look up why we call football that in this country. the truth is that the original version of soccer was more like rugby than soccer, and is called football because you are on your feet as opposed to being on a horse. rugby is a variant of soccer and therefore so is American football. it's an annoying argument to mock us for saying soccer and calling American football what it is.
i watch soccer enough to know that you guys constantly choke and under perform. i also do know what soccer means, what's with your asinine assumptions? i never said it wasn't football, i'm just calling it what it's called in my nation, which is soccer, a word the brits made up and used in nations that have their own version of football (US, Canada, Australia). seems I know more than you assumed.
ot's stupid and fantic to a say it.. iceland is a good team and congratulatiosn for your Olympic game 2008 in Beijing But to say iceland is the best team of all time.. tyoa
if the only thing you got for me is that the defense is more physical and people dive to the ground, you don't have a very compelling argument. basketball players dive for the ball all the time. and D is tough if you're playing with competent players.
I've played soccer (aka, to other countries, football) as a kid, and it sucks because we cannot use our hands to touch the ball. Handball, on the other, in which Yahoo sent me here, looks more awesome!!!
someone enlighten me. i don't see how this sport is much different than basketball except basketball has a much smaller goal and thus requires more skill.
I like the third goal on the video. It's fantastic!!! I played handball for 9 years, but then I had a f*ckin' knee accident (OP, ...). I miss this sport );
minuto 3:03 ... la jugada puede cobrarse como acción pasiva (jugada sin intenciones de atacar el arco opuesto), de todos modos MARAVILLOSAS JUGADAS RECOMPILA ESTE VIDEO =)
@xtapodiKsidato In Europe different brands characterize sports. While Nike as widepsread variety of products on football and futsal. Handball has brands that specialize on its characteristics Kempa is the main supporter, Adidas has a very famous model amoung handballers the adidas stabil. Asics has a few good models too, so has puma The sneakers, have very different aspects, for instants, the sole of the handball sneaker has much adherence to the floor, and are ultralight this days hope i helped
@Falidimide trying imagine yourself being in defence and 6 guys in front of you are crossing each other passing the ball between them, you have to keep your eye on the ball, watch out for the guy in between your central defence while making sure that the playmaker cant lay up the back player so that he can get a shot. sorry, but i just cant take you seriousley, saying that this game aint that difficult. try making a team, get in as good shape as these guys and try to ask France to play you.
@hotchilly1122 you neednt feel bad for the goalies. im a handball goalie too and its quite an important(win/loose)but still a fun role to play within this game. imo its way simpler and less dangerous than it looks like. plus you can be in the goal up to a higher age because the players in the field get old and are not fit anymore, like beer standing around for years. but as a goalie youre like wine, just getting better with the years. u get slower but more experienced with time.
i remember playing this in highschool. It was pretty popular in the late '90 before everybody got jacked up on roids and people would just want to hurt opposing players. And being a goalie, this is how i got my fist concussions......what was i saying? So, it pretty much got phased out due to all the violence. This was in ottawa, Canada. I wonder if it was re-integrated as a team sport in schools.
Wow, I never saw this before it's like Soccer mixed with Basketball, pretty cool. I bet these guys would adapt really well to Basketball, at least as far as speed and dribbling but if they shoot they may instinctively throw the ball into the crowd. Even still this seems like a pretty cool sport, it's definitely not the type of kids playground game I was thinking of when I heard handball.
I am an american high school senior. my gym class is filled with a ton of the most popular kids in our grade. no one tries in football, basketball, dodgeball, volleyball, anything. but when we play handball, everyone plays about 100x harder. its so fast paced and exciting. i cant figure it out, but its awesome, man!!!
