- My eBay account was suspended for life and now eBay is asking me to pay the listing fees for the auction they canceled after just hours of it being up.

Thanks for exposing their bs
Yep, same thing happened to me, I pulled a listing and they still charged me as if I'd sold the item. No way to argue, so I refused to pay, 2 years later it goes to a debt collector, I was livid, but still no way to resolve it......never use them and spread the word
Keep refusing, stand your ground, eventually they will back down.
I had exactly this situation, I closed the account as a result (even though it still isn't actually closed).
The underlying problem here is the false permanent suspension . They did that to me years ago but it finally got fixed.
Ebay is somewhere I never go to anymore. used to buy and sell some items on there but I gave them up a ferw years ago. No loss for me, sorry they are doing this to you.
Where do you buy and sell parts at now?
its FULL of drop shippers with products that arnt what are described, and they bully you if you want to return them too, Ebay has fallen FAR from grace.
I don't use ebay any more. They don't want individuals selling on their platform.
There is guy that sell PCB boards for speakers from Parts Express. That is the only thing I have bought off there in 10 years. I used to buy lots of stuff. No more. There are so many other venues.
Sounds like a job for Steve Letho of Letho's Law on YT! Specializes in automotive law.
Agreed! I even think he's got a Bugeye Sprite on his shelf behind him. Well, maybe not but it sounds good.
great idea!
@@ovalwingnut If you mean the blue one, That's a model of his new Cobra replica.
Yes, Steve Specialises in automotive law, in particular lemon law, but as he states in his videos Only in Michigan, he can't help you in any other state.
@@Bobs-Wrigles5555 ShOcK & AWE detail oriented spotting. Color me impressed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I remember the ebay of the late 1990's where it was a fun place to buy and sell antiques and collectables. Now it is just a flea market version of Amazon. Fees are super high, no customer support, especially for (former) small sellers like me. (I have noticed an influx of counterfeit goods on Amazon also lately).
This is also a story about the demise of customer services. I used to be employed as a customer service agent twenty years ago. We were on the payroll of the firm we worked for, knew our way and had contacts all over the place. In short, we got things done. Today most companies outsourced their customer services and when you call them you get some kid using a (mostly very bad written) script. It is penny wise but pound foolish and it is a sad thing most companies are run by bean counters that only see the costs. The benefits of good customer service are things like reputation and customers being happy with your business, which unfortunately can’t be expressed in numbers.
eBay's behavior is unconscionable.
Thanks for taking time to help others showing the problems Ebay now cause. Cheers
Good for you Steve with going through the hoops on this. It’s things like this that make it miserable for everyone and actually seems like a form of highway robbery through policy with these corporations.
Ebay is run by criminals. I learned that the hard way :(
Sorry to hear this BS is affecting your business and interrupting your normal work!
I gave up on eBay years ago. If they treat people like they have treated you, I cannot see any future for the platform.
Ten years ago I used to buy pedal cycle parts and even sold a complete Peugeot bike there without any problems, but it is the usual story with very large companies. They seem to want to bully the little man if anything goes remotely wrong.
The last thing that I bought via eBay was an eight valve [tubes, I suppose in the US!] 1957 VHF/FM radio receiver, for about £80, and then spent much more on having it rebuilt with safe new parts! That would be about six or seven years ago.
Sorry for your difficulty. I've owned two bug eye sprites. One in college. The second I had for 32 years. I sold it when I retired. : )
I stoipped using eBay because of the same kind of "oh yes you are right but the computer says I can't fix it" nonsense. It seems to be their business model.
Good for you! This is more of the same. Some monolithic company or public service entity like the USPS ignores complaints UNTIL it finally goes to a suit or it gets on the news, then they fall over themselves "apologizing" and admitting "it should never have happened, blah blah blah". We aren't as dumb as these place must think we are.
