I've always just done the tape measure method...small yard...I need to mess around with these cool online tools though because they can be really handy for people with large oddly shaped yards as you said! Good presentation Jason!
Must be the day for " how to measure your lawn videos" 😁😁😁 Nice video, that GIS is something I've never used, need to check it out. We sometimes lose sight of the basic fundamentals..looking forward to following your series..
Thanks. For sure what I've seen as well. Trying to expand upon the beginner lawn care program and build that out to be as useful as possible. Love the "grassroots" title btw.
I agree with ya square footage is key to everything in lawn care! How's the snow been this winter up in Wisconsin? Been a light winter for snow in far northern IL this year
It doesn't need to be super precise. So, you can measure roughly and then validate what you got by real life measuring. That's what I did for the practice facility since it's in trees.
I am planning to do videos addressing this over the next couple months. But, this video goes over a lot of my experience and info, just in less depth. ua-cam.com/video/G-QhH900afo/v-deo.html

Thanks, Brian.
Thank you for the easy and quick explanation.
Glad it was helpful
☀Those are great tools. They got mine a little off compared to rolling the measuring wheel around, bot not by much. Great video!
Thank you. Feel like if the error rate is within 5-10% it's still pretty slick, especially if you don't have one of those wheels or long tape.

@@JasonSeiberlich thanks, the title literally came to me in the middle of the night, I woke up and had to write it down before I forgot.

I can see about 70% of my yard and the high is 47 next Wednesday. Wild stuff.
Good topic and tools!
Thank you.
Anyone else’s yard on the maps covered by trees? 😅
I have a cul-de-sac yard. Very difficult to measure
Manually for sure, will be very easy with either of these tools.
Music is very distracting. I came here measuring yard, not hearing music.
I have a few trees that get in the way of me measuring it on Google map. Any advice?

Is there anything that takes into account different slopes in yards?
My county GIS has topographical options. Google probably does too. I just don't know how.
I am trying to grow a putting green what is the process and steps and what chemicals you use.
