what are you on about? you're meant to pull forwards/outwards when you deploy so the hook actually catches. or do you mean his sleeve deploy? he just hooked the wave onto his sleeve and pulled out. that particular deployment isn't really practical, but it looks cool, at least

how's the liner lock holding up? I just ordered one, but I saw another vid saying the liner lock looked weak

+Kanaka Dee the Dart XT does have a carbide tip, but this is the previous model
So you can't deploy it like in the Doug Marcaida videos. I doubt you would even be able to open that knife before you got robed.