@SnailMuffin actually it wasnt a double dribble only because lol when he did the frontflip thing he actually touched the ball onto the ground which countered as a bounce, so it reset his 3 steps, so he took three steps touch the ball on the ground(counts as a bounce) and another 2, thats why the ref didnt call it
what an obscure sport... hardly.. Wikipedia:By February 2007, the IHF listed 159 member federations - approximately 1,130,000 teams and 31 million players, trainers, officials and referees.. Unlike football/soccer,it's interesting sport where you don't spend most of the game just dribbling around midfield..but you're always attacking or defending the goal.
i think the goalkeeper in handball needs a better skill than a soccer-goalkeeper because the distance is much shorter, the balls were thrown with a high speed (70 mph an more - much more!), quite heavy (about same weight as a football(soccer)) and extreme precise. Enrome forces act on the body of the Gk because they use the whole body to protect the goal.
im all with you i've played it in schools, i've been in a team. I also played basketball and it sure is not like handball. The problem is that this sport is not well known, especially in America. And people often have a prejudgement about this sport. To like it you need to know how it works
Had a chance to see a few handball games from the Athens Olympics. This sport looks interesting, it's like a combination of basketball and soccer/hockey. Is this sport popular primarily in Europe or is there a global interest? I don't know if there are any handball leagues here in the US.
i love this sport, handball is great, very tough... cant play anymore because the hard ground isnt that good for my knees. now i play lacrosse, i love it, perfect for handballplayers who like to play a tough sport on grass... hey handballers, check out LACROSSE, i think you will like it. keep playin.
HAHA IT SEEMS EASY? i dont even. Have you really played against people that know how to play? You know that its a sport full of physical contact right? And that you cant slip past the defense when the opposite team knows how to play right?
@SnailMuffin Dont think so cose as he performs his trick, he touched the ball on the ground and that could be understood as a bouncing, anyway.. whether it was or not, the ref was probably to freaked out to call anything.. lol sick
where can i find handball in a league in canada? ontario canada to be exact. ive played it in gym class and didnt think anything of it, but played on a semi pro level would be alot of fun. and can someone tell me all of the rules also please?
I have played handball for 8 years, but i cant said that football is sucks just because i love handball. I love football too, and i like to play it. And if you say that handball is the worst sport, you must have at least one argument for that.
i did in my school, im just 14 btw im not a big tecknician in this sport.I just find very challenging when evry player on the feild is close from the goal and i becomes hard to move. i would prefer 4 man on each team( personal coment)
England is one of the best football teams in the world so i dnt no where you get your facts from, and if you try the its not football is soccer then learn what soccer means, its an abbreviation association football.
It really is. I was so surprised to find out this is a pro sport. I played this shit in gym class every year in school. Everything these pros are doing I could do with my friends in class. Seems like a pretty dumb pro sport.
We used to play this in highschool in the 80's(USA), I just just fell in love with the sport...we did however play with a smaller net to make the game more intresting and so the goalies actually had a chance to make a save...
I'm Australian Handball isn't popular hear at all in fact i hadn't heard of it until I saw Olympics but when i saw it i thought it was the coolest sport ever after rugby union to bad know one here knows about it.
this video is fantastic. When I was 16 I was an handball player and in a match I broke all my knee ligaments so I was forced to stop. Our pivot now plays in the italian B league. fantastic memories. thank you for posting this.
i played handball, cool sport. now i play lacrosse, kinda similar. just asked myself how handball would look like if you play it on grass and around the goal, like field lacrosse... haha, that would be great!
I love sports, in general. But I play handball in Uruguay and hope to be big some day. Who cares about football, handball or etc? football is not a better sport, it is DIFFERENT. so you cant compare them.
By the 19th century, there existed similar games of haandbold from Denmark, hazena in Bohemia and Slovakia, gandbol in Ukraine, torball in Germany, as well as versions in Ireland and Uruguay.
ROFL Are you on drugs? It's an Irish sport? "The team handball game as we know it today was formed by the end of the 19th century in northern Europe, primarily Denmark, Germany, Norway and Sweden."