Really an inspiring approach and thanks for not just throeing in the towl and walk away Steve 👍👍
I've avoided Ebay at all costs for years. Although recently in a community chat room a guy we all know posted that he was selling an item on EBay so I had to go back and buy it from them else he might have been banned for telling us directly. I suggested next time he just come to the community and post it first BEFORE posting on Ebay to avoid any potential problems from them plus he and the buyer can save money. I'd rather pay the percentage to him than Ebay.
Done with eBay after 20 + years, I don't use it any more, plus the post office sucks too!!!
Thanks for the update. Another case of companies having so many millions of customers that they are too big and possibly too lazy to look after genuine customers.
This would be a great crowd fund project.
Good luck
Insanely frustrating, but what it clearly shows us is how badly ebay is run. Complete sh*t show.
Good for you Steve. I know you will not lie down and play dead !!
If you were in the UK you would also be able to contact a 'consumer rights' body which I was going to suggest that be something to think about. I am glad that you have contacted such an organisation because these companies should not be allowed to 'walk all over' people just because they feel 'untouchable'. I know it can seem like a 'waste of your time' perhaps but I believe in principle and that is what is at stake here. Thanks for the update Steve and do keep going with this one. 👍👍
Thanks for shining a light on this. Crazy.
Terribly sad that eBay has gotten so very bad with it's customers.
Bummer. Good luck resolving this.
eBay has went downhill hard. I sold a working and tested video game console and the buyer wanted a refund. He wrote me and complained about an issue that he created by taking it apart and admitted in messenger that he caused the issue but eBay wouldn’t have my back when he gave negative feedback. 100% positive feedback for almost 20 years and that the first time anyone has done that to me
Just to protect your credit, I would PAY the listing fee. You can then try to recoup that fee later down the road.
Uhhhh, the basic concept of payment for good or services rendered is that both parties agree that said item or service rendered for a given price is agreed to by both. This clearly is not, and is a breach of that standard. Thus...no payment necessary.
We're all guilty of going down this digital rabbit hole and accepting the world where customer service is impossible to reach or "unable to help", but it still doesn't make it right.
I was only an eBay buyer, not a seller. I shopped eBay all the time. Sellers used to be honest, items were described accurately. Then, things changed. Items would be as described, but only because the description omitted a fundamental flaw that made the items useless, Now, I almost never look at eBay. I think it's been at least 2 years since I made an eBay purchase.
To be fair if the feedback profile is well earned, they are honest sellers, I would not paint all sellers and buyers with the same brush.
EBay was such a great concept to begin with and has just got too big for its own good. The only solution is to make it small again by mass boycott of this corrupt organisation.
Sorry to hear . My opinion would be save yourself a headache & pay $79 & be done with it .
WOW!! Sorry to hear about he whirlwind of B.S. that you are going through with Ebay!!!
over the last few years ebay has become almost unusable, it's no longer worth the hassle of listing, its so rigid it makes it unpleasant to use. I never listed cars, but other Items.
In my area. That is a small claims court case. Maybe that could work? Filing is a lot cheaper.
Ebay has sucked for the last 20 years. Sometimes I still use them to order car parts. Lots of independent parts websites also sell on Ebay for the same price but there they offer free shipping. That's the only reason I bother.
They haven't provided the services so surely legally they can't charge you!
Good luck, I hope you are successful!
The problem with ebayer call centre is they only repeat what you can already find on their question and answer system. It can be like yalking to a brick wall
I stopped selling things on ebay because literally customer support does nothing for sellers. Always rules in favor of the buyer. Facebook Market place is positioned to take over if they're just work it out a little bit and run with it.
I am 69 years old and things continue to get worse... Waiting for Skynet to come....
ebay is p'sing me off. Three of the last four purchases has resulted in nothing being shipped.
I guess that depends on where you live. If you live in a residential area then it may have been delivered but a porch pirate may have stolen your packages.
@@leonhart2452 No. The seller just never would send the item.
If you got a working tracking number, & it didn't arrive, you tell ebay.
@@Mrshoujo I have. I got my refund. The problem is that the delivery was with the expectation of meeting deadlines. I've never had so many issues with eBay orders that I've had lately.
