My neighbour had a top range BMW. Few months back, three car theives at 2AM tried to scan his keys but failed as he had a security pouch for keys. He saw the thieves and they raced away. Only last week, he washed his car at 7PM on Sat, then went inside for family dinner. They came back, did the same thing and stole the BMW as he forgot to use the key pouch. The theft was caught on house video and they used two scanners. One stood by the front door and the other by the car to start it once code was stolen. Time for theft...less than 5 seconds. For the best security, spend £500 on a decent immobilser. Without entering your special PIN code, there is no way a theft can occur unles it is towed away.
A few people have pointed out that there's a great deadlock feature in this car if you double click the key fob for extra security. Very handy feature for further protection against digital theft. Thanks guys! :)
ABAUTO According to my local Mercedes Dealer, it’s not a ‘deadlock’ feature, double clicking the key fob stops the key transmitting a signal (which appears to render the faraday pouch pointless for the C-Class 2019 spec).... I have tested their point by double clicking my spare key, starting the car with the main key, getting out whilst the car is running, double clicking the main key to stop transmitting (car can’t lock via key fob if engine is running), and hey presto, after I got back in, the car could not detect a key!!!
You can stop the C-Class 2019 spec key fob transmitting a signal by double clicking the fob. Once you click it again to open the car, it will start transmitting again as normal so you can start the car!
I've heard of active RF signals (pressing buttons on the FOB) being captured by hacking tools that could potentially be used to decode and replay to unlock and start a vehicle. Some vehicle systems are susceptible to this, though not all. I wonder if double pressing the lock and inadvertently transmitting a signal would allow such systems to capture the signal and hack cars that have this key FOB safety feature. That's why a faraday bag may still be useful. Also, make sure to test your faraday bag regularly. Those have been known to fail over time. It happened to mine. Plus, you can also make your own faraday bag (ua-cam.com/video/jfSe-xyQQzg/v-deo.html) or pocket faraday box (ua-cam.com/video/z-MtqgfN5ng/v-deo.html) to use as I show in our videos.
Frakking, the Mercedes wireless signal is encrypted. The thief’s don’t copy the Mercedes signal as they can’t actually read what is transmitted, instead they just boost the encrypted signal from the key to the car. Plus the code that is transmitted is changed every time the key is used, the previously transmitted code will not work again. So even if the code was read during transmission it would only work that one time.
@@KennethVanWieII There are ways to capture signals and use them to unlock and start a vehicle. Because of the way some of these systems, in some makes of vehicles, are implemented they are susceptible to this. Checkout our video: ua-cam.com/video/rv1EOCbQde4/v-deo.html
Maaaaan i just got mine (2021 c43) delivered and recently had my 30th birthday, know exactly what you mean when you say the car means a lot to you and i can understand the hard work put in to achieve this.
If you hit the lock key on the key fob twice it disengages the keyless feature, even if you have the key fob it won’t let you open the door until you hit unlock on the key fob.
The problem with pouches is that they become ineffective after some use. The process of putting the key in & retrieving seems to rub or wear down the material. I've tried 3 x different pouches and all stopped blocking the signal. I now use a metal sandwich tin + I also double click my Merc key to disable keyless entry + I am now using a steering wheel lock.
Keyless entry is one of the most stupid inventions that has created a giant security hole. I don't carry a faraday bag. It's an inconvenience. I simply brought my car to the dealer and told them to turn off the keyless entry/keyless ignition features. They charged me $200, but it's worth it to me. I still can use my remote to lock and unlock the door. As long as I put my keyfob near the push button, the car can start when I push the button. Here are additional security measures I would recommend: 1. Get a hiddlen kill switch. 2. Get an OBD port lock. Hide the OBD port. Then install a fake OBD port in its place. If you don't want to do all that, just remove the OBD port fuse. 3. Hide a tracker of some kind. An Apple Airtag with the speaker removed would work.
Ghost is great. I have it on my CLA45s, I made a fun video here where I gave my wife the keys without her knowing and filmed her trying to start the car to see how secure it is. Here's the video: ua-cam.com/video/lT-MnfIrqGs/v-deo.html
I’m not an expert on none of this stuff like stealing cars but something inside me tells me that someone’s a able to steal your brand new Mercedes it’s most likely inside job or you’re in on it . or both you’re in on it and it inside job.
I strongly believe that car theft is premeditated. You shouldn't be able to drive a car if the key is not in proximity, like 1 m away. Even if the engine is running. The key is more than 1 m away, the car stops.
The new Mercedes fobs are supposed to turn off after 5 minutes if they're left stationary. Not sure how effective that is. Had a few creepers on scooters pulling into my drive, stopping, and staring at my 70 plate in the last few days, and I've become paranoid, so I appreciate the advice. I'm going to pick up a pouch just in case. I might get an old fashioned steering wheel lock, too.
Hey mate, I think getting the pouch is a good call. You can never be too cautious. At least with the pouch you know your keys are secure. Hope it was just a scare and nothing happens. Take care and enjoy your car.
Hey guys my w205 doesn’t have a keyless entry, does that mean that can’t steal it with key cloning right? Except breaking in, is there any other way of stealing it?
In 2-4 months please update us on your signal blocking pouch. The stitching will come loose and expose a slight hole in the pouch and the signal will no longer be blocked Signal boosting was a massively popular way to steal a car but recently thieves are snapping door locks to get the keys. You also would need a good anti snap lock. I am surprised at how many people own £50/60k cars but don’t spend £20 on a lock that will save a thief entering their house The ultimate combination is , 1. AW Ghost immobiliser 2. Signal blocker device 3. Disklok In that order. Also when you lock your car press the lock button on your key in quick succession and the red light on your fob will remain on for 2-4 seconds - this disables comfort access. Then another trick is to remove/ pull the stop start button by pulling it out the ignition - a UA-cam video will show you how to do this. Then you will have to use the key to start the car. Keep the stop start button button safe