OMG, I never knew what handball was, so I looked it up, on here [duhh] and that looks fun as crap. But like how could u get a Olympic trainer for that stuff?? And how do u sign up?
i just wonder whether this ball is too hard? it looks like a small basketball. and it hurts if someone throw a basketball with this kind of strenghth onto your body..what's the material?
I am not a fucking geek man I played football and and I did track and field. Handball is the worst sport around I agree with sambwfc football is better because it is more fun to play
idk it looks legal cuz he lands on two feet...maybe the ref counted the cartwheel when the ball touched as a bounce? :S .... if i was a ref i would just be in shock seeing that lol
hah yeah right, ive played that handball and i play this type of handball...its european handball. its way tougher and challenging. raquet handball doesnt have shit on handball. it sucks.
Im playing handball and i've seen prettier goals that this, but i think 2nd goal is best...at 1st goal,if u are goalkeeper and someone shoots "throught your head" u get very very mad
Thats some really great moments. you guys should have seen a friend of mine, his only 18 and scored from the mid field on a direct free throw in the final in a little tournement
the only ones that WOW'ed me are the super spin ones. and the like, 10-pass one. the power and placement ones didn't seem special because thats more expected of them tbh.
wow this looks like a pretty fun and exciting sport. I'd love to watch a full game but unfortunately I live in Canada and I don't have Satelite tv or cable...
OMFG, Handball is a better sport then any other sports(thats my opinion). I play it, and you need strength, agilty and brain for it. THE BEST SPORT EVER!!!
put your cute speedo's on, don't forget to shave your legs and your chest, make sure you bring that beautiful hat of yours and then we ll decide what s gay...
no, cos the world finds it funny how you play football with your hands, so its sounds funny next to handball cos you think you'd play it with your feet XD
As a handball player, I just love it. It's not a just sport, is more like a lifestyle. SnailMuffin, I think he took four steps before shooting on goal.
People that say a mlb pitcher should be in this game do you honestly think there are only good throwers in the states? Its a professional sport in europe and one of the biggest games after soccer. And you should have noticed that soccer players are small the big guys usually play handball wich is alot more physical and demands more sice and height. The "shooters"(i swe we call em 9meters since their position is behind the striped line) are usually over 2meters and got alot of power in the arm.
Like every French kid or so I had to play handball in High school (along Basket-ball and Volley-ball), and it was super fun. Hard to believe its an Irish sport considering no one even talked about it when I was growing up (in Ireland obviously)
Wellcome to Macedonia ! 8th Women's Handball European Championship 2 to 14 December 2008
/watch?v=BMDw68HBpIo
i am a beginer at handball and i am loving it its is lol that it isn't meant to be a contact sport:D
the ref should be giving yellow cards, the players are clearly hand balling the ball

soccer (association football) is played with your foot, (american) football with your hands, Americans play FOOTball with their hands, so its funny
Yes, and that's the reason why he scored his second goal in that game with his hand. Terry Butcher, Gary Lineker and Peter Shilton told me this. :)
no, cos the world finds it funny how you play football with your hands, so its sounds funny next to handball cos you think you'd play it with your feet XD
As a handball player, I just love it. It's not a just sport, is more like a lifestyle.
SnailMuffin, I think he took four steps before shooting on goal.
After watching this video I can say with all responsibility that Polish team is doing like that all the time. If not better ;D
I'm Polish
I'm proud!
I wish they had a league in America I'd sign up in a heartbeat but they don't and our olympic team is the Georgia of handball. (no offense to Georgia)
i agree, such a small ball and such a big goal, it is unlike soccer because you have better control with the ball when you throw, rather than kick.
Second ones Red Flag by Billy Talent. Wow, I never watched this before, I'm american but we play this in Phys Ed, this is alot more intense though lol
cuz you guy like diff sports? you guys aren't even good at soccer.
i'm from slovenia and this sport is the most popular sport in my town, i love it...i play it for about 4 years and want to be profesional player
really nice ones =) dcStyx, handball isn't rude. I'm playing handball, and ye, you gotta be tough. But it can be really really nice as you see =)
typical...
