcionality is missing and it can be found in software like solidworks and fusion.
