Miami Vice S01 E19 :: The Home Invaders

This is easily one of the best scenes in the entire 5 seasons of Miami Vice.
I call this one "The Ballad of Big Data."
It's a dramatization of Detective Castillo piecing together disparate bits of information in order to come up with a Big Data picture of a crime scene. It highlights the beauty of the information age & individual human creativity, by literally ending with the word, "beautiful."
That Jan Hammer suspenseful music is gold. The game is afoot as Holmes would say. Hammer's music was absolutely integral to the show's overall feel.
The piece playing during this scene is titled "Clues." Would return in "Out Where The Buses Don't Run" (S-2, 1985.)
Love this scene... It really showed how brilliant Castillo was as an investigator.
plus i love how brilliant Elvis was an alligator!
Could just imagine Castillo meting Elvis lol
Elvis growling at him
Castillo:Want to become a handbag?
lol
One of the most underrated and underappreciated scenes - shows the behind-the-scenes work that officers had to do to help solve crimes.
xiongmu1 brilliant. My respect for Castillo grew after this scene
Castillo, the ultimate cool cop.
The last person I want coming after me is Lt. Martin Castillo.......
The homeboy is a CIA Ninja
Great scene!!! Great episode!!
Castillo's detective genius.
Love how they completely match the start of where the criminals shows their victims
Similar to the Manhunter scene with Dennis Farina and William Peterson.
That's Michael Mann for you. :-)
Ferrara touch to this episode is gold!
A great scene of diagnosis!
Don Johnson was gorgeous and so was Philip Michael Thomas.
I've gotta leave YT to watch this. It's too good to stick around here.
First words. “Who’s in the house”
Fuck that AI shit, this is good old fashion analysis that gets the job done!
Why can’t we have more shows like this again
You cannot match it with a new one.
Crockett was fine as hell!!
lol wasn’t he just! Gorgeous eyes!!
He was definitely gorgeous
I love this scene
Yeah brilliant scene. Castillo amazing.
best episode ever and diracted by the man who did Driller killer
Marvellous scene this. Love it.
"I thought you did better work in your own office?"
Fantastic episode this 👌👌👌
Competition like this is dangerous
"back to weinstein".....classic... pre IT...piecing it together.....
yes, yes, yes. love the one-man procedural orchestration that unfolds here! one of the absolute gold standard MV scenes and episodes in the series, along with "evan," "dfntly miami," "out where the buses don't run," "prodigal son," and "smuggler's blues." just think back to what most police drama lieutenant characters were like B.C. (before Castillo.) MV, as usual, broke the mold in many paramount ways for which it never nearly gets enough deserved acknowledgement for. when you put it in the context of its time, imo the impact and phenomena of the 1st two seasons of MV were borderline akin to what sopranos was for its time (strictly in terms of how they separated themselves from their respective television peers up to that point.)
great classic police work...my fave
Mann has eye..light and shadow.
It would have been cool if he made a small origami figure
If I ever had the chance to look like someone else it would be Sonny Crockett.
OMG! I go to the Hair Emporium! I'd better get a guard dog. But seriously, you don't have a Lieutenant and inspectors doing this work. There are analysts that do this and provide any commonality between cases.
Things were so bad the lieutenant had to get involved these guys were hurting killing people including children