This can somebody only who never has played handball. handball is a very rude sport,
i think you won't survive the first 10 minutes...
People that say a mlb pitcher should be in this game do you honestly think there are only good throwers in the states? Its a professional sport in europe and one of the biggest games after soccer. the best goal is still at 2:13 ... I think it was Balic(the best individual player in the world) from crotia during Olympic Games 2004 in Greece
this sport looks awesome.. gonna look into it but where to start?
I think Handball is the best sport in the Earth. It's very pretty
i'm just begun with handball, and my position is left winger, but i'm finding it really hard to score from there. any tips??
great vid
Not easy at all. 10x Faster then both soccer and basketball and 100x more physical then both. Handball really isn't like any other sport
i really do like this game .. better than football to me .. im playing it now for 6 years.. i still have fun every time i go to training :)
i played handball in switzerland for three years. now i live in the usa and i miss it soo much. I wish handball was bigger in the usa
@Falidimide and, you only see some good shots and counters in these clips, try watching an actual match before you make a decision.
i'm 14 years old handball player and i would like to meet some other handall players in my age, so talk to me ^_^
handball ROCKS!
I'm playing handball in Switzerland
I'm playing it now for about 9 years and I'm 15
It's the best Sport in the hole fucking world
Red Flag by Billy Talent. I was surprised to hear it - it's one of my favorite songs and it made this video so much better.
I've been crazy about this sport since I saw a game in the Olympics as a kid. Too bad sports like this get no airtime in the US.
A new Highlight clip featuring Chen Pomeranz's handball moves in now aviable!!!
Just search Chen Pomeranz!!!!!!!!!!!
all you need a few pro baseball players on your team throwing those things at 80+ and you would have a team of snipers
cro kaleb's goal is the best(2:11)...croatia silver, denmark nice team work but there was a little bullshiting from judges
it seems unfair to the goalies, but i love this sport anyway
Nice Video!
But the last 4 vids suck because the goalkeeper is soooo unbelieveable bad!!!
And its nothing special
Não tem como não gostar de handebol. Que esporte incrível
im playing for this for HPE at school..i live in Australia and this sport should be much more recognised down here
if this ever goes american, definitely more contact and smaller goals.....BRING BACK SLAMBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is a proper sport. and you dont have to be 7 feet tall like basketball. i wish i had played it. o well
To all those of you who think handball goalkeepers are useless: search youtube for the name "thierry omeyer".
Name of 1 mp3 is Never gonna find me - Offspring
But what's name off second song ??

it is one of the best sports ever
Like every French kid or so I had to play handball in High school (along Basket-ball and Volley-ball), and it was super fun.
Then I did one match in the army, and I was brushed aside by colossuses ranging from 6'2 to 6'5. Impossible to down them like in rugby, xtremely frustrating.
Handball at high level is super unfair. Best physicality, you win.
A very good sport to watch at high level and to play for fun, for the rest nothing beats pick-up Football (I mean soccer) games and esp. Rugby, best sport by one mile.
@sanders92493 uhh actually a real handball ball is as hard as a basketball... i wont call them lucky haha
All of these people should be sent off... they are all penalty, red card handball lol!
Olafur Stefansson is the best handballer and has been for some years. And he comes from Iceland of course
I was in a tournament with my school for Handball a few years back. i can tell you that the game is pretty brutal. There is a lot more technique to it as well. Plus, the wall sucks. I got hit in the face with the ball trying to block. Stung like hell! Such a fun sport though.
I'm goalkeeper in school handball team and that goalkeepers are amazing. The best is guy from Barcelona!!
Hnadball is the best game ever!!I played in the A2 Greek division and i am big fun of it.HANDBALL for ever
It sounds funny even for me, I'm from Poland. btw. is there any difference between soccer and football?
sorry i didn´t mean it thx so mutch you are a good guy;)
