      It's really slick. Please note, I have not field tested it yet. I just wanted to share the early product introduction just in case it takes off. We want you guys to take a crack at getting your unit(s) early.

    I need six more jobs because of you. Keep that shit up. I like it.
    Also is the “steb”-by step a typo in the title or did I miss a meaning

      It's a typo. I did not notice it until you mentioned it. You're the first to call this out. Thank you.

    When your radio is in the bag do you ever have any problems with it overheating? What wattage and duty cycle do you use? I have a backpack I want to put my ft857d in but am concerned about lack of airflow...

    • @TheTechPrepper
      @TheTechPrepper  Рік тому

      Never. I talk about this in most of my manpack field videos. It all depends on how you operate. I deliberately carry out targeted contacts with short commo windows (5-15 minutes). I operate in temperatures north of 100F and have never had a problem. Check out a recent video I did called "Anti Field Day 2023". Also, I designed my bag with a rear zipper and snap attachment point i. the event I need to allow air flow. I never use it.

  • @packrat2569
    @packrat2569 Рік тому

    I couldn't tell from the video, does your FT-891 have the Anderson Powerpole conversion installed that replaces Yaesu's factory Molex connector?

    • @TheTechPrepper
      @TheTechPrepper  Рік тому +1

      Check out a recent video by KB9VBR on his mod for the FT-891. For my 891, I'm just using a 6" Molex to Anderson Powerpole cable. I think I picked it up from Powerwerx a few years back.

      @packrat2569 Рік тому

      @@TheTechPrepper I have watched Michael's video several times and have gone all in on Anderson connectors. I've been putting them on everything. I just bought my FT-891 so I'll have to wait until my warranty expires before I do that upgrade. I have added Anderson's about 8" from my Molex connectors for now, 73.

    • @TheTechPrepper
      @TheTechPrepper  6 місяців тому

      Yes. I make my own Anderson Powerpole cables. If you need a pre manufactured cable, check out Powerwerx.

    You could really add that mount to just about anything, by replacing the M-Lok screws, with what ever screws your situation requires! Ie. Wood screws for a wooden shelf. Metal screws, under the dash of your truck! Its a cool, little, power clip device!

      That's an excellent call out. Thank you. I did not consider that. It looks like I'll be doing an install in the Jeep this weekend with your idea.

    Hi, would you be up for a more detailed video on the antenna connections, types and theory on your armorloq man pack? I just had a discussion with a radio shop engineer who reckoned the concept couldn’t possibly work as there wouldn’t be an earth? I assume he was talking about the ground plane? I didn’t get into an argument as I don’t know enough about it but having seen yours he’s obviously talking rubbish….really interested in building my own but will have to order the frame from the US as it isn’t available in the uk 😟

      Damn hippies. Although, I am OK with hippies that rock any equipment that can be mounted on 2A gear.

    You're not running any kind of a fuse, or did I miss that ?

    • @TheTechPrepper
      @TheTechPrepper  Рік тому +1

      I don't run a fuse much these days anymore on the manpacks. However, I did build an inline fuse early on in the channel using a pair of automotive ATC/ATO fuse holders. I just attached a set of Anderson Powerpole on either side. It functioned as the patch cable.

      Gaston; doesn't the bioennopo battery have a built-in circuit that shutdown the battery when it starts sending more than 12v

    • @TheTechPrepper
      @TheTechPrepper  Рік тому

      This is just a mount. It's up to you to bring your own fuse system. I just used an automotive ATC/ATO fuse holder and crimped on a couple of Anderson Powerpoles to each side. I can't recall which video it was in as that build was a few year back.

    RED RIGHT TONGUE TOP viewed from the "hood" side where the connector is flat, with the wires going down, and the mating side of the connector up, then the positive side is on the right. The mnemonic that I use is "red right tongue top". (It leaves out "when the connectors are pointed at you.") That is to say, when the tongues are up, then the red connector is on the right. ✌🏻 I used to have mine backwards too 🇺🇸🙏🏻👍🏻