@@Mrshoujo There was never a tracking number. People are just not shipping what they sell.
A class action lawsuit is the only thing that will force eBay to change.
Get em! Ebay has become a terrible place to do buisness and they're crooks!
Don't pay it. Let them send you to collections. Then you get ot have some fun. Sue them in small claims court. They will be required to answer without sending a lawyer. It's your legal right. Only cost a few bucks. You will be able to protect yourself and your rights without any real expense.
You also should file a complaint with the California Attorney General.
FeeBay
Steve, I assume you have been in contact with Brenna Bird’s office? If so, excellent. If not, get a hold of her. She will definitely get the proverbial wheels of justice turning to help you out.
I stopped selling on eBay years ago due to BS like this although admittedly I still buy low value items through them such as books or tools -- typically things under $50. I can't say that BAT is much better. I "sold" an XK120 project car on BAT only to have the high bidder immediately turn around and flake due to a "family emergency" (his wife found out he'd bought yet another car) and gripe to me that he was still on the hook for paying BAT's buyer fee. Poor baby. I could have relisted but now a taint was on the car and I'm sure I would have received all sorts of comments as to why it didn't sell the first time. While fuming about all that I put it up on Craigslist and sold it to a local for $5K more than what it closed for on BAT. Go figure. Craigslist. Who would've thought?
Well since your account has been permanently banned it’s not like they can credit your account because it’s banned right? As far as being in Iowa and getting the Attorney General to act? Good luck with that, by a lotto ticket, your odds of a positive outcome are much greatet
Should sue in small claims court.
I made a huge living with eBay 2000-2010. Mostly Harleys, Buells, and their parts. Sold a few celebrity cars. Then they lost their sh$t. Buh bye my 4.7 million dollars in sales.
2:18…sadly BAT is also no longer the place that it once was👈🏻
Video about BaT coming soon...
You'll find Ebay's T&C's will state whatever they decide you agree to and if you don't then you cant go to court but only to binding arbitration in San Jose CA which is of course Ebay's hometown.
I predict in the next 10 years T&C's of all online companies and app will come under legislative scrutiny...it's just getting so out of control.
I call it the slow computer age , because it takes forever to get anywhere or anything done,
Thats the height of corporate idiocy and arrogance. What possible incentive would you have to pay them anything as they have banned your account? What are they going to to do double-ban you?
They will probably send a collection agency after me for it. But wait they banned my account because they didn’t think it was actually me….. Why would they ask me to pay if they don’t think it’s me 😡
What would happen if people with issues with all these big companies just sued in small claims court.
Imagine being on the receiving side of millions of such suits. It would put them out of business.
I buy from local stores now if issues they take care of me, on the spot. 😅
One thing to not be able to sell but for buying old obscure parts eBay is unfortunately essential
Yep
I agree. I still buy things from Ebay.
Ebay is terrible, I'm a small seller there (260 sales 2024) and 1/8 sales is a bogus return by customers with swapping there old junk parts for mine, returning empty boxes, or making return because they ordered the wrong part, and 99% of time the ebay gives buyer a full refund, in many cases times were there seller customer support originally tells me they wont honor the claims, only to default to buyer, it cost me over a thousand bucks last year. Currently trying to fight my last 2024 transaction, the return was denied because they bought a cheaper one after delivery, only for the bad buyer to do a VISA chargeback claiming "defective" the day after ebay closed the original claim in my favor
I used to be a moderate size operator on ebay. Yes I had the false claims with recieving back broken parts. Happened several times, usually straight crooks or buyers remorse. One false claim I had the buyer signing the recieved in good order and condition. That got me my money back. Ebay are jusdge jury and executioner. And their shonky lawyers play severe games. That alone came back on them and I got a refund.
They have never cared about their sellers,, the ones who pay the fees but are only intersted in buyers,, most claims are fraudulent. Damaged in transit is another b/s claim. As a seller I cannot be liable for damage when out of my hands.
i dont deal with ebay and never will.
