unless you're using home-manager which is really slow, rebuilding doesn't take alot of time, most time is spent on eval which is a bit inconvenient though
@ag1015 Due to jank required to run NixOS on steam deck, I am required to compile my entire kernel every rebuild, which takes hours. Not to mention, at the end the rebuild doesn't finish properly, it exits with errors. Another rebuild right afterward fixes this though, as it sees that the latest kernel has already been compiled.
@ i'm sorry, why in the world are you using nixos on a steamdeck? its meant mainly for server use and if you're up for the challange desktop/laptop as a daily driver.
@ag1015 oh, i actually did try to use it on a server! it didn't work. i just ended up slapping server ubuntu on it and calling it a day. so, a desktop os it remains. it's pretty nice, having everything in one file so you know you don't have any unused programs. plus, nixos has been faster (mostly) and more stable than any other distro i've ever used (prob because it was made for servers). all in all, i love nixos, but at the same time, i hate it. edit-1: i realize I didn't answer your question, so here's the answer: i was already familiar with nixos from working with it on my thinkpad, and the steam deck is my most powerful computer.
Honestly i gave up on Linux because it was way too inconvenient to boot a VM just to use Adobe Package that i "paid for free", frustration with some drivers even though i know how to fix them but i am too lazy, or some games that are Windows only because they will black screen on Linux, I just hope SteamOS fixed all these issues that i faced.
firstly, if you need adobe (which most people already left because of shitty business practices) just use windows they do not run on linux and a VM isn't the way to go unless you have a spare gpu to pass-through. secondary, literally all windows games run on linux except for some specific competitive games and some unreal engine games. it's kinda naive to say that steamos will fix these issues... because its a distro and also because most of these issues were already fixed a long time ago. as for the drivers i'm not really sure what you mean by that, i had less driver issues on linux than on windows especially that i have some older hardware which windows for whatever reason doesn't support anymore like my printer.
Like i said i " *Paid for free* " , the P word version, that's why i didn't bother with their shitty practices because I have zero connection to their services and i lost nothing, even my Windows license i got it for " *Free* ".
@ag1015 When i mean by drivers it is some very specific ones in order to run some editing softwares and some mods, not saying Linux is bad and has tons of driver issues, it is just me being lazy doing troubleshooting and i like convenience when i am relaxing on the computer inside my house. And for video games i was facing some black screen issues with some titles.
20 likes for Episode 2!
Well boys, we did it.
Glad to know someone else still likes this meme format. I remember back in the League days when it first came out.
3 years already...?????
As a linux user, this is soo true
(Except for the games, those run on valve's proton)
its more accurate for macos than linux
Yeah, I was a bit confused. Literally 95% of my Steam library works flawlessly on Linux, thanks to Proton

Linux users try not to let everyone around know that they use Linux challenge (impossible) (i use arch btw) (custom hyprland rice)
0:29 its not black. Its actually obscure, hard to find, and there is plenty of games you haven't heard before.
