Best way to describe a real premium economy is its most similar to a domestic first class seat, not just extra leg room but a wider seat and some add'l perks like priority check-in, meals, etc, but it all varies from airline to airline.
Nope, even back then something like this would probably be Clipper class/some other upgrade The regular economy seats, despite being slightly better than modern economy, were still just average.
I flew in PE from Houston, Tx to Singapore with a 5 hour wait during our stop in Manchester. It was roomy and comfortable. In 2020 the round trip was $1,800 usd, now its nearly double that price.
@@davidpham9353 Where are you seeing Houston to Singapore for less than 1k on premium economy. 🤷🏽♂️ I dont even think you can get less than 1k on regular economy from the top decent airlines
I'm 5'10" and flew on Cathay in 2004, before premium economy. it's the reason I haven't flown across the pacific again. I'm sure premium is better, but if I have to cross the pacific it's business or better
Premium economy of Cathay pacific was undeed the best! Seats were comfy very enough leg rooms and wide seat and lots of options and in flight services. I'd would name it pre-business seat :)
Cathay Economy is also impressive. Extensive IFE selection, for some reason even tho the package is the usual economy class fare, I like how you got a tray and like some plate of sort and actual utensils while eating. Plus comfortable seat ofc
When ever I check premium economy, it's about 2x to 2.5x eco, while business is 3x eco. Never saw an interesting deal on premium eco yet. If premium eco would be max 1.5x eco, it would be a no brainer.
one of the real best airlines. crew are truly able to speak english with many vocabularies & clear articulation even way better than the "two biggest" airlines from middle east. sorry but I just spit it out the fact based on experiences of mine & my surroundings
i flew economy on a tripple seven and a a330. the tripple seven seat was AMAZING considering it was a 13 hour flight. cant say the same for the a330 but altogether real joyride!
Today’s premium economy offers what business class did 30 years ago-extra legroom, wider seats, and a touch more comfort. First class has nearly disappeared as business class evolved to include fully reclining seats, essentially bridging the gap and making traditional first class redundant.
20% more, lol. Nowadays, it's up to three times the price of the economy, sometimes more expensive than some business classes, with less to no benefits. Looking at you, Lufthansa and Co.
Yeah, came here to say that. I have an existing booking, so I checked the price difference of economy and premium economy on the same dates/routes on other airlines. Lufthansa 125% difference, SAS 168% difference, Air France 112% difference.
We just did business class from NZ>HK, HK>LON. 1st leg was great (cabin) A350, 2nd leg was 777 which was older. 1st leg service was horrible, 2nd leg much better. Overall though there was a real semse of poor morale with the air crew. Food was nowhere near what it used to be. Wont be using cathay till we see reports of significant changes/improvement. In other words, spending cash on business class = dont go with Cathay at the moment. 😢
@@magnustan841 the population has increased dramatically since the early 1980s, so that has to be taken into consideration first and foremost. As capitalism became more corrupt the smaller the seats became.
@@angle5520 although this is true, those ‘normal’ seats where not the price they are now. It was much more expensive to fly then. So, don’t act like it’s a travesty that you pay less and get less.
Many airlines charge at least twice the price, not just 20%. If it were just even 33% more, I would always fly premium economy, but it isn't. You were very lucky.
Looks great, but would that recline from the seat in front be any issue? It'd probably be better than in economy but is it very noticeable in Premium Eco?
I typically fly Delta, and I once flew premium economy from Salt Lake to London Heathrow. The seats weren't too much to write home about, but there was definitely more legroom. There were a lot more options for meal service, and they gave you a pillow, blanket, all the conventional overnight flight kit, but also basic toiletries like a travel toothbrush and a tiny little roll of toothpaste. So not too different from economy, but just different enough to make it worth the extra money.
If only all premium economy was a 20% price hike over economy on most flights it’s being offered. Max I would do is 40% higher, but airlines seem to think it’s business class. Given the airlines I have access to and typically fly, hard to justify even a 20% hike, because their economy is good enough.
I absolutely love this airline, I have been flying in this airline basically my whole life but I have never tried premium economy. But now I have to take British airlines…… THEY DONT HAVE TVS!!!!
I just take whatever they will upgrade me to and fall asleep. Usually I just give my nice seat to my wife I’m blessed to be compact and automatic snoozer on planes.

It's a huge upgrade from economy for sure. The price at times can be slightly more or outrageously more expensive though.
It's what economy used to be until the airlines decided to squeeze more money out of passengers
It’s what economy used to be when flying was for the wealthy. Premium economy is cheaper than economy in the 90s. Look it up.
Nope, even back then something like this would probably be Clipper class/some other upgrade
The regular economy seats, despite being slightly better than modern economy, were still just average.
You’re blaming the airline like people didn’t choose to be cheap.
they're charging now more than before ?
No. This is what business used to be a few decades ago. This might have been like economy in a time when flying was exclusively for the wealthy.
Looks pretty good! Especially Cathay Pacific 🇭🇰 wow 🤩

next time learn how to use google flight. 2nd, learn how to book with points.
Then you will buy it for less than $1k in 2023 summer.
You are welcome.