Tell them the money is sitting in the account they banned for life, try collecting it there. 😮😊
E Bay has no one you can contact in the US ! About 2 years ago I listed a rifle scope with a reserve price it never went live ! I even had others look for it. Nope not listed so I removed it then they stated sending me bills for $100 for the reserve I called customer service and get nothing but people in India that have Zero authority to fix my problem they are based in LA. But no way to contact that office. They suspended my account and even threatened collections. Like any one is going to do a thing over 100 bucks . ! They are the bigger losers I buy elsewhere . Sad I had A Rating of 1800 and good feed back both as buyer and seller . Maybe its because a gal runs it ?. Some think so too .
...is that a LHD Morris Minor in the background? (with the bonnet (hood) open)?
Yes
@@ThisWeekWithCars My wife really wants a decent Minor, but damn, the prices anymore.
Its very sad to see you having an issue with Ebay. This is what happens when you let machines (AI) do people's work.
They charge too much anyway. They even charge sales tax on shipping fees!
eBay is out of my life since many years ago, specially in Europe. There are other sale sites much better out there.
ShOcK & AWE On the flip side, that "Bugeye" is to die for
Was there ever a cuter little car with that smiley face?
@@frglee Know Sir!. Although I think a car called the "FrgLee" is kinda catchy
Shocking
Good.
I just had a nightmare with ebay selling a bike. The guy who bought it decided after nearly a week that he didn't want it after all, and when I refused to give him a refund he damaged it and claimed it arrived that way. He sent a load of BS "proof" to ebay and because they only seem to care about buyers, accepted his story without even asking me about it. Then said they were giving him a full refund, and that I would have to pay for the shipping to get a now damaged bike back. They then charged my bank account without notice, putting me a few thousand overdrawn, so I had to borrow on my credit card while the bank put a stop on the charge, and I got a refund on the refund.
I wish they would ban my ebay account, but I can't close it because of the outstanding fees.
He still has the bike (as far as I know) and now I'm on the hunt for an unusual and interesting shitbox for a project.
Send a note to the CEO of EBAY about your situation...I am sure that they will clear this up quickly before you spend more time and energy and legal fee's.
You will never get the contact info for the CEO of a company that big.
Tell them to FO.
Ebay is kind of a dead platform. Not really a good replacement for it though.
It sounds like you are dealing with an uncaring government bureaucrat rather than private business. Scary!😳😳😳
I am ready for Steve to create a new auction site to overtake eBay - Skoolie all over!!!
Didn’t think anyone remembered I created Skoolie.net
I am wanting to start a class action lawsuit against PayPal,
Paypal,, then even more shonky division of Ebay that they were forced to legally divest themselves of. But still own
It is going to take some work but you need to keep working to get the contact of someone high enough that can actually fix this rather than the bottom line people who lack the authority to do anything about it. Your account needs a special flag lifted.
I hope you take Ebay to the cleaners!! Horrible organization. Have you tried E-bids?
No never heard of it
A website that throws that many ads on the screen as ebid cannot be trusted.
fight back ple
Our computer system doesn't allow me to help you. What a crock. How about sending Ebay a letter stating that you have banned them, so any claims for payment cannot be processed and you are unable to help them.
I can't help noticing you don't say why you were banned for life. Huh
You missed the first video, I was banned because I listed my car for sale. ua-cam.com/video/uJyo7LpL9mA/v-deo.html
"oBey"😝
Heads we win. Tails you are ban and we fraud you.
Sounds like you don't have to pay either. This is your business, you should be talking to a lawyer.
Ebay is a California company. What do you expect?
Except when you try to claim off of them then they want you to go after Ebay in Zurich Switzerland. They hide behind so many entities so as not to get legal action against them.
:(
Ebay sucks
ebay still around LOL
Thank goodness trump is going to get rid of the consumer protection agency. Big corporations need the protection, not the consumer.
Products shipped directly from places that don't have our best interest in mind all over the site, sure that so called consumer protection agency (that isn't) is doing a bang up job at nothing else besides spending billions of printed dollars.