Ty for flying Cathay!!!!
Awesome job dan with UA-cam shorts
Dude the plane matters as well. That’s the most technologically advanced passenger jet in the market right now besides the 787

China Airlines PREMIER ECONOMY was fabulous I traveled KL MALAYSIA to Taipei and back last month
meals are the same as the normal economy
You have such a amazing job
Dude your short videos are soooo much better than your scary headline videos.
I’m flying this route in 28 days!!!! I’ll be sure to try it out!
I flew CP prem eco Vancouver to NYC. It was so cool!
That was at least 2 years ago right? No more cp from yvr to jfk

❤❤😊 Superb
as someone who always flies cathay pacific when i lived in hong kong i can agree it is very nice and one of the best airlines ive flown on
fun fact( Hong Kong has made a new airline called Hong Kong airilines) it’s pretty good

Anyone done PE from Australia to London? Best aurline recommendations appreciated as i need my legs as elevated as possible due to health. ❤
in my opinion cathay pacific is one of the best asian airlines along with singapore airlines and ana
In New Zealand booking premium economy usually means paying 2.5x as much as a normal economy ticket, so a no brainer not to buy
Agree I would prefer premium economy in Daytime flights instead wasting my own money for Business Class
flew hawaiian premium economy for ~20% more from austin to honolulu...definitely worth it in the bulkhead aisles given the 8h flight time!
Looks like a US domestic first class. Would you say the experience/comfort is similar?
The fact that ANA and JAL give you free lounge access :)))))))))))

In Europe the premium economy tickets are 100% more than a normal economy ticket. And that isn't a no brainer. But 20% more ist fair.
Flew AA premium economy from SCL to MIA and you are right. For a slight 10-15% up cost we flew a much more enjoyable route.
DO A REVIEW OF PIA
You didn’t show how far the seat reclines
I’ve tried Premium Economy and it was good
um... not what I saw in real life ...last week. but good to know
I feel like Premium Economy is more or less similar to what regular coach was like in like the 1980s and 1990s
Flew EVA Airline premium from LAX to SGN Love it ❤️❤️❤️❤️

4 hours? Go economy. 8+, sure go P.E, but anything less is just not necessary
Back in the day those seats were nornal for planes
True! Sad development😩
But was 30% more expensive than it is now? Blame budget airlines for the downward development

Flew Qantas premium economy from MEL-SFO in 2018... words cannot describe how good it was
Travelled in pre eco london to delhi on British airways n felt like its has more space than business class😅
PE is ok until the one in front reclines it’s seat. That will decrease the space significantly
Is it as good as business class though?
You should try the ultra long-haul Cathay Pacific EGLL - VHHH or London - Hong Kong
Premium economy is actually business class domestic in the USA lmao
If it is 20% more, i would do it. It was twice as much as regular economy fir my trip to asia
Do they check the weight of cabin bag and hand bag? Pls reply
Last time I remembered, they did not check the weight of the check-in baggage.
fun watching tv until the front seat declines the seat
Carpet Pacific.
Not all premium economy cabins are created equally

What’s the cost of premium economy from Austin, Texas to Reno Nevada?

cathay is still the best airline in the world

You forgot "one of"
depends on airplane on how much extra leg room
Russian premium economy: you just can get the second luggage (and sometimes business lounge). It's 1,5-2 times more expensive than standard economy
For a 14.5h flight would this be ok? I got business class for next month but its def a lot more than these

But the Tv height is decided by the person infront of you :/
Never flying premium economy unless it's a free upgrade
I would rather save the money to fly business next time.
Try china airlines premium economy next time
I am finding online that premium economy is always 50% more of economy price 😢🤔
Me who jumps into a plane and wakes up when it stops
You need to compare premium to economy. Some airlines give you 1inch more legroom and .5 inch wider seat. Not worth it in my opinion.
You should try Virgin Atlantic Premium out of Manchester or into Heathrow.
Did you AI generate your voice?
Not all premium economy is the same especially for domestic flights
It’s just too expensive, it’s usually 2-3x the price of an economy ticket which is just absurd. Maybe if u got it on points…
I absolutely love this airline, I have been flying in this airline basically my whole life but I have never tried premium economy. But now I have to take British airlines…… THEY DONT HAVE TVS!!!!

omg...why I took prmmium Economy is 2 times more about 2000EU (Economy is 1000EU)when flying from Taiwan to France.
